Walk to Metro, Restaurants, Coffee Shops - Close to the Mall

I was happy to have found this place on VRBO when I was searching for a place to stay for 2 months. I needed a place that was close to Washington Hospital Center and this place was about 1.5 miles away. The only problem was it was too far to walk there especially in the middle of winter and since I had to be at the hospital early it wasn't an option. It was also too close to take the metro so I had to rely on taxi's. I did find a service called Uber and they were very reliable. Getting back to the apartment now. When I moved into the apartment it was very clean and ready for my arrival. There was one inconvenience and that was there was no heat in the apartment. I didn't realize this when I had booked it and I was kind of surprised that nothing was mentioned to me before I made my plans to stay there. I was able to get a space heater and a heating blanket and it worked. The good thing was they had plans to put a furnace in while I was there and that was done while I was at work. I did have to move into another apartment for a few days. Once that was done everything was smooth going. Carlos and Elizabeth are very easy to work with and were very understanding and accommodating.
The neighborhood has a lot of places to eat and is nearby the metro so it is a good location. There are some good restaurants in the neighborhood too.
So as far as living in Columbia Heights for a few months and staying here it was a good experience and I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in the area.

We could not have imagined better accommodations! The location in Columbia Heights is amazing! Everything we needed was within a 3 block range: the grocery store, Target, Best Buy, restaurants and the metro. The condo was clean and larger than we expected. The bay window, facing the street was such a treat. We were able to watch storms in the distance, but never heard the traffic below, aside from a siren or two. Even with the windows open! The large walk in closet served as a perfect dressing room, with a dresser, shelves and plenty of room for suitcase and sundry storage. After a long day of sight-seeing, the bed was a welcome escape, with plenty of pillows. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything you would need to make breakfast, lunch or dinner. Elizabeth was very prompt in returning email questions and Carlos had the condo ready when we arrived. The gated off-street parking was wonderful. After we parked the car, we never got back in it until we left! And we knew that it was safe. While we weren't able to meet Elizabeth, Jarek or Carlos personally, we felt comfortable and at home. There is so much to see that we weren't able to make it to all of the attractions that we wanted to see. But, we'll visit again! One of the highlights of our visit was finding an Open Mic at Madame's Organ, in Adams Morgan. The food was tremendous, the bar was kitschy and fun, and the open mic host & bartender were open and friendly. The condo was more than we had hoped for, better than a hotel, and perfect for the two of us. Thanks again for making our vacation feel like a home away from home.

We really enjoyed our 6 nights here. Everything was as advertised in the description and other reviews. The train ride to the heart of DC was quick and easy, and it was nice to have multiple dinner options right by the train station, only blocks away from the condo. One thing others haven't mentioned is the Capital Bikeshare station at the Giant grocery store. The bikeshare can be a great tool for getting around the city. Next time, we intend to rent bikes and ride around the actual neighborhood, not just downtown DC.

The condo itself is very nice and functional. As others noted, it is on a busy street (close to a fire station), so if you are a light sleeper, bring or pick up some earplugs. Personally, we left the windows open and enjoyed the sounds of the city. It was nice having the kitchen, and it was great having access to a washer and dryer, with detergents and softener sheets.

We loved it and can't wait to go back! We recommended it to people we met in DC that may need it for visiting family & friends, and we will certainly recommend it to people we know.
