Craftsman style cottage nestled behind our primary residence. The cottage is surrounded by a large, lush garden. Originally built in 1936 but was completely renovated in 2006. The cottage and garden have stunning panoramic ocean view. A charming galley kitchen is just perfect for whipping up breakfast before a big day at the beach. Claw-foot tub for soaks after a long day of shopping in downtown Laguna. Walking distance to beach, shops and park. Sip wine while watching the sun go down behind Catalina Island from your patio or the garden. We are located in a lively, fun neighborhood. This property is best suited for laid back and fun people!

The Adams family has been fortunate to live in this beautiful, original Laguna village property since the early sixties. Ursula and daughter Siri with her 2-years old son live in the upper portion of the main house while the cottage is reserved for guests from all over the world. The cottage was once an art studio to a local artist in the 1930's when the home was built and reflects the arts and crafts of Laguna Beach. We are fun and upbeat people that love the outdoors, gardening and all sports.
Ursula Adams purchased this cottage in 1965
Our stay at the cottage was wonderful! The cottage is tastefully designed, well appointed, and well maintained. There is a wonderful garden that is lush and full of whimsical surprises. Every morning we took our breakfast outside watching hummingbirds feeding in the "giant" sage. In the evening we could have sipped a glass of wine or lemonade on the top terrace while watching the sun set over the ocean; but we were still at the beach. Galleries, beaches and restaurants are within walking distance down the hillside- recommended to the fit only because the way back up after a day at the beach can be quite a workout. Otherwise, finding metered parking downtown Laguna Beach is possible, if a little tricky at times.
We recommend a visit to the Laguna Art Museum.
We could not ask for anything more perfect for our Mother-Daughter getaway. The cottage is completely lovely, is in a great location, and has everything you need for your stay (except maybe a full-length mirror for the ladies?!) Ursula is an amazing host, making us feel very comfortable. The home made goodies she left outside our door were a real treat!
If you have trouble with stairs, this may not be the place for you, but it is well worth it when you get to the top! The ocean views are wonderful. We could not have enjoyed our stay more, and hope to return some day!
My husband & I stayed here for our 29th anniversary. We loved the garden with so many butterflies & birds. The cottage has many windows so we really enjoyed the cool breeze & open air of this place. The cottage was decorated so very cute!! We loved sitting in the garden daily. We like to exercise, so we rode our bikes into town daily by going up small residential streets. This was a great workout as there are many hills in Laguna. Laguna is one of the most beautiful beaches around. We walked & rode bikes everywhere. We really loved everything about the place & Ursula was a wonderful friendly host. :) We hope to come back again!
Staying at Ulla's house was the best decision we could do...Ulla is the best host ever! It started with a great welcome, relaxed music playing while the butterflys showed us the way to the cottage! It is surrounded by a beautiful garden, from where you can see the Pacific and the sunset! Everything is clean and works properly...we slept very well in the bed and had enough space with a 4 months old baby and a 7 year old boy...
The Cottage is perfectly situated within laguna beach and you are far enough away from the trouble of the main-street...but close enough to the beaches, parks and supermarkets...
Ulla is a great woman always with big heart and smile on her lips!
We enjoyed the time in the cottage a lot and hope, that we soon can come back again...
Thanks for everything...Sabrina, Mirko, Jordan and Marlo
This was our first VRBO experience, and we don’t think it gets much better than this! Everything about our seven day stay was truly wonderful. We already are planning another visit!
Ursula and her family are terrific hosts – they guided us to great restaurants, answered all of our questions, and were just plain fun to chat with during our week at their cottage. Ursula even left us treats (croissants) a couple of mornings!
This property is absolutely beautiful! The cottage itself is adorable, with true “cottage chic” furnishings and linens, and a very comfy bed! The kitchen was stocked with some basic snacks, great coffee, and a selection of teas, and the frig contained some water, milk, and condiments. If you want to cook here, you’ll find the dishes, pots, pans and utensils you need.
The hillside garden is a work of art – true Laguna Beach! There is a table with four chairs right outside the cottage door, but the best place to sit is about halfway up the hill: two blue Adirondack chairs under a tree offer a spectacular ocean view. We usually had our morning coffee, afternoon snacks, and evening glass of wine in those chairs. We watched hummingbirds, read, meditated, and watched the sunset there most nights. Oh yes, we explored Laguna Beach, shopped, ate out, and wandered up and down the coast. But this property, and the garden, really made this an incredibly relaxing – and magical – week. One of the best vacations ever!
I've never stayed at a cottage before so this is my first review. I absolutely loved the place but i there are two things that future renters should take note of:
First is this cottage is not for the physically handicapped. There are three flights of steps which I didn't mind. The second is that the stairs you walk up is the same steps for the owners of the home.
The owners house is up front and you walk around to the cottage, so this place isn't for those who party loud.It is further back from the house so you do have privacy.
Ursula was very accommodating with our needs and asked us if we needed any toiletries. I don't think she does this often but we were treated with fresh made crescents on two separate occasions. That was very sweet of her.
The beach is literally 1/2 a mile walk from the beach. Go down hill and you are there, it was great. We walked around to the local shops and then walked back.
There was one WiFi signal and i didn't ask if it was theirs. If it wasn't then I wish they had one. If it was theirs then I wished i had asked for the password.
The next time we are in California, I am definitely be calling back to stay.
Lots of wonderful beaches and parks; great hiking trails. Ferry to Catalina Island - a great ocean experience; Dolphin and Whale watching; Newport Harbor and Back Bay perfect for kayaking.
Mission San Juan Capistrano, a wonderful historical site; Ocean Institute and Marine Mammal center -
great for children.
