Mr. Krabs is a charming ocean front cottage with a quaint cabin feel. You'll love the direct beach access with a covered porch and sun deck perfect for relaxing and watching the sunrise and sunset. This cottage is very unique because it is in a convenient location close to shopping, but feels very private since there is not a direct neighbor on either side. From Mr. Krabs you can walk to the ice cream store, coffee house, breakfast places and beach shops. You will enjoy a great nights sleep on top of the line Sealy beds in this comfortable beach cottage. You will have your choice of bedrooms one with a king size bed, two with queens and one with twins. All hardwood floors make this an easy house to keep tidy and free of sand. Under the house there are additional parking spaces and a hot and cold shower.

About The Owner

We purchased this home in 2003 when our kids were little and loved Sponge Bob...hence the name Mr. Krabs! We were fortunate to live at the beach (in Southport) for two years but now we live in Greensboro, NC but go to the coast as much as we can. We love the laid back feel of Oak Island and Southport.

Why The Owner chose Oak Island

This property was special to us since it was the only house in a row of six to survive Hurricane Floyd. People always comment how this cottage takes them back to fond childhood memories of the knotty pine beach house days. Days were it wasn't about being fussy in a beach house and where the kids could just be kids.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the direct beach access and the sun and shade porch. We also love having the ability to walk the kids to the Dairy Queen at night instead of having to get in the car. Our beds are the best! We love the shabby chic decor! Our white painted floors brighten the home and keep everything fresh and clean.

Mr. Krabs is one of the most convenient beach houses to the grocery store, restaurants and coffee house. Although very convenient also very private! There are no houses directly on either side of Mr. Krabs so when you are staring at the ocean you feel like you are miles away from everything!

Love Mr. Krabs

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mr. Krabs. The owner was a pleasure to work with. The cottage is so cute and very comfortable. It sits just on the beach. The views are incredible....very relaxing. It was wonderful to enjoy morning coffee on the deck and watch the dolphins. Loved it!!! It was our first visit to Oak Island and Mr. Krabs. We happily look forward to a future stay. The cottage, the beach, the area is VERY family friendly. Great weekend. Thanks to the owners!!!! (And awesome artwork by Will!!! My 8yr. old son was impressed and very encouraged to do more of his own art!!)

Thanksgiving Get-Away

This had to be one of my most favorite long weekends. Sitting on the deck watching the sun rising on the ocean with a cup of coffee...ahhhhh. Your home is very comfortable, perfect for our family and dogs.
We definitely would love to stay at Mr Krabs again.

Beachfront paradise!

Perfect beachfront accommodation with full kitchen and plenty of room. Also just a short drive to grocery and restaurants on Oak Island and a reasonable drive into historic Southport, where you can easily spend the day eating and shopping along the waterfront. My fourth trip to this paradise, and I hope not my last!

Mr. Krabs!

This was the perfect vacaion home for my family of 5. We have a 15, 12 and 5 year old that it is ery hard to plan something as a family. This was the perfect place! The bedrooms were nice and roomy and the beds were sooooo comfy! Beautful deck overlooking the beach. We could spend the day on the beach without worring about thekids. Very safe! My husband and I enjoyed our coffee each morning on it. Mr. Krabs was the perfect location to EVERYTHING. The beach was just a short walk over the dunes and grocery shopping was just around the corner. My girls walked to shopping and to ice cream throughout the week. Mr. Krabs had the perfect summer cottage feel and had everything needed to live. Very clean and loved the homey feel of it. We loved the fact that we could bring our dog too! The walks on the beach will be missed!!! We will definately book this home again! Thanks Kathleen and Mike for an unforgettable time!

A real gem on the beach

We rented this cottage in August of 2011. We had flown in my parents to celebrate their anniversary and were looking for a place to relax and enjoy the beach. In all, there were 6 of us and one dog. This proved to be the perfect location for a wonderful, relaxing vacation on the beach. Oak Island beach is a great beach for sunbathing, swimming or even athletic activities.

The owner of Mr. Krabs is very accommodating and easy to work with. When we arrived, we noticed that there was an issue with the hinges on one of the exterior doors. I texted the caretaker and he arrived to repair the door within 1.5 hours. We only encountered one other problem while staying at Mr. Krabs. Kathleen was fully understanding and resolved it much to our satisfaction.

The house is set up well so that everyone has a nice private bedroom. Two of the bedrooms have doors which open to the porch. With a large porch and a deck, there is plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors. A very short walk over the dune (which will be the only thing separating you from the beach) and you are walking on the beach.

This is a quiet area, perfect for families or those looking to kick back and relax.
