Kona breezes create an ideal climate. Almost every day the clouds race the sun to the west, so there's some sun but not too much. Cool air comes off the mountains at night and a clear morning sometimes gives a view of Hualalai Volcano. Our apartment has louvered windows on the east side and sliding doors with screens on both levels on the west side, so the breezes can be adjusted just right. We are a quarter mile from the shore and enjoy not having the salt spray, but moderate to high surf can be seen and heard.
We rented for 5 years before buying here. There are 45 apartments in duplexes to four plexes and award winning landscaped 5 acres, so the feeling is uncrowded. Parking right next to the front door and a short flight up to the living room or a short flight down to the bedroom are very convenient features not often found. Our bedroom features an atrium with live plants and an automatic irrigation controller. We invite guests to share their gardening skills.
Our apartment is gecko friendly inside and out. They are in charge of pest control. The carpet cleaners are the Zebra doves and Java sparrows. Simply leave the screen doors open and they will often come right in.

A quarter mile walk to Keauhou Bay has a canoe club, a volleyball court, departures on snorkeling and fishing boats, and a small beach with picnic area.
A quarter mile in the other direction has a nice shopping center with 4 restaurants, KTA grocery, Longs pharmacy, post office, bookstore, a few small shops, movies, and a Saturday farmer's market.
