One bedroom serviced apartment for holidays and long term stays

The Parapet is a homely apartment on the ground floor of our heritage building with a generously sized outdoor deck.

The ensuite is a modern bathroom with underfloor heating and a large shower area.

The gourmet kitchen with four gas stoves, a full sized oven, microwave will make the most of our fresh Australian produce. In this apartment, two bar fridges compensate for the lack of a full sized fridge. A dishwasher and dishwashing liquid/tablets provided.

The apartment has a washing machine/dryer, a drying rack as well as an iron and ironing board.

This apartment is popular as a base for long term corporate travellers seeking a quiet home to return to in the evenings. High speed WiFi and also cabled connection with no daily limit will allow frequent video conferencing. Morning commutes are traffic-free and reliable via ferry.

Noted interior designer Romy Alwill has crafted beautiful, unique touches throughout these stunning apartments that enjoy prime waterfront position. The Balmain East ferry wharf is located just metres away from our doorstep so you can treat yourself to Sydney Harbour ferry rides daily. The Circular Quay to Darling Harbour ferry loops at our wharf every half hour. Only a short 10 minute traffic-free scenic ferry ride to King St Wharf, Darling Park, Darling Harbour, Pyrmont Bay and Jones Bay Wharf. The Growers' Market is held every first Saturday of the month, and the ferry ride to and from the market to the apartment is a little taste of idyllic island life.

Managed by Bannisters Point Lodge to a 4.5 Star standard there are only 4 serviced apartments within this 200 year old sandstone building. We are a boutique property in a unique waterfront location in a leafy suburb with a charming village community, moments away from Sydney city by bus or ferry.

Balmain is one of Sydney's oldest suburbs only 1km from the city, and is famous as a foodie destination, for pub crawls through the original pubs from the 1800's and weekend markets all centred around Balmain Village. You will find a warm and welcoming community among the bustling precinct of cafés and independent shops. The peninsula's motto is 'You'll never have to leave the peninsula'.

When you do venture across the harbour, Sydney Ferries will provide the most memorable experience to see our most loved sights.

Sydney is a city for all four seasons. In summer, festivals dot the city's venues every January weekend and Australia Day with the busiest being Sydney Festival and Mardi Gras. Easter and Anzac Day celebrations in autumn, also Opera on the Harbour. In winter, the winds are calmer and is perfect for sailing in the day, and at night for Vivid Light Festival. Winter is also peak time for cultural events like Sydney Writer's Fest, Sydney Film Festival and NAIDOC. In spring, catch various speaker events and pop up restaurants around town, and visit Hyde Park for Night Noodle Markets during Good Food Month all October.

The Darling Harbour Circular Quay ferry loop services Balmain East. It passes Goat Island, Lavender Bay, Luna Park and bobs under the Sydney Harbour Bridge for beautiful photo opportunities with the Sydney Opera House. Stop at Opera Bar, Botanical Gardens and venture to Mrs Macquaries Chair for the best of Sydney's endless summer. Change ferries here for daytrips to Manly, Taronga Zoo and Watson's Bay. Tall ships and specialty tours depart from here too.

To the west of the wharves, are The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Rocks historic fine dining precinct, Bridgeclimb and the Pylons at Sydney Harbour Bridge as well as Sydney Observatory and Argyle Steps.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Hyde Park, The Australian Museum and Sky Tower are within minutes of the CBD - the 442 bus will take you near Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building.

Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife Park and Madame Tussauds and the National Maritime in Darling Harbour are great for a quick tour but venture further into Darling Quarter for a water park playground and regular weekend cultural festivals. Plenty of affordable high quality restaurants in the area as well as the beautiful Chinese Gardens.

In Balmain, take an easy historic walk through Darling Street or detour to Ballast Point Park. The peninsula counts numerous local celebrities and national icons who grew up in the area. Most famously Dawn Fraser who learnt to swim at the pool at Elkington Park, one of our loveliest outdoor summer pools.

Fully refurbished in 2011, all mod cons. Unwind in our spacious bathtub with rims wide enough for candlelit evenings. A flexible showerhead with easy controls for temperature and pressure have been installed, as well as grip railing. A non-slip mat is provided, and step stool optional. All bathroom amenities provided, hair dryer and straightener provided. Fresh white towels and bathrobes replaced during housekeeping. Regular cleaning can be scheduled either twice weekly or weekly.

  • In the bedroom, there is a spacious wardrobe ideal for long stays, a secure safe and several power outlets for charging your electronics. Beds are fitted with luxurious feather toppers, a selection of pillows and clean white cotton sheets. The bedroom is located on a quiet corner of our building away from the main thoroughfare. Heating and airconditioning in apartment extends to the bedrooms. Rollaway bed and linens available at $30 per night, to be placed in living area. Portable cot available at $30 per night, can be placed in either of the two bedrooms, but linen not provided except for bedsheet. No locks on internal doors. Extra storage available for long term stays.
