Charming and quirky

Stayed here for a long weekend, and thought the cabin was completely charming! Ellerie, the owner, is clearly a collector, and everywhere you look there are treasures and surprises. Ellerie was very present and accommodating, she supplied a fridge full of food, and came through while we were away to tidy up. We enjoyed making breakfasts in the mornings, exploring the nooks and crannies of the cabin, and sitting up at night by the fire pit. I spent most of my days outside on the deck, taking in gorgeous views, and reading or napping.

I would definitely recommend this place, with two caveats: first, although the cabin itself is quite private, there wasn't a lot of privacy within the cabin. The floorplan is open, and only one of the bedrooms had a real door. This didn't bother us, but I can imagine how it could be a surprise. Also, it would be helpful to have an appreciation for knicknacks, big and small. To some, our cabin may have seemed cluttered, but (as I mentioned) we found it to be fulled with things to discover.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

the perfect place for a family reunion!

We just returned from a long week end at this fabulous place! My family was attending a wedding near by and my husband and I and our 4 adult children and their beaux stayed in 2 of the cabins. I stayed in the River House and found it very comfortable and full of funky charm. every corner is filled with whimsey and delight. We over flowed into the smaller cabin next door. Both spaces have cozy places to sit in front of the wood stove,books to read, magazines to look at and the refrigerator is replenished daily with breakfast foods and local produce. We enjoyed the sound of the near by river as we sat out on the decks or by the fire pit that was our late night gathering place. The family took advantage of the open lay out , sleeping in every available space, not a lot a privacy but the beds were very comfortable and the linens beautiful. We all talked from our beds long into the night. A bonding experience for a close family that lives far apart. It was a pleasure to come home and find the place tidied and yummy treats, a warm fleece or more ice left for our enjoyment.
We have family in the area and we look forward to staying here in the future.
