Enjoy true rustic luxury and experience the history of our country by staying in a house built a few years after the American revolution. It’s the perfect place to gather friends and family because this spacious home never feels crowded.

The Oak Hill House is furnished in the Catskills Country Style with a comfortable and eclectic mix of antique and modern pieces. It has four bedrooms plus a sleeping loft, two full bathrooms, a bar complete with mystery library, a large kitchen and formal dining room, which features an antique harvest table that comfortably seats ten.

Though this house will take you on an exciting journey to the past, it features modern enjoyments such as a FiveStar pro range, large DVD library, audiophile sound system, cable WiFi, Lazy Man grill on the stone patio, and a Brazilian slate spa shower, and ladies' bath complete with restored antique claw foot tub.

Prime Catskill Location: The Oak Hill House sits at the intersection of the Catskill and Mill Creeks in the historic hamlet of Oak Hill, which is only 2.5 hours from New York City. This section of Greene County is the most beautiful in the Catskills with rolling green hills and numerous streams.

Oak Hill is only 25 minutes from Hudson, NY, where you can have a world class dining and shopping experience.

Of course, the great beauty of the Catskills is at your doorstep: breathtaking views, hiking, boating, trout fishing, or skiing at Wyndam Mountain only 30 minutes away.

This house has a southern exposure so you can watch the sun travel over the Catskill Mountains followed by the moon. Gather on the patio or descend the stairs to sit creekside and enjoy a fire while you sit under the stars.

Romantic, fun, charming, relaxing - just perfect

  • 5 of 5
Since we are Dutch - as from across the ocean from the Netherlands - we loved the fact that we could actually rent a 'Dutch Colonial on Catskill Creek' in the Fall in New York State. And we are glad we did.
The pictures describe perfectly what we found, a luxurious, well equipped, and tremendously tastefully decorated old house on Catskill Creek.
The house was a blast for our two oldest sons, just running around, playing hide and seek. And even for the grown ups, there were rooms to relax in: the tv-room, 'smoke'-room with beautiful art, living room with a gas powered fire place and - we loved - the kitchen.
Also the surroundings were perfect. Plenty of rainfall in the summer resulted more in Catskill River instead of Catskill Creek. But that did not matter at all: it was more fun for the kids: Throwing branches and leaves in the creek and follow where they went (no clue...). The kids also had fun playing soccer in the big backyard and helping us with making a fire in the afternoon on the patio.
And still, this really could also be a very romantic spot, just for two.
The owner, Eric, was easy to deal with and very very helpful with providing information about the house, the region, recommendations on restaurants, groceries, museums. All good tips.
We would recommend this to anyone, Dutch or not, couples, families, anyone. Enjoy!

My father's 75th birthday

My father's 75th birthday
  • 5 of 5
My family is spread all over the world. For my father's 75th birthday we agreed that we would meet in New York, and give him a surprise birthday party in the country side. My dad loves the country and enjoys hiking, swimming and anything involving fresh air. We chose the Oakhill House because of its endless charm, the beauty of the nearby creek and the comfortable accommodations it offered for my elder parents. The nearby Oakhill Kitchen restaurant was a wonderful breakfast delight, and the natural whirlpool that forms down the creek still brings us unforgettable memories of my family having a good time swimming and laughing. We cut my dad's birthday cake by the river, where our colorful hammock hung. At night when we returned, the welcoming warmth of the Oakhill house awaited us. We cooked a nice dinner while my father read comfortably sitting under one of the many antique lamps. When the time came to sit down and have dinner at the long beautiful dinner table, my brother came out of the basement, where he had been inflating 20+ colorful balloons while we made dinner. We all screamed FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS PAPA!

This house will forever keep one of the most beautiful memories I have of my family. We left the hammock as a gift. Hope you have a chance to visit the Oakhill House. It is a place for peace and relaxation, only a couple of hours away from New York.
