This place is a slice of paradise, a gem so beautiful, precious and rare. We are extremely lucky to have stumbled upon it from the other end of the globe! If we could get married again anywhere in the world we would still choose your surreal little spot and go through all the stress, difficulty and added expense of having a wedding far far away from where we are both based. It was so worth it! There wasn't a single guest at the wedding who didn't compliment us on our choice of venue and ask how we managed to find it. I am sure there are many young lads and ladies who attended our wedding already dreaming of having their big day at the same venue. In fact, our sweet photographer from Sambino's photography told us she would love to do the same! That says it all, doesn't it? Photographers recognise beauty best and she was beyond ecstatic when she first saw the place! The house itself was so homey and had just the right amount of space for the 10 of us, there were no squabbles over showers and toilet space. The beds were gloriously comfortable, we all got our beauty sleep. ;-) We even got our 83 year old Nana to play basketball with us (for the very first time), that's how relaxed and at home she was. The kitchen was incredible and had every gadget we could possibly want, we managed to cook two Indian hors d'oeuvres, two big pots of curry and rice, two massive roasts, spuds and vegetables and generous amounts of banana cake for the 70 odd guests at our wedding; all of the above with around 15 mini chefs involved in the process, need we say more?
Now coming to our next favourite part, a part so special to everyone who experienced it (No prizes for guessing!). Thank you Paul, for that wonderful evening you shared with us and for the most incredibly delicious lobster dinner you cooked for us. You are a most hospitable and warm host and a fantastic chef. Those who had lobster for the first time, were at a loss for words (All that they could say was mmmm and yessummmm :-) ). The Haligonians themselves couldn't believe how good the lobster was! Enough said.
Thank you again for your warmth and hospitality. Thank you for putting up with our music/noise so graciously. Thank you for rescuing us from our toilet paper crisis at 2 am during our wedding reception. Thank you for the most memorable lobster dinner. Thanks for giving us the most perfect wedding! Thanks for everything!
Wishing you both and everyone else involved with the house the best, always!
Our out of town family members were so taken with this lovely house they couldn't stop talking about it. They had a wonderful weekend, enjoying the picturesque setting, the hugh deck, the tranquility of the surroundings and all the amenities. The beautiful landscaping makes a good backdrop for photo taking. Will definitely return again on our next visit.
We truly enjoyed our week. Our teenagers and dog enjoyed the beautiful property, and had lots of space to explore. The property is large, and beautifully developed and landscaped.
The house itself was clean and tidy, has plenty of sleeping and living space, and is equipped to meet every possible need.
The firepit is sensational, and cooked some of the best lobster we've ever had. Very cosy on a cool Spring night.
The neighbourhood is nice and quiet, and the owners are very kind and helpful.
I highly recommend this property to the travelling couple, family or individual.
We had a spectacular week at this property. We stayed with our two adult children and two larbardor retrievers. The cost was far less than three hotel rooms for the week, we were able to brings the dogs and we enjoyed the deck and firepit immenseley. The property is spectacular, the interior of the house is clean and comfortable with lots of room, the kitchen is very well appointed and the hosts are very realxed, gracious and welcoming. The highlight is the deck and fire pit which we enjoyed every day. While out of town, the location suited us for trips to Bedford which is just a few minutes drive and Dartmouth.
We had a splendid week and would highly recommend this property to others.
What an amazing property, both inside and out. It was like a winter paradise. Nine of us spent a week here and we were so comfortable. Lots of space for everyone to spread out. Fireplace and heated floors made it so cozy. Outside was like a winter wonderland. Pond froze on the back so we were able to skate. Fire pit provided place to warm up a little.
Owner was very friendly and helpful.
Can't wait to go back during the summer!
My wife and I are both from Nova Scotia but live in Alberta presently. We wished to accommodate a family dinner and Paul's home was perfectly suited to that need. Since we are familiar with the location it was easy to find, though even if we didnt it is very close to major highway with minimal turns. Paul greeted us with a full tour and explanation of why he rents his property.
Do not let the taxidermy on site deter you from staying. Paul made it very clear that if you needed them removed that it would not be an issue. There was nothing we did not have on site to complete our meal. The kitchen is very loaded and large enough to have many helping hands without being crowded.
As we were there in winter we did not get to experience the full potential of the property but the view in the morning was still great. Thanks Paul for keeping the driveway clear and salted especially during our stay. I will say that the pictures do not do it justice and for TV goers the flat screen there is much larger than one in the picture with full surround sound which we enjoyed playing some Tiger woods golf on.
Anyone needing to get to airport quickly your last day the location is only about 15 min away. Also Halifax is 20 min with the highway being so very close which is nice for trips in.
If your not from the east coast and would like to try a Donair without a doubt your only two options should be Jessy's or King of Donair (KOD) both very close by in sackville. For a good meal that maybe more affordable for families go to Tom's on sackville drive it has a very "made at home" meal selection. My personal choice is Liver and Onions it is amazing and that's my 32 year old opinion.
