Photos and Description of the Culebra vacation house rental
3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, sleeps 6 (8 with kids)

Casa Chalet is a real house, not an apartment. Many rentals do not like to show you pictures of their house or true location, there is a reason for that. All of our pictures are from our property with the exception of one from flamenco beach with my kids. Our House has three Bedrooms, two on the second floor and one bedroom on the first. The master Bedroom has its own little balcony. In addition we have a kitchen with all modern appliances, living and dining rooms, two full bathrooms and a laundry room with washer and dryer. There are two queen beds, two full size futons and a roll away cot.

We have Satellite TV (dish network), Full wireless Internet, a game cube system/w games an entertainment system and air conditioning in the bedrooms. There is a shaded deck with water views in the back and a tropical patio in the front. Our property is private yet in walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

About Culebra: The Island of Culebra lies approximately seventeen miles east of Puerto Rico, twelve miles west of St. Thomas, and nine miles north of Vieques. The island consists of many large hills and due to its long and intricate shoreline, Culebra represents a series of bays, peninsulas, and bars, some of which end in abrupt cliffs, sandy shores, or mangrove forests. The principal harbor is Ensenada Honda, which is considered one of the most secure hurricane harbors in the Caribbean. There is a local population of about 1800 people. Most of the residents live in and around the town of Dewey. The rest of the island is mostly unpopulated except for a few enclaves.

This was my 4th visit to Culebra, so I know the island fairly well. I will start off by saying that one of my main goals when booking past this trip was to keep it affordable, while being able to accommodate so many people and still be nice. Casa Chalet was exactly what we were looking for. The house was perfect for families with children and the wildlife just hanging in the trees was awesome. We saw one of the largest iguana's just hanging out as we sat on the back deck having drinks looking at the harbor view...which was unbeatable. All people in my party loved it too, and we have already blocked off our time for next year. It was clean, close to everything and since one of our party was under two, during his nap time sitting on the deck provided me with a sense of being in the tropics, not being stuck waiting for nap time to end. It's a great place, owner friendly and fair too. PS - for anyone interested, I have traveled many, many places all over the world.....(minus Asia)...Culebra is one of the most unbelievable places to visit!!

Culebra is a magical island that has so much going for it. What we learned this trip is that different accommodations fit different people. Casa Chalet was not our cup of tea. It was fairly rustic and in a more natural state then we are use to. The property is very private with big trees but the general upkeep was lacking to our standards. Although we realize that a lot of people who go to places like Culebra are looking exactly for that we were not.

myf wife and i stayed here in dec 2010
we found the whole process of renting from the owner easy; Don was very accomodating.
the house was clean and suited our family's needs.
the island itself is wonderful with great restaurants, even better beaches
In the buildup to christmas 2010 the locals had many horse parades with lights on the horses!
a nice house plenty of room and privacy yet close to everything we thought it was perfect
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
