About The Owner

We owned one of the most highly rated gourmet restaurants in northeast Michigan until retiring last September in order to spend more time with family and travel. We continue to provide personal chef service.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2004

Why The Owner chose Oscoda

Sandy grew up in nearby Harrisville. Tim grew up in Howell and spent lots of time at his grandparent's Lake Huron home. We both love the area and that big lake! This was the best beach we could find so here we are!

What makes this cottage unique

We love spending time on the beach swimming, walking and sun bathing. In the evenings we love to build a fire and star gaze. If you live in metropolitan area you will be amazed at the star shine. Keep watch for the northern lights too.

Great get away

  • 5 of 5
This was a great little place to stay. Even with the close proximity of other homes it felt very private. Might have been the time of year but in the 2 days we were there we didn't see or hear anybody from the cabin. Felt like we had the lake to ourselves.

Everything a vacation should be

The cabin was all we had hoped for. It was comfortable, clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the privacy, peace and quiet. Sitting on the beach watching the sunrise each morning was refreshing. We're looking forward to our next visit.

WE WANT TO LIVE HERE!!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed a full week (7 days) at this beautiful cottage. From the minute we pulled up, we were impressed at our surroundings. The location is perfect and as 2 busy executives, we totally appreciated the seclusion. The cottage is decorated beautifully, the woodwork is gorgeous and the kitchen is stocked with every pot, pan, dish you could possibly imagine. The back yard has the best of both worlds with a wonderful deck surrounded by woods and a path leading to a wonderful private, sugar sand beach. The lake is free of rocks, clean and clear!! We also had our 2 furbabies (dogs) with us and they had a ball. Oscoda and Tawas are both nearby for quick trips to the grocery. Both towns have great parks with wonderful piers for walking, sunbathing and picnics. We also went kayaking on the beautiful AuSable River. I was reluctant to write such a stellar review because we plan to book as often as possible and don’t want to risk this cottage being unavailable. Haha. If the owner ever wants to sell, we ask that he contact us ;-)

One Week Was Not Enough!!

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is just perfect. We had a wonderfully relaxing time. We took full advantage of the many golf courses, and shooting range in the area. Usually after a week away, we are glad to be heading home, but not this vacation.
The only drawback was that the water was too cold to swim in during our stay.

A Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5
This cottage on Lake Huron is comfortable, clean, and has all needed for a relaxing get-away. We enjoyed the privacy of the wooded lot, but also the clear view of the Lake from the sun room. The beach is sandy and wide enough for walks. We found the location of the cottage convenient to Oscoda, Tawas, and the National Forest. We would recommend this cottage for a relaxing retreat at the lake.

Highly Recommended!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I had a wonderful 3 night stay at this property. The cottage is very clean and well-stocked. The kitchen especially contains everything one would need to cook even the most elaborate dinner. Speaking of which, we opted to have the owner, who is a chef, cook for us the first night of our stay. He created a fabulous meal of shrimp ceviche served in perfectly ripe avocado halves, grilled N.Y. Strip and garlic smashed potatoes. We enjoyed chatting with him while he cooked and we drank martinis. As advertised, the beach is gorgeous and very walkable. There are bird feeders around the cabin
and we saw Baltimore Orioles and Scarlet Tanagers. A wonderful property!
