Our guesthouse is uniquely situated in a quiet neighborhood of summer homes on the spectacular all sand beach of Bowers Harbor on West Grand Traverse Bay. It is southwesterly facing with panoramic views from left to right of the Bowers Harbor Marina, Traverse City, beautiful Bowers Harbor, Power Island, Leelanau County and Neahtawanta Point. It is on the same piece of property, side-by-side with the owner's house on 110' of the most beautiful beach in the entire area, with 25' for your own private use. Enjoy swimming in the gently sloped sand bottom lake with it's clear blue water and have a beach fire while you watch the sunset at night. It has it's own natural path to the beach and the road is well behind the property, not between the guesthouse and the lake.
Day trips to the quaint villages of Elk Rapids, Suttons Bay, Frankfort, Glen Lake, Northport, Leland, Omena, Empire and the sand dunes, Beulah and Charlevoix make wonderful excursions. Old Mission Peninsula has many well known wineries, one within walking distance. Amazing restaurants are also nearby, including the Boathouse, a short 1000' walk down the beach from the guesthouse. A specialty grocery store with gas station are a mile away.
The guesthouse has central air conditioning and was completely updated in 2009, see pictures. Accommodations include beach chairs with a table and beach umbrella on the beach as well as chairs and table in the shade over looking the beach.
Fall color tours are spectacular in October.
Traverse City area ammenities include 2 fabulous farmers' markets each week, the up-and-coming Warehouse District with it's brew pub, other downtown brew pubs, the Village at Grand Traverse Commons with it's unique restaurants (Stella's), Mercado and specialty shops, Interlochen Arts Academy concerts, and the state of the art Traverse City State Theatre with it's annual film festival in August.
Because of the nature of this property, only 2 people may occupy the guesthouse and no others are allowed to visit or accompany the renters. A damage/extra use deposit is collected at the time of the reservation. THE GUESTHOUSE IS FOR 1-2 QUIET, NON-SMOKING ADULTS, PLEASE NO PARTIES OR OTHER GUESTS AT ANY TIME.

Our section of Bowers Harbor Beach is stone free and faces southwest. It is the most beautiful beach and view in the area. Prior to 1984 we searched the area for years looking for everything this property has.
Our house and guesthouse are in a neighborhood of older or newly restored summer homes. It is uniquely beautiful, quiet, and has the best beach anywhere. The guesthouse was updated throughout in 2009 and 2010.
Beautiful view, and a darling guest cottage. This place looks small on the pictures, but it is like staying in an oversized hotel suite. With the separate bedroom, and a pleasant sized living area, it is a great place. Spotlessly clean, and a great view. What more could you want??
This adorable, newly renovated, squeaky clean cottage far exceeded our expectations! It has absolutely everything two people would need for a peaceful, relaxing vacation by the water. Gorgeous beach and in perfect proximity to all the fun stuff - downtown Traverse, the Wineries and of course the Jolly Pumpkin, (which we visited twice during our 2 night stay! :) Private and cozy, we will definitely be back, and for a longer stay! Two nights just wasn't enough. :)
I'm from Traverse City, but down live downstate now. I wanted a special getaway up north with my boyfriend. This was a perfect place to stay, whether you're familiar with the area or not. It was absolutely perfect! Nancy and her husband were easy to get ahold of before we arrived and were so friendly during our stay. The spot is quiet and romantic, the house was comfy and charming, and we loved going down to our own "private beach" first thing in the morning or at night for some relaxation. The location was nice too; we could do some wine tasting on the peninsula or go into town for more adventure. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
My husband and I had a great time at this cute little guesthouse! It's much more modern, clean and spacious than the photos suggest. Lots of counter space in the kitchen, big comfy bed...I slept really well there. The house was cool no matter the temperature outside.
Great beach, nice and sandy with few rocks. And we loved cooking meals on the fire pit and experimenting with different s'mores combos every other night.
Would stay again for sure if planning another trip in Traverse.
Our property is a beautiful and quiet place where tranquility and peacefulness abound. Many people have told us they have felt renewed by their time spent here.

Only 1 or two people are allowed as renters of our guesthouse. The $100 (or $200) damage/extra-use deposit is forfeited if more than the contracted 1 or 2 renters are allowed on the property. We do this for the privacy of our neighbors who are summer-only residents, respecting their need for privacy and quiet.
Reservations are "penciled" into owner's calendar when arranged with owner, "inked" in when rent is received. Early reservations can be made by paying half of rental amount and cleaning fee more than 2 months in advance, with the rest due April 1. Reservations made with less than 2 months to time are paid upfront. The extra people/damage deposit ($100/$200-refundable) is due on arrival.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (USD) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
