Appalachian Trail access in several nearby places. From the property, you can reach the trail at Garenflo Gap. Turn left at the end of the driveway onto Highway 209. In about ¾ of a mile turn right at the hairpin turn called Bluff. Follow the road to the end (when the road forks, take the right fork). It ends at a gate across a forest service road. The trail is to the right and is marked by a single blaze. If you ascend, the trail leads to Hot Springs; about a 6.5 mile, 3-hour hike of moderate difficulty. If you descend, you will be heading to Lemon Gap. From there the trail takes you to Max Patch.
An absolute must do. This bald mountain gives a fabulous 360 degree view that goes for miles.
