Thanks Debbie for a wonderful stay at Casa Colinas. The house was perfect for our family of five, including three teens who enjoyed the view as much as we did. We found everything we needed and the privacy was a treat after long days in town. We hope to visit LA again and will certainly make Casa Colinas our first priority for hospitality! Thanks for everything.

SPECTACULAR VIEW!!!!!

  • 5 of 5
Wow! Actually felt like a kid at Christmas when we walked through the gate! The view was breathtaking! We loved every minute of our stay at Casa Colinas. I was concerned that my boys ages 19, 21, and 26 would not enjoy the stay because of the homes age, etc., but, Casa Colinas was their favorite throughout the entire trip (making them complain about having to stay at Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort and Hilton Bayside San Diego) Bottom line...if we travel anywhere near Casa Colinas in the future and it's available, we will be staying there!! Loved it!!! Communication with Debbie was easy and timely. The property exceeds the description.

STUNNING! PICTURESQUE! HEAVEN! BREATHTAKING!

  • 5 of 5
First, let me start by saying how amazing the homeowner Debbie is! I found this listing last minute after our other plans fell through. Debbie was quick to respond and within no time we were booked to stay at her home. The pictures definitely do not do it justice. Not only did I feel like a movie star in her home, but our friends that accompanied us, were in awe of how gorgeous everything was inside and out. As you drive in, you see this beautiful wooden door that leads you to the stairs that take you to the main house. You are surrounded by the refreshing scent of Eucalyptus trees. The first night we arrived, we put our bags in the house and then came outside and just sat out on the terrace and marveled at the view of the city. Morning or night it really is quite a view!! Her house is beautifully decorated & very clean, there were plenty of towels & linens available. The kitchen was surrounded by windows that allowed for natural lighting & every window had a view of either the city, the trees or the patio. It was well stocked with all of the essentials. Plenty of eating areas & the living room has breath taking views of the city. She has a vast collection of DVD's but with that view we rarely watched TV. Both bedrooms were comfortable & amply spaced and had walk in closets with hangers, extra bedding and even umbrellas. The house has 1 full bathroom and 1 half bathroom but even with 5 people, we made it work! They are both gorgeously decorated and I fell in love with the main bathroom window that looks out into the patio and the Hollywood hills but is surrounded by trees for privacy. The laundry room is just outside of the house in a room beneath the main bedroom. The washer and dryer worked beautifully & I often found myself just stopping to look out at the view on my way to finish the laundry! My sister joined us later during our trip & Debbie was very accommodating. She slept on the couch which she liked very much even though it had a pull out bed. You can literally see Universal Studios from the house & Vice versa!! I loved how close we were to the Universal City Walk and park. We spent many nights out on the terrace dining al fresco and playing card games. The house is minutes away from many great local hotspots and not far from Santa Monica, downtown LA, the observatory and many great places. Even so you feel as if you are far away from the city. Enough cannot be said about this gorgeous home. We can't until our next vacation at Casa Colinas!!

HOME SWEET HOME! PEACEFUL WITH SPARKLING LIGHTS

  • 5 of 5
My husband & I took a 4 day trip to LA (our first time in California!) Everything was perfect, from first communicating with Debbie, emailing, paperwork, arriving & departing. It was even better than the photos show. We arrived at the house right at sunset and were mesmerized by the sparkling lights below! I was surprised at how peaceful & secluded this house was after seeing all the houses squeezed into the every possible space on the hills. (The drive up & down the hills is an adventure! Lots of unique houses to see). The house is surrounded by bamboo & trees and you feel like you're all alone. It truly felt like home, I looked forward to returning to the house each evening. We bought groceries & made all of our breakfasts & dinners at the house- it was so nice to eat out on the balcony! The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils, spices & pots/pans we needed. There is a lot of walking up & down stairs, but that was no problem for us. All the different levels actually made it seem more magical, like you're entering a new world. The beds are very comfortable, we slept like babies. The air conditioner is cold. The kitchen (highest level in the house) stayed pretty warm, but I think the heat wave had something to do with that (when we were staying there, temperatures were in the high 90s-100s). I loved the colorful tile on the stairs & in the bathrooms.

