Overview

Isla Mujeres Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Our villa is located about 7-8 minutes by taxi outside of town on a peninsula with a lagoon on one side and a beach on the other side of the main house. On the lagoon side we have a dock that is easily accessible from the Caribbean's famous Puerto Isla Mujeres Marina.

The luxury of the beachside palapa is A/C with 22' ceiling, king size bed, fully equipped kitchenette, Mexican artwork, and a furnished patio with hammocks overlooking the swimming beach with Cancun as the background. We feel the best way to see Cancun is from here. All guests have internet access.

Unique and Inviting. This is the only air conditioned palapa property on a swimmable beach on Isla Mujeres. Palapa:grass roof used in the tropics for coolness and beauty)

The unit is air conditioned with wireless internet and beautifully appointed with sitting/dining areas, efficiency kitchen, ceiling fan, patio and chairs In addition, the palapa has hammocks on the patios. There is an outdoor shower for that refreshing rinse when coming off the beach or cooling off while you sunbathe.

Amenities

Linens & towels (No beach towels), purified water, blender, toaster oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, pots, pans, utensils. On the beach, a private palapa roof shade with tables and lounge chairs.

Activities

Swimming, diving, fishing, snorkeling, dancing, private sunbathing and excellent restaurants. A short walk on the beach to the turtle farm. A special feature of the property is the beach from which daily sunsets are breathtakingly beautiful.

Why Steve Lehrer chose Isla Mujeres

We fell in love with Isla on our first trip in 1972. We have been spending 6 months a year here since 1988. You'll see why when you come here.

This location is breathtaking. Surpassed only by the wonderful people who operate it. Steve and Lindell went out of there way to help us out on our first trip to the island while the on property staff of Juan and Rosario were very pleasant and accommodating. For those looking for something a little off the beaten path that would rather siesta than fiesta this is for you. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of party opportunities for those that want it, but it's not in your face 24/7. In short, we had an awesome time and look forward to revisiting. asap!!! One last thing, thank you to Lassie (the house mascot) for our many wonderful guided tours, crab digging lessons, and companionship!!!

Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

The Palapa Lee was an exceptional place with direct access to the beach. We stayed through the Christmas holidays and had a great time both in town and at the palapa. Steve is a gracious host and we loved the dog Lassie who hung out with us the entire time. I highly recommend this property.

Island life

  • 5 of 5

We usually stay down the road at Puerto Al Mar, but this time we decided to try something different and stay in a house instead of a condo. We arrived on a Sunday night and it was raining heavy and very dark, we thought "oh boy what have we gotten ourselves into." The next morning the sun came up and we stepped outside... it was beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and the little houses on the property are lovely. The oceanfront is quite nice, there isn't a lot of sandy area but there is enough to use if you have children or want to lay in the sand. There are two areas built into the rock, more like a sand-patio with an umbrella and chairs. We enjoyed these more than a literal beach because it most kept the daytrippers from walking all over our area while we relaxed. The property is very well maintained and the owners are as friendly as anyone could ask for. They always welcomed a warm conversation and were able to give some recommendations for places to visit that are a little off the beaten path and not well known by tourists. Only one issue with the palapa itself, one was that the water kept going out on the first day and the first day only. The owners were on it very quickly and it never lasted more than 10 minutes. It was nice to know they were that attentive, and it didn't effect our trip at all. Word of advice - this is a palapa and not an actual house with a solid roof. It is really a neat place but there can be insects inside (some quite large), although they weren't much of an issue. We saw about three insects inside during our stay but our neighbors didn't see any. Just prepare yourself that this is truly an island cottage and not a 5 star hotel. We found it made for a more "real" experience anyway. The drive into town takes about 10 minutes on a golf cart (a must have) but during our stay the main road on the west side of the island was closed for construction, which added some extra time to get into town. No worries though, just enjoy the east side of the island on your daily drives if you are visiting in the next month or two. All in all it was a different experience from our usual condo stay, quite low-key and much more like we really lived on the island and weren't visitors. The price is excellent and the beach area is PERFECT for many romantic sunsets with your significant other.

Relaxing, Low-key but totally the best

  • 5 of 5

Owners helpful and great to deal with. Caretakers are sweethearts...a family of really nice people. Palapa is clean, well-appointed, quiet, and right on a private beach. Enjoyed the peace and beauty of that part of the island...but loved taking our golf cart in to town to enjoy the sights and foods. We definitely will want to return in the future!

Paradise!!!

  • 5 of 5

Hands down a great experience. We have done the all inclusive for years and or resorts. This visit was the best. Renting a golf cart is a must. No rushing around, no people everywhere, just you and the beach. Nightlife is there if you want it but it is up to you to go find it. We had our adult kids with us and we had by far the best time on any vacation. It all starts with the Hosts, Steve and his wife made us feel at home and went above and beyond our expectations. I just cant say enough. Away from the tourist community and experiencing hands on local culture and people was a great experience. Dolphin Discovery, Garrafon Park a MUST visit!! The only negative I can say is birds don't sleep in!! But it is a great wake up call after a few days. Our adopted pets of the week were great also Lassie and Peaches. As the title says "Paradise"!!! We'll be back!!! Thank You !!!!
