The name states it all – Slow down and enjoy a different pace of life on the easy side of the lake!
There are plenty of grander, newer homes at Beachwalk, but if you’re looking for a cozy, comfy, quirky little place that you can quickly call home, then Terrapin is the place for you!
At Stop 7 on Lake Shore Drive, turn right onto Beachwalk Lane, and about a half block down on the left is the green-toned Terrapin Station. Note all your neighbors’ inviting front porches. Beachwalk was designed with families in mind and presenting an inviting, nostalgic, hometown streetscape on Beachwalk Lane.
Walk up the front porch, but don’t rest in the old-time swing yet. Step inside the open living space: fireplace, queen-size sleeper sofa, chairs, TV/DVD/Stereo system, half-bath, fully-equipped kitchen and dining area.
The porches and decks at Terrapin are what make it really special! Only a half-block from the beach, relax on the front porch with its swing and chairs to watch the daily parade of people to and from the beach; the sun deck with its chaise lounges, table, chairs and umbrella; the back deck with chairs and gas grill off the kitchen; and the adjoining screened-in porch with dining table and summer seating area.
There are four parking spaces: two in front and two in back.
Internet service is provided through Wi-Fi.
Activities abound at Beachwalk. In addition to Lake Michigan, there is the pool, Lake Kai and its small lake activities like kayaking and paddle boarding, a tennis court, a basketball court, a putting green, and several kid-friendly greens and parks throughout the development.
In the immediate area are: Mt. Baldy dunes, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Washington Park and its boat marina and zoological garden, several museums of local historic significance, the Blue Chip Casino, Lighthouse Place Premium Outlet Mall, AMC movie complex, the Vickers and Featherbone theatres in Three Oaks, New Buffalo, Harbor Country and its many wineries, strawberry/blueberry picking…it’s all within 30 minutes of Terrapin Station!
Just bring your own sun screen; beach towels, chairs and toys; cooler; and sense of adventure.
'Where crickets and cicadas sing a rare and different tune, Terrapin Station!'

The house was in a great location but the house is in a desperate need of a facelift. The kitchen floor was grimy and dingy looking. The kitchen sink was stained and gross looking. 1990's televisions, and upstairs 2nd bathroom was tiny and hard to move in while bathing kids. The Decour was that of a frat house and it had a funky smell even though it was cleaned by house keeping. When renting for a week you would expect more updated nicer house. I would not rev omens this house other than for location purposes only.
We had a wonderful time at this house. It was spacious enough to give us room to spread out but not so huge we were lost in it. The front porch was very wide and had a great swing, great for morning coffee. The screen porch in the back, although detached from the house was awesome, a table and chairs to eat at and comfortable furniture to rest on. The house was very close to the beach which was great for the little kids. We had plenty of room to put all the food and snacks we brought as the kitchen is a good size. A minor drawback was there is no where in the yard for kids to play as the landscaping is very thick and tall. There are playgrounds nearby but sometimes it would have been nice for them to play right there. All in all it was a wonderful week. We grilled out most nights and had great weather. I would recommend this house highly.
This house was the perfect location in the Beachwalk community. It was just 3 houses from the street to cross to Lake Michigan (very nice beach) and a 1-2 minute walk to trhe pool and office. Terrapin Station had everything you need for a comfortable stay including a well supplied kitchen, comfortable beds, comfortable family room, nice patios, grill. Would recommend starying there again!
The family room was comfortable for late night movies with the family, the bedrooms were spaciouse with very comfortable beds, more than enough room for us! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and a nice grill for outdoor cooking. The house was very clean and comfortable. Location was great, 3 houses from the street to the beach and a 1-2 min walk to the pool.. Beachwalk resort was nice with a pool, kayaking, paddleboarding, bicycles for rent. It was just the right amount of things for my famlly. Thanks for sharing your home--we will be back!
My family and I and some friends and their children stayed here over Labor Day Weekend. We had a great time. The house was terrific. It was clean, in great condition and was in an excelent location. We had a great time and would rent this house again in the future!
