We offer a peaceful getaway in a quaint log cabin. The suite accommodates 4 and is located on the lower level of the owner's home. Our location provides for both the adventurous, and for the traveller looking to de-stress to the sound of a trickling creek.
The chalet has a newly refurbished kitchen, and ensuite bathroom. After a long day in the great outdoors our queen size bed will comfort your weary bones to sleep. In the morning fresh ground coffee, teas, hot chocolate and breads will help you welcome a new day of activities.
Cross-country ski straight out of the door or head to the ski lifts just a few blocks away. Try your luck panning for gold at Crow Creek Mine or hike the Chugach National Forest. Pick up this year's gifts at any of the many local artist craft shops. Other sites worthwhile visiting like Portage glacier, Whittier, Seward are all within short driving distance.
For lazier days you can relax in front of the TV, playing the WII or reading one of our many books or just enjoy the company of good friends on the patio and barbecue to the backdrop of Mt. Alyeska.
We look forward to seeing you and share a piece of our Alaska.

Thank you for the wonderful last minute accommodations! Very relaxing & quiet! You have a beautiful home.
My wife and I visited Girdwood with my parents and had a fantastic stay here. The host was extremely accommodating to our late night arrival, and helped answer questions we had about Alaska before we arrived, and even further on our trip. They were a great resource, and it felt so good to be traveling a long ways, but have someone on the other end helping answer last minute questions and curiosities. They also made fantastic recommendations on great places to eat, shop, hike, etc.
Inside we found probably the cleanest, most organized rental I've ever stayed in. The place was so quaint, with beautiful woodwork, books, games, DVDs, a compete kitchen, coffees and muffins for breakfast, and a gorgeous walk-out patio within an earshot of a small creek that runs only about 10 yards away. I could have sat there for days.
My folks took the bedroom that was very spacious with two closets, and my wife and I took the pull-out sofa which worked just fine and was even already made up for our late night arrival (thank you again). We had plenty of room for bags and gear. There’s even a small coat-rack/shoe/boot area outside the apartment door in a foyer area to put clothes after a wet day of hiking.
The property itself is on a small street, so there was very little traffic, very little noise, just pure quiet. The location is also walkable to a few restaurants and stores for food/drinks (about a half mile) and some great hiking trails with trailheads near the resort only being a little over a mile away. Easily walkable. It was a great way to start our trip, and we all agreed that we could have easily stayed longer to just sit and enjoy the apartment as much as we enjoyed hiking and touring throughout Girdwood and the surrounding area. We would gladly go back the next time we come to town.
We stayed for three nights and felt very fortunate. Laura is a thoughtful host in everything she has done to make the chalet a pleasure to stay at. The bed is so comfortable and we slept so soundly. Spacious and immaculate, in a beautiful setting, staying here just added to an overall wonderful Alaska experience.
We stayed in this lovely, homely chalet for 2 nights. Beautiful setting with the river flowing through the garden. Spotlessly clean, fantastic comfortable bed with luxurious linen. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of books and information on Alaska and also private and peaceful. We would highly recommend staying in this lovely chalet.
Immaculately kept, comfortable, beautiful, peaceful, all the comforts of home. Our week at the chalet seemed to go much too fast, and it was a very wistful goodbye. Laura and Soren (and Barley) are most gracious hosts, and they made sure we had everything we needed. Lots to do within a short traveling distance--railroad/conservation center/and glacier tours within 10 miles, and Kenai peninsula for day trips. The price per day is beyond reasonable!! Highly recommend!
My first reaction on entering this home was "WOW". I loved the ambiance the minute i set my eyes on it. The first thing i noticed were the three wooden blocks which said " Be welcome, be warm be at home". That's exactly how my family and I felt.
Loved the collection of their books and films. A treat in true sense.
Going back totally relaxed and rejuvenated with a keen desire to visit again and soon.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Alyeska Chalet. It was a wonderful place to relax, write, think and to use as a base to see the breath taking sights Alaska has to offer. Equally close to Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula, this chalet is a wonderful place to stay at night then see the sights during the day. Laura and her family could not have been nicer. It is the perfect size for an individual, couple or small family. I found it to be clean, appealing, had plenty to do, and everything worked as it was supposed to. It was much nicer and more appealing than hotel rooms in the Girdwood area that are smaller and a lot more expensive. I highly recommend this property for your consideration. You will not be disappointed.
