About Danielle Foley

I grew up in the northern part of Rhode Island, but spent many fun-filled days at the Narragansett beaches as a child. My husband, Chris, is from the Philly area, where we lived when we were newly married. Much to my delight, he fell in love with Narragansett when my parents, sister and our family decided to rent a house for a week back in 2004. Each year we rented, Chris would drive around looking at houses to buy 'someday.' Fast forward to 2010...we were living in Shanghai, China on an expat assignment for Chris' job, now with two children. We found Green Acres online and instantly knew it was the place for us. We bought it sight unseen (well, my parents checked it out of course). We have so enjoyed the house each summer. After that, we lived in Sydney, Australia for two years and have recently returned to the States. Our children, now 8 and 10, love the neighborhood, spending time at the dock clamming and crabbing, and kayaking in Salt Pond.

Danielle Foley purchased this house in 2010

Why Danielle Foley chose Narragansett

The Sunset Shores neighborhood is small and located off Point Judith Road in a tiny little enclave bordering Salt Pond. It's very quiet because the only reason anyone would drive down into the neighborhood would be because they live there or to visit someone. The houses are well-kept due to the many year-round residents. There isn't a 'rental feel' in the neighborhood, which makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. Going down to the dock to read, clam, catch crabs or take in the view makes for a wonderful after-beach activity, and sometimes takes the place of going to the beach at all for us! It is nice to have that additional entertainment option with the kids!

What makes this house unique

--Salt Pond--great for kayaking, floating on a raft, crabbing, and clamming

--Third floor turret--a nice place to watch the sunset, enjoy the breeze, and read

--Great backyard--Weber grill, shaded area, nice for small get-togethers

--Spacious master bedroom--room to spread out; adjoining office with a door is a great place for a baby to sleep in a pack-and-play

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi, Danielle...

We had a wonderful time this past weekend in RI. The weather was fabulous. Thank you for allowing us to rent your house. We thought your house by the Sea was spectacular and was perfect for our needs. We even barbecued one evening.

Again, it was perfect for our needs for graduation weekend. We did not use the washer/dryer or the kayaks or bikes. The dishes in the dishwasher are clean and trash was placed by curb and picked up Monday morning. Any remaining trash we placed in cans outside.

We embraced the culture of RI visiting Newport, Block Island, and eating at Champlins in Galilee and Turtle Soup at the Rose Tree Inn. We even purchased steaks and burgers from the local farm. I left a little note in the guest book, but wanted to follow up via email.

Thanks again and have a wonderful summer! We would definitely consider renting from you again, should we visit RI in the future.

A haven in little Rhody!

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. It is clean, well maintained and centrally located in the Narragansett area. The owner of the property was very pleasant to deal with and made herself available if we needed her (which we didn't!) We would stay here again.

Great stay for URI Graduation Weekend

The house was very cute and nicely decorated. We had everything we needed! The upstairs turret was the highlight! What a nice view and peaceful space. Danielle, the owner, answered all our questions quickly. We would definitely rent the house again if we come back to Narragansett!

Beautifully maintained, quiet, very comfortable

  • 5 of 5
The pictures accurately reflect this clean and comfortable home just a few doors down from Point Judith Pond access. We had 5 adults and a baby - just enough space for us, and the owner was very accommodating of our last minute schedule. Kayaking on the pond, looking for quahogs and crabs, barbecuing in the backyard, resting on the hammock.. extremely relaxing weekend. 1 Mile to Scarborough Beach, 2 miles to block island ferry, and about 21 miles to Newport. There is a perfect extra room (the study, or as we referred to it, the "tower") where the baby could play. We'd recommend kayaking in the cool mornings, Monahan's Clam Shack for lunch, and picking up fresh lobsters and crabs at the docks near the ferry. Stop and Shop is also up the road if you just want to settle in to steaks on the grill. Narragansett beach is lively, and day trips to Newport is a blast for those new to New England. We chose to stay in Narragansett for the peace and the extra space. It turned out to be a great decision because Newport is a short ride away, and there is plenty to keep us busy in Narragansett. We absolutely intend to come back. Can't wait for next summer!

A real gem

  • 5 of 5
We were a group of six ladies getting together for a special weekend. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the house. The dining room right off the kitchen has a large table and was convenient when cooking and eating meals. We were happy when we saw the assortment of board games in the house and spent hours playing games and talking at the dining room table. The living room had ample furniture and lots of windows keeping it bright. The two downstairs bedrooms were perfect for four of us to share. A bathroom was conveniently located near the bedrooms. The other two ladies slept upstairs in a very large room with second bathroom. Two more people could have easily slept upstairs because of the size of the master bedroom and also because there is a small room adjacent to the bedroom for an air mattress. There is actually a third floor with a small room that has wonderful views.
Late during the evening when we arrived the heater was not working. The owner responded immediately and offered some minor troubleshooting. When that did not work she suggested an emergency service call to the repair company. Since it was so late we asked if the service call can be done in the morning instead. There were several blankets in the house and we were fine. Early the next morning the owner texted us promptly just as promised and told us that her handyman was coming by to take a look. He came by as expected and decided we needed to a service call to the gas company. A service man came out rather quickly. The owner was incredibly responsive and kept in close contact with us.

The next day we held a bridal shower for about 20 guests. It was an ideal home for this special day. Guests were in the dining room, kitchen, and living room which flows nicely to accommodate a group of people. We even had everyone gather in the living room to open gifts and we all fit.

There is an outdoor patio area that we would have loved to use but the weather did not cooperate for us to be outside. There is also a dock about a block away where we were able walk to and sit and enjoy a sunset.

The house had everything we needed. It is quaint with a lot of character. The house is conveniently close to grocery shopping and other stores. There are several restaurants nearby. On our last day we drove a short distance to Newport and did some sightseeing.

If any of us returned to the area we would definitely stay in this property again.

Autumn getaway!

  • 4 of 5
We totally enjoyed our stay at this property. we stayed for a long weekend and its location is very close to all the places we were planning to visit in Rhode Island. Newport, and Providence were very close and we went the perfect time of year. The property is very cozy, and clean. the owner was very easy to deal with, very kind and answered any questions in a very timely manner. The owners gave us a list of nearby seafood marts, restaurants and helpful choices for dinners etc. the lobster and clams we had from Champlins seafood were delicious. Trio restaurant was very good. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful and Naragansett Pier is a must see if you have never been here before. You will love this area, was the perfect place for a girls getaway, and may just have become a Columbus Day tradition for us.
