Photos and Description of the Butte vacation cabin rental
private cabin located at Homestake Lodge xc ski area, sleeps 4-6, 1 bath

The cabin is located at an off-grid ski lodge surrounded by the mountains. The cabin has 4 beds; 1 queen and 1 twin in the upstairs loft, and a twin bed plus a double pull out couch in the main room. There is a woodstove that can be used for heat or ambiance or there is a propane wall heater. There is a W/D, full bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink. There is a full kitchen with refrigerator, cabinets, sink, 4 burner stove, and fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, glasses, and utensils. There is a covered porch which looks out over the mountains and ski trails. Our 160 acre property is completely surrounded by forest service, which provides much peace and quiet. The property has 35km of trails and can be used for skiing in the winter, and hiking, running, walking, and mountain biking during the off-season. The cabin is located 15-20 minutes from Butte, MT. It is very easily accessible off I-90 and is a 3 mile drive down a dirt road off the main highway.

Chris and I operate Homestake Lodge year-round. We live in a home on-site. We both grew up in Maine and came to Montana in 2003. We started our XC ski area and lodge in 2007 and are continuing to grow the business. We are outdoor enthusiasts and love what we do and where we live...in the BIG SKY!

Why Mandy Axelson chose Butte

We live completely off-grid. All power is generated by solar panels on the barn and backed up by a generator. We use very little propane. We have a little slice of heaven in a peaceful spot under the mountains. We have an endless amount of trails out the back door; some of which are ours, and some of which are forest service. We live 3 miles from the Continental Divide, 10 miles from Butte, and 3 miles from a lake. There is lots to do in the immediate vicinity and even more in the surrounding area. All buildings were constructed in 2008. We live on the Boulder Batholith so there are many interesting and fun HUGE boulders to look at or play in.

We are located in the Beaverhead Deerlodge National Forest just east of the Continental Divide. Our property has 38km of ski trails which can be used for walking, hiking, and mountain biking during the spring, summer, and fall months. We are a 20 minute drive from historical Uptown Butte, which has a surprisingly interesting history. Day trips from the lodge may include Lewis and Clark Caverns, Homestake Lake or Delmoe Lake, hiking or biking the Continental Divide Trail, World Museum of Mining in Uptown Butte, the Jefferson River, the Big Hole River, and Our Lady of the Rockies.
