With great access to the freeway, we were able to travel to the beach, tourist attractions, shopping malls, restaurants, and Mexico in under 15 minutes. Longer drives to adventure meant we could hit the mountains; snow while there, Los Angeles, Nevada's entertainments and still drive back to the condo that night. We visited the sandy coast, wooded foothills, snowy mountains and the warm desert without driving our travel time away. There are so many possibilities, one is hard pressed to see and enjoy all that is around with in the span of one month.
We enjoyed widest variety of foods and restaurants that I have found in such a short distance. You can dine your way through the cuisine of a different country each night and not repeat yourself for weeks on end. I'm fond of some of the Tai and curry places but you can't miss Phil’s BBQ!
The condo overlooks the Formosa Slough with egrets, cranes and ducks, to the delight of my wife, the birder.
Spring break cycled a variety of weeklong residents that we met in the courtyard for volleyball, grilling and occasionally at the pool, it is warmer than Ohio, but still cool for a March swim. I found it very enjoyable chatting with people from all over the country, and a few who were visiting from outside of the country.
The onsite laundry is great for doing mundane chores while playing in the courtyard during the wash cycles. The pop machine usually supplies quarters if you are shy, but it is better to hit up a bank for a roll or two before hand.
I would and have recommended a stay here to friends. If another opportunity to travel to San Diego for a month is found, I will be looking at the calendar to see if the condo on Rue D’Orleans is available once again.
