About Charles Gallup

I and my Family built this home over a period of 10 years. the home was constructed from tree's cut down on the propery and milled in the drive way . We personally designed the home for Family and friends to enjoy.

Why Charles Gallup chose Lake Cowichan

Very private , 7 min. from town of Lake Cowichan

Locals say it is the warmest spot in Canada year round. ?

This is one of the most protected little bays on the lake ,

Great for Kids as the bay is full of crayfish and small fingerlings

The younger children all learn to snorkel here. and catch the fish .

Great winter time fishing lake . November through April.

Coastal Cut throat trout and Steelhead.

Paddle boarding and Kayaking are two of the newer attractions that are really catching on.

What makes this lodge unique

This Lake house was built in the Lodge style rather than the City home style.

And can accommodate larger numbers of guests. Book clubs are popular, Yoga clubs, Birders, Company retreats , and company out of the way meetings.

We have hosted company fishing tournaments also. We have one of the largest lots on the lake , with ample parking for 15 cars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

First rule of boating , ( watch where you are going. )

The sand bar is approx. 50 ft from the dock, In late August the lake , (due to lack of rain at this time of year ) always goes down. This lake rises and falls 9 + ft summer to winter . At the end of August there is approx. 5-6 ft of water under the dock. Our Grand children loved this time of year as the could snorkle and catch the cray fish all day long, from the time they were 4 years old.

My boat is 27 ft long and at no time have I ever had a problem with the amount of water under the dock.

Had a fantastic time in this lovely home! Lots of room very nice lay out. Vey clean, well maintained home! The view was perfect! Nice walking paths, a dock and fire pit ! The kids spent hours fishing... And even caught a couple of very delicious rainbow trout! We would rent this property again!

Be careful if you want your deosit back.

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here with some friends for a couple nights as sort of a high school reunion get away.

The location, house and views were amazing and we quite enjoyed ourselves. When it came time for the owner to return my deposit however, there were several issues brought up in which cost a few hundred dollars that didn't seem to make sense. A few of issues the owner had outlined in the reasoning's for not returning my full deposit had been verbally spoken about and agreed upon 1 day prior to me arriving. When I vacated the property, what we previously agreed on had apparently been mysteriously forgotten.

Fantastic place, shifty ownership in my opinion.

I hope you spend my money wisely. :)

Great House/Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This house is beautiful inside and very well equiped. The furniture looks great but is also very comfortable. The games room and seperate media room are great. The dock had plenty of space for the two boats we brought, and one was 27 feet long. Unfortunately the weather was....not so great and the fishing was slow, but it was November, luckily there is enough space to stretch out and things to do inside of the house to keep everyone happy. I'd stay again in an heartbeat. Thanks

Lots of space for 3 families

  • 4 of 5

This property was perfect for three families to share. It was clean and well stocked with plenty of linens and dishes. We enjoyed the sunny dock and the large deck as well as the fire pit. The kids loved the games room and the media room with lots of movies in the evenings. One note to mention is that if you have a boat, watch for the sandbar extending from the point of land almost to the dock and also note that the water is too shallow to dive off the dock. We would definately (and hope to) rent this place again.
