Clayton House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

This beautiful four bedroom and two bath home is conveniently located in the charming village of Clayton in the picturesque Thousand Islands region. This home was completely renovated with much love by the owner, as it was his family home. No detail was overlooked, from the bronze light fixtures and door handles to the custom iron stairway railing. The home is tastefully decorated with local historic photos and artwork. Local history books along with a variety of paperbacks and games are available for your enjoyment. Upscale features include central air, a Jacuzzi bath, custom hickory cabinets, kitchen island, Corian countertops, wood laminate flooring throughout the downstairs, Berber carpet upstairs, washer/dryer, flat screen TV with cable service, plus wireless Internet.

The charming village of Clayton: Clayton’s tradition of charm and hospitality began more than a century ago when the 1000 Islands Region was the playground of the nations most powerful. Now that tradition is embraced by a new generation of visitors…a tradition we invite you to experience firsthand.

Clayton is the quintessential river village, a jewel of a peninsula surrounded by the magnificent St. Lawrence River, nestled along the northern edge of upstate New York and minutes from the Canadian border. Come and soak up the small town atmosphere. You’ll find quaint shops and galleries, nationally known museums, and outdoor activities ranging from fishing to golfing, diving, kayaking to hiking that all within walking distance. For those who like life in the fast lane there is a one mile go kart track nearby.

Be sure to stop for a bite to eat at one of Clayton’s many restaurants. Watch the boats go by from the deck of one of our river front eateries. Unwind with a leisurely gourmet dinner; or grab a quiet bite to eat at a cafe or pizzeria. Have a sandwich wrapped to go and picnic at one of our beautiful parks. Don’t forget to stop for ice cream!

We invite you to join us for a fun-filled family vacation, a romantic getaway, or an international adventure. We promise an experience you’ll always remember, in a glorious setting you’ll never forget!

Pleasent long weekend in Clayton

  • 5 of 5

Communication with the property managers was excellent. Very easy people to deal with. The house was spotless and in perfect repair. The pictures do not do it justice as it is very roomy and well laid out. Location to restaurants and shopping is fantastic, easy walking distance. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Our rental agent Jennifer was very pleasent throughout the process. Thanks for a nice stay.

Great House, Great Location

  • 4 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay for a week. It is accurately described as a beautifully renovated home. The house was spotless and well-maintained. It's in a great location, an easy walk to downtown Clayton, shops, restaurants, and the River. It has a lovely deck (with a bit of a view of the main channel of the River) with propane grill, and a nice kitchen. A few more comfortable outdoor chairs would be a welcome addition to the deck.

When we arrived, neither the cable TV or the internet access worked. Phone calls to the rental office produced the desired results: TV was restored by the next day, and the internet service a day or so later. It was a minor annoyance, but handled well.

For the weekend when we first arrived, we were 4 couples in town for a wedding, so all bedrooms were in use. On the second floor, that meant 6 people using one bathroom. Though there is plenty of unused wall space in the bathroom, there is only one towel rack, barely big enough for 2 towels, meaning everyone had to take their wet bath towels to their rooms, and there were no places to hang them in the rooms. We suggest more towel racks in the bathroom or else in the bedrooms. The other amenity that we missed was light to read by in the bedrooms (The living room could use some brighter light by the couches as well.) A high ceiling fixture in the middle of the room does not provide sufficient light for reading in bed, something my husband and I enjoy every night. We went out and purchased two flashlights to read by! The addition of towel bars in the upstairs bath and lights at either side of the beds, either wall-mounted or on a small night table (which would be a handy addition as well) would unquestionably make my rating 5-star.

We found Clayton to be a charming town. We were there for a wedding on Grindstone Island, and that occupied our weekend, but Clayton is full of wonderful things that we enjoyed in the following days. Most special were the Antique Boat Museum and the Island Boat Tour around the River, stopping at Boldt Castle. Restaurants we enjoyed were Bella, the newly opened Johnston House, and The Koffee Kove for breakfast a number of times.

Owner's Response: First, we would like to tell you how much we appreciate the time and thought that obviously went into this review of our property. We are always looking for ways to improve. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and do apologize for any inconveniences you experienced while staying with us. Your suggestions related to towel racks, additional lighting, and deck furniture are all easy fixes that we will be taking care of. We would like to thank you, again, for your time and business and hope that you will choose to stay with us in the future.

Great stay.

Where do you live?

Very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The house and the location is excellent. The only possible improvements that could be done is for the property to provide towels and hair dryer.

Wonderful Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend in this house. We ended up hosting our cousins rehearsal dinner at the house. The backyard is huge. The kids were able to run around and have fun while everyone else just enjoyed a casual dinner and conversation catching up with family. Everyone that visited commented on how beautiful the home was, and were jealous of us that they had to go back to their hotels in Watertown. This was a great location for us because we had a wedding at Boldt Castle, and a reception in Watertown. It was like a big triangle staying here and was easy getting to everything. The house was so clean and fresh. My kids enjoyed getting their own rooms, and the views from some of the upstairs bedrooms were breathtaking. It is a very lovely home, and you won't regret having booked a stay here.

Highly Recommended Rental

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do the house justice. Immaculate inside and very welcoming decor. Bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. Kitchen and dining room are great for a large group.

Great customer service and communication from the owners.

1000 Islands area is beautiful and a wonderful place to visit.

Highly recommend to those that are looking for a great rental to have lots of room. Rates are very reasonable. We could not have asked for better accomodations. The house is a definite win when weighing the options of renting this house versus a hotel.
