We are a happy couple who began as high school sweethearts, and now have been married almost 35 years...with 4 married children and 12 grandchildren. (Time really does fly :) We bought this beautiful log home in 2008 and have had many wonderful vacations here, enjoying the outdoors and relaxing. We love roasting hot dogs, marshmallows and making s'mores/choco-biscuits (a family favorite :) around the fire pit and playing basketball, Bocce ball, riding bikes, and running and playing in the backyard. We love to fish and hike and have had many opportunities to do just that! The scenery at the nearby Bryce Canyon National Park and Cedar Breaks, etc. are so breath taking and some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Make sure to take a camera! Panguitch Lake is wonderful and has boat rentals. We have taken the entire family on a boat and all the older grandkids were able to catch a fish! On one of our adventures to Bryce Canyon we even found a Geocache, which was very exciting. All around, we absolutely love to get away from the city and enjoy nature and the great outdoors here at our RED ROOF RETREAT!!

Kevin Roberts purchased this cabin in 2008

We chose this location because it is central to so many National Parks and lakes (you can even ice fish in the winter), and we absolutely love the quaint small-town atmosphere of Panguitch, Utah!! We had toyed with the idea of buying a home here for many years, and jumped on the opportunity to buy this beautiful log home...the RED ROOF RETREAT, we call it! The towns people in Panguitch are some of the most friendly people we have ever met. They treat you like family from the minute you say hello. We now have our favorite stores to visit and restaurants that we can't wait to enjoy! There is even a pizza delivery if we can't pull ourselves away from the most comfortable sofa we have ever owned! All around, it is a beautiful, tranquil, amazing setting and we absolutely love it!! Can't wait to get there ourselves :)

Great place to stay! There was plenty of room for our family of 10. Kitchen is nicely equipped and plenty of space. Quite neighborhood, close to Bryce canyon and not far to Zion Park. We would stay here again!

Amazing Family Vacation

We came here with another family to relax after a long sports tournament. The children range in age from 7-15 and they all loved it. We took advantage of the big yard and of course the camp fire circle. Campfire stories and s'mores two nights in a row.
The thing that shocked us the most is that the house actually looks like the pictures, the kitchen and dining area were big and we cooked all our meals in, the bedrooms were so cute the kids all got to sleep in beds with their friends. Big thanks for the big selection of Disney movies which made winding down a bit easier!
For those of you looking to stay here instead of Bryce it's an easy drive and the grocery store in town has plenty of everything so don't worry about shopping on the way.
Thanks Kevin for opening your home!

This is an excellent location when visiting Bryce National Park. Only 25 minutes door to door and after hiking the canyons, it was a pleasure to return to such a cosy, warm and comfortable home away from home. The home has all the amenities that one would need. There isn't any item missing for preparing meals in the beautiful kitchen. We would definitely pass on this jewel.

This house is filthy

Three of my girlfriends and I rented this home Sept. 3 - 8, 2012. It is a very nice home in a great location. We were in town to hike Bryce Canyon. When we arrived at the home we were very dismayed at the condition of the interior. It was FILTHY! We had to go to the store and buy cleaning products before we could even put our food in the refrigerator. There was opened food, spilled food, three half used cubes of butter and outdated milk in the fridge. It smelled awful and took us an hour to clean it. There was bacon grease still on the stove.....it had not even been wiped down, let alone cleaned. The oven has not been cleaned in probably years. We had to put bath towels on the floors of the bathrooms since the bathroom rugs were so dirty. We actually took pictures of the hair and dirt on the bath floors. The dust and cobwebs were unbelievable. I immediately e-mailed the owner and reported the filth. He wrote back and said 'he'd talk to the housekeeper'. That was it. No offer to have someone come in and clean, no offer to refund our cleaning fee, no more contact. The windows are caked with dirt, the shower stall was grimy and we had to wash the dishes before we used them. There are food crumbs in all of the drawers so we had to wash the silverware, too. I have rented many homes through VRBO and have NEVER seen anything like this. To add insult to injury, in order to get our damage deposit returned, we were required to strip our beds and vacuum the entire house before leaving. AND, the vacuum didn't work. In reading the guest book, the vacuum hasn't been working for months. To date, we still have not received our damage deposit. I have contacted the owner, and he assures me he'll 'get right on it'. I do agree with some of the previous reviews that this is a lovely home, the beds are very comfortable and the location is good. However, it is so disappointing to spend the first day of your vacation cleaning a house you've already paid someone to clean. I would NOT recommend this home.
Owner's Response: I'm not sure why I'm even responding to this review. We have always tried to do our best to make everyone enjoy there time at our Red Roof Retreat and as hard as we do you can't please everyone.
We realize our place is in the Country and therefore there is going to be dust. I'm not going to comment on everything said because everyone has there opinion. We have never had a negative response so I guess this happens once in awhile.
We hope that everyone that comes to the Red Roof Retreat has an enjoyable time.
In 2 years this is a first and I will strive even better to make this a Great place to get a way.
This is where me and my Family go to get away and relax and we hope you can do the same.

Thanks Kevin

Five Guys Hiking

We spent a week at this great house in Panguitch UT as a home base for day hikes into Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon North Rim, Capitol Reef, and Grand Staircase. We could not have picked a better location, especially for Bryce. The house is in the tiny town, one block off main street and just four blocks from town center. It's the nicest house on the street, with the nicest yard. Internet worked, Direct TV worked, A/C worked, roomy kitchen and great room. Owner is no nonsense, easy to work with, quick to respond to emails from his cell phone. Gave me his personal number in case I had any problems.

Word of warning: once you get off the interstate, you are very limited in shopping. You won't find a Walmart or Home Depot so plan ahead. Panguitch has a nice little grocery store, and enough places to eat to get you through the week, but don't try to find a place to buy a pair of tennis shoes.