Activites during our trip: Santa Monica for lunch at Pono Burger, walk to Santa Monica Pier/Beach. Ice cream at Kippy's in Venice, Warner Brothers studio tour (very interesting!), Griffith Observatory (we saw an actor from Malcolm in the Middle, our only celeb sighting) Malibu- lunch at Paradise Cove. The drive to Malibu on PCH is great! El Matador beach which was breathtaking- huge cave like rock formations. We went to Rodeo Drive one day (window shopping only!) it was nearly impossible to find a place to park. Patio lunch at Momed (Mediterranean) in Beverly Hills. We drove down Hollywood Blvd and saw the Chinese Theater/Walk of Fame and what looked like lots of good souvenir shops.

Debbie was always prompt in answering any questions I had via email while we were there. I would love to go back. My husband & I felt like we were celebrities! Thank you so much for opening your home to us.

WONDERFUL LOCATION WITH AMAZING VIEWS

  • 5 of 5
My twenty three year old daughter and I rented this property for our annual mother/daughter trip for three nights. Debbie was very helpful and quickly responded to my questions. The paperwork was easy and she sent detailed instructions regarding the home and surrounding area. The house is located on top of a hill so I would definitely recommend renting a car if you want to tour the city. The house itself is simply charming. It has so much character and the views from the terrace are AMAZING!!! It was so relaxing to sit outside and enjoy the view after a long day of sightseeing! The location was great for us as we visited Universal and Warner Bros Studio and it seemed like it only took us a very short time to get there.
But again, I just want to mention the views!! THEY ARE AWESOME!!

Thank you, Debbie, for allowing us the use of your wonderful home! We would definitely like to come back again.

GREAT PLACE - THE LISTING IS ACCURATE

  • 5 of 5
The house was exactly what we expected from the listing. It is a great place to come back to after a day of 'doing' LA. It is up in the hills from Hollywood. It looks north out over the 'valley' - Burbank, Studio City, etc,, not south over Hollywood and downtown LA. The view is spectacular and the terrace is a great place to hang out - very sunny during the day, then cool in the evening with a view of the lights across the valley. My wife loved watching the hummingbirds that were ever-present around the terrace, plus seeing the occasional hawk float by. The view from the terrace is incredible as everyone else here has said.

The house is older with lots of nice period touches. The two bedrooms were more than adequate and the kitchen is well stocked and nicely appointed. We ate on the terrace when we had a meal there, but there is a table in the kitchen and also a dining table that seats 6 easily. The kitchen had all the basic stuff you need - salt, pepper, mustard, olive oil, jam, etc., which was great and more than I expected.

Debbie was easy to work with and very helpful. The property is nicely maintained and landscaped, as you would expect because they live here part of the year. You do need to walk up/down about 30 steps every time you enter or leave the house between the street/driveway and the house, but unless you have real mobility or health problems it won't be an issue.

The house is a 10 minute drive from the center of Hollywood, and we had no problems getting anywhere pretty easily since we had a car. I wouldn't even think of staying here unless you have a car. Runyon Canyon, a very popular hiking spot, is a 2 minute drive away.

We really enjoyed our week here. If we come back to LA we would definitely stay here again, and we will recommend this place to our friends and family. All in all it was a great experience.

ULTIMATE HOLLYWOOD HILLS EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5
This amazing home was just the perfect oasis for our family of 4, including one teen and one tween. We all absolutely loved it! Our kids were WOWED by this house, and even spent a night sleeping on the patio to soak in the nighttime view. The view is astounding - and different - from several vantage points. The home itself is so cozy and comfortable, yet beautiful, unique, stunning and so LA! Spotlessly clean and the gardens and grounds are so inspiring and lovely! We honestly would have been happy staying at the house all day. Even the drive up the hills to get there is gorgeous. Close to everything, the location is perfect. Debbie and Rick are gracious hosts and very responsive, although we had no problems whatsoever. I cannot recommend this home more strongly, except to say we want to keep it as our secret LA hideaway! Thank you so much for a wonderful LA “home away”. I think we will be back!
