Rainforest Estate is a new luxury property on over 9 acres of very private tropical lawns, gardens, creeks and natural rainforest near Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland. It offers an exclusive, spectacular and convenient venue for a family or group holiday, a wedding ceremony, reception and / or honeymoon, or a special event or function.

The property contains every conceivable luxury including a two story high indoor waterfall, a western red cedar hot tub set in the gardens and a huge lagoon style heated saltwater pool.

Hidden away in a secluded valley, Rainforest Estate is perfectly located and close to all tourist attractions and activities. The Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and Atherton Tablelands are on our doorstep, as are pristine beaches, championship golf courses, great fishing, resort shopping, international cuisine restaurants and all retail, commercial and support services. A great base to explore the region or simply relax in luxury and privacy.

What's the best time of year to come?: The short answer is anytime. Tropical North Queensland has two very distinct seasons, the 'dry' season (May - Nov) and the 'wet' season (Dec - Apr). This is somewhat misleading however because its not unusual to get 2-4 inches of rain per month during the dry season and only 4-12 inches per month during the wet season.

The dry season (winter) is our busy tourist season and is characterised by warm sunny days (75-85F), cool nights (60-70F) and gentle sea breezes (15-20 knots - great for sailing, kite surfing, hang gliding, etc). Rain is rare.

The wet season (summer) is characterised by higher temperatures and humidity, spectacular summer storms (usually in the evening or overnight) and nature teaming with life. It is not unusal to get 3-4 feet of rain per month (especially Jan-Mar) which means massive mountain waterfalls, tropical vegetation growing in front of your eyes and smaller crowds to deal with (and often better deals).

Both seasons are well worth experiencing.

How long should you stay?: We know its a long way to Australia and to Tropical North Queensland from most parts of the world, and that your vacation time is limited. However you will be very disappointed if you get here and realise you have not allowed enough time to at least 'hit the highlights' of our beautiful region.

We always suggest you need a minimum of 4-6 clear days (excluding arrival and departure days) to see the 'must sees' e.g. the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, the Atherton Tablelands, the willdlife and nearby historic outback towns. Therefore we recommend you plan on spending a minimum of 5-7 nights in Tropical North Queensland.

However, you can spend many weeks in our region and still not see it all, so we never make any maximum recommendations.

Some have come for a few days and stayed a lifetime (like us).

Can we advise you on the best things to see & do?: Yes, that's all part of the serivce.

We can advise and assist (if required) with anything you may need before, during and after your stay. This includes local transport, tours (organised and self-drive), restaurants, shopping, sporting activities, spa and massage treatments, special events (e.g. a wedding or special anniversary or birthday), an in-house chef, baby-sitter or personal guide to mention a few.

We can advise you on where to buy the best meat, fresh organic produce, the best range of wine & spirits and the cheapest gas.

We'll even do your food and beverage shopping for you so everything is ready to go as soon as you arrive (there's a small charge for this service).

We do things like monitor the weather to advise on the best days to go out on the Great Barrier Reef and the best boat to go out on in any weather conditions.

We are not aligned with anyone, we simply advise what we think is best for you according to your requirements. All part of the service

Our wedding at Rainforest Estate

5 of 5
Submitted: October 14, 2011 Stayed: August 2011
There is no word to describe how we loved this stunning property. We got married at Rainforest Estate and stayed there for 3 days, away too short stay but that was definitely enough for us to fall in love with the place.

The house itself is impressive, well appointed and beautifully decorated, very modern, everything is made to make your life easy! The music and lights systems are amazing, you can control everything wherever you are in the house. A few light spots around the house make the rainforest looks magnificent at night which we enjoyed every night from the balcony. You can't escape the stunning views of the wild life, enjoy it even while having a shower. The garden is very well kept with so many different plants and gorgeous tropical flowers, which you will also find a bit everywhere inside the house in vases. And the creek, how great that was! Walk a couple of minutes away from your bedroom and your feet are in the cool running water of this stunning creek! Full enough to swim in it.

We brought lots of things thinking we might need them, no need, the house is fully equipped, everything you need for cooking and barbecue is there.

The service is at the house's level; perfect. The owners, a lovely couple, make things happen your way, they really cared about what we wanted and how, they provide a personalized and very professional customer service. You will enjoy your stay at Rainforest Estate, no doubt, and you will also enjoy feeling welcomed. But unfortunately, like every good thing in life, an end will come and I have to say it is hard to leave this place.

We have decided to come back every year to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, we think the excuse is good enough to spoil ourselves again!

Excellent Queensland Estate

5 of 5
Submitted: September 30, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
We are a Canadian family of seven. We stayed a whole month at this estate in the rainforest in Queensland, Australia. The house is beautifully designed and was spotlessly clean upon arrival and throughout our stay. The couple that owns the place bent over backwards for us and were more than accommodating at all times. They even organized a bonfire night for us, complete with a traveling "swagman" who sang traditional folk songs for us and told us fascinating stories about the history of Australia. It was one of the many highlights of our trip. Port Douglas is only ten minutes away by car - a quaint little town, good for eating out and lazy days at Four Mile beach. We also did day trips up the coast to see the Daintree Rainforest, where we kayaked, snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, and the kids went ziplining/ "junglesurfing" through the rainforest canopy.
We can't recommend the Rainforest Estate enough. A truly wonderful experience in the best part of Northern Australia.
