Alpine Getaway takes you back in history. This beautifully constructed 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath cabin built in 1928 is in the heart of Big Bear Lake right next to the village. It blends history with modern conveniences - hardwood floors, Pool Table, HDTVs, wood-burning fireplace, foosball table, cable, California King mattress with 3 additional bedrooms and den, Wireless Internet and walking distance to the village and Lake!

DOGS are Welcome, however there is a $25/day/pet fee. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring your pets.

Presenting a large Maltby fireplace against original hardwood floors, antique wainscotings in the dining room and quaint bedrooms, this cabin still maintains many of its original features. Looking out the French paneled windows, you can see children sledding down the Alpine slide, evergreens standing tall against the mountains, and pine trees growing on the property. With all the beautiful 360 degree views, you would never know that within just a few minutes of walking, you can reach the lake and the heart of the village. You're also just a short 5 minute drive from the Snow Summit and Bear Mountain resorts.

The cabin is beautifully decorated with large rich leather sofas, down comforters for those wintry nights, and a round wood dining table for dinner gatherings. The French doors in the living room open up onto a redwood porch and outside the dining room is a patio which will lead you around to the deck featuring the steamy spa. Here you can enjoy more views of the surrounding mountains and trees.

When you arrive at Alpine Getaway, there will be parking for 4-5 cars. With this one-story cabin, there is no need to climb stairs to get to your room. The master bedroom features a california king-sized log bed with a pillow top mattress, two of the bedrooms have queen beds, and one bedroom has a full sleeper sofa. There is an extra living area off the master bedroom with a full & twin bunkbed for any extra guests. Have fun with the foosball table and the pool table. The kitchen provides everything you need from a new refrigerator and dishes to pots, pans and cutlery.

My fiance and I bought this home as our first investment and part-time second home. We love coming up to Big Bear, jet-skiing, snowboarding, and spending time with friends. We truly care about your experience at our cabin and want you to have the best weekend possible!

Why KIM chose Private Homes

This was close to where we live in Los Angeles. It's a great getaway from the smog, with the fresh air, and it's a 4-seasons vacation home where we can ski on the mountains in winter, and on the Lake in the summer. It brings my fiance back to his Minnesotan roots, and me to a simpler way of life.

What makes this cabin unique

We try to walk everywhere because it's just so nice to be outside. Our favorite place is the Mountain Brewery just around the corner, and the Village has great restaurants as well.

A Must Visit!

It was our first time renting a vacation home, as we stayed in friend's homes in previous years. At first glance on the internet, there were so many places to choose from; but when we happened upon this listing, we immediately knew we found our vacation home.

It was everything we were looking for - high-speed WiFi, bedrooms to sleep everyone separately (not 3 bunkbeds in 1 room like some cabins), and a spacious, log cabin home with a cozy feel. The location is also perfect - close proximity to the Village, the local Wine Tasting room, around the corner from Big Bear's Mountain Brewery and across the street from The Alpine Slide! It was easy to get excited about what lay ahead. Well, we sure weren't disappointed either. You will fall in love with the mountains, the natural singing birds, the quaint town, and coming 'home' to The Alpine Getaway. The host, Kim, is also more than happy to give you suggestions for where to get the best coffee or steak in town, or other fun activities in the Big bear area.

Enjoy your stay! We sure did!

Great for the price, location and bedrooms

Just got back from a weekend at the 1920's cabin with a group of buddies. The location was very close to Big Bear Village, Mountain Brewery, a wine bar, the Alpine Slide, bowling and the marina. There were a ton of amenities and lots of charm. There was plenty of pots, pans, cookie sheets and utensils and plenty of room to sleep as well. We had 8 for the trip and still had extra sleeping spaces. The exterior siding and landscaping could use some maintenance, but that didn't really bother us. It also looks like the owner had mentioned that she is in the process of making improvements, so this might already be taken care of. Overall it was a great place and given the price, we'd definitely book it again.

Beautiful, rustic cabin close to all the action but privately situated just off the main roads

I could not be happier with my experience here. The cabin is privately located off the main road in Big Bear, just up the way from the lake and a short drive to the lifts. Each new door opens up to a new section of the house complete with beds, couches, TV's rustic furnishings, and beautiful wood floors. Kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, silverware, plates, bowls, pans, and supplies. Bathrooms are spacious enough for larger groups and include towels. Plumbing is perfect with hot, warm, and cold water, which is sometimes hard to find with private cabins in Big Bear.

All in all, I will be using this cabin again during my new stay in November. Could not be happier with the overall experience, amenities, and value.

Great Location and Amenities for the Price!

This cabin was close to everything. I went with a group of 8 friends and we were able to walk across the street to the Alpine Slide, go Bowling, walk to the Lake and to Copper Q, the coffee shop in the Village. I think we only needed to use our car once when we were there. The location couldn't be beat.

The cabin itself we very charming. It had room for about 10 people to sleep, and more if you were willing to take a couch. There were many cabin touches such as hardwood floors and leather couches that made it feel very "wood-sy". The one thing I would recommend is that the owner add a 3rd full bathroom. There were 2 bathrooms only one with a shower, so sometimes you'd have to wait for a friend to come out. Not a huge deal since we were only there for 2 nights and were out most of the day anyway, but I could see how it would be frustrating for groups staying long-term.

Overall, a good stay especially if you're on a budget. It was conveniently located, had bedrooms for everyone, wireless internet, and flat screens in 3 rooms (TVs in every bedroom).

Old world charm at an AMAZING price

Considering the price, I was expecting it not to be up to my standards, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a charming cabin with plenty of room for everyone. We had four couples and each had their own room (even our dog Buster had his own room!). Everything went smoothly while we were there, there were some great original touches to the house, the hot tub was great, and the proximity to the village, the lake and the slopes really can't be beat. No better deal in Big Bear.
