About Janet

We purchased Abigail House over fifteen years ago as a vacation home for our family. We were captivated by the convenient location and old-world charm of this lovely cottage and have carefully updated it to preserve that cozy, welcoming feel.

As our children grew up, we spent many wonderful summers relaxing in the beautiful gardens, hosting family gatherings and celebrations and delighting in all that Niagara has to offer. Now, we feel the time has come to open our vacation home to guests, so that other families and visitors can enjoy the same wonderful experiences and happy memories that our family has cherished over the years.

A Slice of Heaven!

We couldn't have asked for more from our visit to Niagra on the Lake. The immaculately kept house was equipped with everything we needed and had plenty of room for the whole family. It is perfectly situated: just a block from the picturesque downtown - but with all of the privacy and quaintness one could want. Perfect for a family that may have varied interests...some may fancy an early morning walk through the neighborhoods.....others may prefer to make a b-line for the nearest coffee shop or get in a quick nine on the golf course. Either way, everyone is satisfied. The theater can't be beat and the scenery is amazing. We would highly recommend staying here. You won't be disappointed!

Our Stay

The house was terrific - spotless and ready for our stay the moment we walked in. Lots of little amenities that you see in hotels but don't really expect when you rent a house. The coffee was great! The beds were great with huge pillows and soft comforters - it made the sleep terrific! Our hole family had a great time. Super location - close to the main strip so we just walked to the shops and restaurants.

Absolutely perfect! We will come again and again!

Abigail House is absolutely perfect for a family get away or a gathering of friends. I love properties that have a nostalgic feeling while still being up to date with their amenities. Abigail House has both charm and functionality. The decor is fresh, cheerful and uncluttered. The house is impeccably kept, and the provisions for the kitchen and bedrooms are ample.
Abigail House is within walking distance to shops, restaurants and the theater. I sat on the front porch and watched horse drawn carriages pass by. It was certainly a respite from a busy life, and a welcomed reminder of a simpler way of life.
The backyard garden is so inviting. We could either walk to a restaurant in town, cook in the cottages kitchen or grill out back and eat on the patio. Although the house is close to town it has plenty of privacy for those seeking quiet. It is a "best of both worlds" feeling for certain.
The proximity to biking, Forte George and Niagara Falls are all a plus for this property. Niagara Falls is less than 30 minutes away, and NOTL is certainly one of the loveliest towns we have ever visited. I would highly recommend this well cared for cottage to all.

Too much fun and comfort

We had spent the previous weekend in Napa so how could this compare. From the moment we stepped into Abagail House we knew we were in for a treat. The warmth of the house, a block from the theater and downtown area allowed us to park the cars for the entire weekend. Morning beakfast in the gardens followed by a bike ride to the vineyards--- spectacular!!

We will be repeat visitors.

peace and quiet, with charm

We loved our stay at Abigail House. This well-located, pretty cottage provided a safe, comfortable hideaway---complete with lush summer gardens and patio--for our family of four. The decor and furnishings are good quality, updated, comfy, cheerful and unpretentious. The home was well-maintained and very clean. The appliances were in good working order, and the owner has put a lot of thought into ensuring that everything is available to guests to make meals low-maintenance and the overall cottage stay hassle-free.

Our family of four walked, bicycled, and explored every nook and cranny of Niagara-on-the-Lake. We much appreciated returning to our lovely cottage and the quiet neighborhood at the end of each day--or even for lunch or a break as needed. Abigail House is an ideal location for coming and going during the day, especially if you have kids, or want an occasional break or rest.

A few-minutes walk put us right in the heart of the village. I particularly enjoyed all the flowers, shops and cafes. (When I return to N-O-L again, I will stock up on more of the famous Greaves marmalade!) There were a wide variety of restaurants and eateries available--and family friendly. We spent a lot of time exploring the nearby parks. A favorite day was spent at historic Fort George, hearing stories of the rigors of fort life for the British soldiers (War of 1812), checking out the barracks, buildings, and watching a musket demonstration, which our boys loved!

One reason we had come to Niagara-On-the-Lake was to experience Niagara Falls, which is less than a half hour's drive away. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone hoping to see Niagara Falls to stay in NOL rather than in Niagara Falls. While N-O-L is one of the prettiest towns in Canada, Niagara Falls is the opposite. We were never so relieved to leave the dense crowds, noise, and casino-atmosphere of Niagara Falls and to return at the end of the day to peaceful Niagara On the Lake, and our cottage. To fully experience the power of the Niagara River and class 5 rapids, we took our boys (ages 11, 9) on the jet boats, which leave directly out of N-O-L. This was a great time and, although it's a little on the pricey side, we highly recommend this fun ride for adventurous kids.

Our time in Niagara on the Lake was a favorite vacation of our family--and Abigail Cottage provided the ideal spot from which our family could get the most out of this gorgeous spot, while being able to relax.
