The condo is beautiful, well laid out and very well equipped and maintained. Ideally located for us with easy midpoint access south to Makena and north to the roads to Hana and Lahaina. We think this place is a terrific value.

The location was worth the rental by itself, but there were many other excellent things about the condo! We ate dinner on the lanai several times, and enjoyed the lovely sunset as we ate. Cooking was a snap due to your fully-stocked kitchen, which we took full advantage of after visiting Costco!

The 180 degree ocean view was incredible and we enjoyed morning walks along the beach in front of the condo.

We saw a humpback whale breach from the lanai, and loved our ocean view. The owner communicated with us promptly and efficiently, and I would definately recommend this property.

Recent Renovations: New tiled floors throughout condo. Completely renovated bathroom with new bathtub. New double white doors seperating the bedroom from the living room.

Christine and Ingrid welcome you to our centrally air conditioned condo in beautiful Maui. We own a one bedroom condo in Kauhale Makai also known as Village by the Sea, located at 938 South Kihei Road, Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. We now have Highspeed Internet access in our condo at no extra charge to you.

Our condo has a king-size bed in the bedroom, a very comfortable queen-size pull-out couch in the living room and there is also a roll-a-way bed (single) which can be set up anywhere in the condo. Our condo is most suitable for two adults or a family of three or four. There is a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The dining room seats four.

There is a beautiful ocean view from the lanai as well as from the interior of the condo. The Kauhale Makai complex includes an adult pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, miniature putting green and we share the beachfront tennis courts with the Luana Kai next door. There is a concierge in the lobby with other fun suggestions for you as well.

About The Owner

I have been in the Maui condo rental business for over twenty five years and have, over the years sent thousands of happy guests to our condos.

We're located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada (just outside Vancouver). We have been married for thirty eight years and have three children with whom we spent many happy holidays on Maui and continue to do so now as well. At one point we even talked about packing up and moving to Maui but that did not materialize.

Our hobbies are cycling (especially around our gorgeous seawall here in Vancouver), walking, yoga, reading and going to the cinema.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1980
Why The Owner chose Kihei

Our in-laws had bought a condo in Kihei and were always telling us about the fabulous beaches, good weather (far less rain than on other parts of the island), casual atmosphere and great location of Kihei and that is how we ended up buying a condo in Kihei as well.

What makes this condo unique

Kauhale Makai has beautiful tropical gardens, a kiddies pool as well as a large pool, Jacuzzi and sauna baths, shuffleboard, BBQS and Central A/C in all units as well as an ocean view from each unit.

We spent one month and our stay in this condo was wonderful. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and even got a picture from the Lanai of the sun coming up over Haleakala. This unit has everything that you would need. We enjoyed the beach chairs and beach umbrella, it is well stocked with cooking utensils. The photos that you see in the listing are exactly what the condo is like. Christine was very helpful in sending us lots of information on dining and things to do on Maui. We really enjoyed the fact as well that there is a very comfortable king size bed. It was also nice to have a dishwasher in the unit which meant you were not doing dishes after every meal. There are a lot of little things that made this unit seem like home. Yes I would highly recommend this unit to everyone. It is very clean and it is supplied with everything a person needs.

I would recommend this condo to anyone one of my friends and family. My husband and I searched and searched the web to find a place to stay and came across the Village by the Sea. The owners were wonderful and answered all of our questions. They were very easy to work with. The condo provided everything we needed which included beach chairs, umbrellas, items for snorkeling, cooler, beach towels, etc. We felt so relaxed. The view was AMAZING. The view from the lanai was breathtaking. We had the mountains on the left and the ocean on the right. The sunsets were beautiful. The place was clean and welcoming. Everyone that stayed there was very friendly and made you feel at home. Restaurants and stores were within walking distance. Beautiful beaches were nearby and great for snorkeling. This was our first time to Maui and could not have been more pleased with where we stayed. We will stay there again when we visit Maui.

BREATHTAKING VIEW!!!!

We had a short but wonderful time in Maui and your very spacious and comfortable condo with the fabulous view made it all the better. I didnt realize how windy Maui was, when we couldnt stay down at the pool any longer we went back to the condo, as that side of the building shielded the wind, and sat out on the larage lanai and enjoyed the aftertoon there. Your condo had everything you could think of and the grounds were beautiful. Thank you and we would definately return.

Everything you need for a Maui vacation

The condo is as close to the center of Maui as you can get. We had planned to go north of Napili for snorkeling, east to the Hana Highway and upcountry for food, and south to Makena for beaches (all after Costco), and this condo proved to be ideal for that. It's only a (very) short drive to the Kihei bars and shopping too.

It is exactly as it is pictured in the photos and quite spacious, airy, and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, glasses, pots and utensils so that you can stay in and relax after a busy day if that is your choice. The bed was huge and comfortable. The pool(s) and grills were also a big plus. All of the beach toys are there, so if you are looking to explore the island, lounge on the beach, or spend your time in Maui indoors, this is the ideal rental for any of those activities.

Great Accomodations for Travelers with Young Children

The condo was equipped with everything we needed, which I find rare! It had everything for the beach and the kitchen also had everything we needed. We ate in a lot having a young one (18 months) and the condo worked great. The barbeque's were clean and everyone shared when needed. The pool area also accommodated our son well, having a wading pool was perfect. A few other notes, the condo is kid-friendly with little to "get into" and there's a tub for baths. The roll-away bed worked great, we pulled the mattress off and set it on the floor, which saved us from having to rent a crib. Our son loved the pool and enjoyed the grassy areas surrounding the complex. Nearby there were a number of beaches with shallow areas and small waves with a perfect sand for sandcastles. There were a couple of beach umbrellas in the unit which are awesome for protecting their gentle skin!
We spent a lot of time exploring local beaches. We’ve been to Maui but had never stayed in Kihei. It was a nice change and we’ll be in touch when we return. We loved having breakfast and coffee on the lanai, having a view of the ocean and the mountains was such a treat. We even saw a few whales from the room!
