Turkey Cove Farmhouse is an authentic and rustic Maine farmhouse with magnificent sunset views overlooking the cove for which it was named. With 10 acres of wildflowers, views of bucolic waterways, manicured lawns, mature trees and close proximity to Port Clyde, Tenants Harbor and Drift Inn Beach, the Farmhouse is peaceful in a simple and straightforward way.
The house has been part of the Lloyd Family for years and has been a place to escape to. The location is quiet — many times, all you will hear is the wind in the trees. The house boasts original wood floors, architectural details and a simplicity that can't truly be replicated.
Granite steps lead into the kitchen — the kitchen is equipped with modern appliances (oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc.). Any cook will find all things necessary to cook meals of all types — from small to large. And large meals are always a good thing at Turkey Cove — the dining room can seat as many people as the house can sleep! There are place settings for up to 20 people as well.
Off the kitchen, find a full bathroom with washer and dryer. The best part of the house, the classic farmer's porch complete with the sky blue, bead board ceiling, overlooks the fields and the water beyond. This is a great place to sit and relax, watch the sunset or do a little work. It's quite the office — the house's high speed WiFi works out on the porch and many an important conference call has happened while sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs.
The living room has plenty of seating in chairs and couches and has a television with basic cable hook up; and another small one with DVD player built in. Off the living room, find a small bedroom with a mahogany antique full bed — the bed can sleep two small people, but would be most comfortable for one adult. In this room find the game closet as well with many games for people of all ages.
Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms, 4 with water views, and 2 bathrooms.
The first upstairs bedroom has views of the water and a full-sized bed. The second upstairs bedroom, which is the master, has a king-sized bed created from a pair of antique twin beds, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and a wonderful view of the side yard.
The third bedroom has one twin bed with views of the water and is across the hall from the full bath with a claw-foot tub/shower combination.
The fourth and fifth bedrooms are connected by a bathroom — the front bedroom has a double bed with views of the water from the dormer. The back bedroom looking out to the meadow has two twins and is tucked into the eaves of the house with a skylight and water view. The bathroom separating these two bedrooms has a stall shower.
Turkey Cove Farmhouse is an ideal spot for family reunions and family vacations. It is also well-suited for a writer or painter's retreat.
