This guest cottage is private and charming - from the moment I entered the gate the scent of the foliage and a large orange tree in the garden welcomed me. Even though the weather was cold, the owner arranged the main room and bedroom to be warm and cozy upon arrival. The location is perfect for strolling or short walks to the center of town and close to excellent markets for food shopping. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Large flat screen in living room and smaller in bdrm. It's in a quiet area which was important. So was the non smoking policy. The owner makes one feel very welcome.
We stayed at Eda's cottage in mid-April during a visit to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. We were extremely pleased with accommodations, the location and Eda's congeniality. The unit is comfortable, quiet and private. We truly enjoyed the hot tub. It is walking distance to 4th Avenue dining and shopping and the San Rafael transit hub.
Eda's cottage is quiet and well situated in a residential neighborhood. Eda was a very pleasant hostess, knowing when to initiate conversations and when to allow us peace and rest. The cottage itself is well equipped, clean and modern. The bed is very comfortable indeed. All in all, we would certainly consider returning to Eda's cottage were we to need a place in San Rafael in the future.
The cottage is enclosed in the back yard of the owner's house. The hideaway feels safe and secluded and ideal for our pets to roam around in. There is a large oak tree, fruit trees and shrubs in the garden that attract a variety of birds, including hummingbirds, much to our great delight.
The cottage is small, suitable for up to two people, but beautifully fitted, from the polished stone (marble?) worktop, to the luxury shower. We stayed for one month during a very hot spell so the fans were necessary during the daytime, with windows open. Night times were cooler, but the cottage temperature was just right.
San Rafael town centre is within walking distance, with all amenities, including Safeway, only a ten minute walk away. The town is full of restaurants, many with live music and dancing every night, Hiking / nature watching is accessible everywhere.
Eda is the perfect host. She responded to our needs and requests graciously and proved to be a fun companion, too!
We absolutely loved our stay, would return and would recommend the cottage to friends and relatives.
San Rafael is a cute little town that is a perfect home base for trips to San Francisco and wine county. The cottage was very easy to get to, in a cute little neighborhood about a mile from the "downtown" area. Eda was great, very friendly and helpful. She pointed me in the direction of a beautiful run/hike to a local park that had some great views. The cottage was small, but everything in it was nice, the bed was really comfortable, and it is perfect for one or two people. Overall I had a great stay, and I would definitely come back again.
We had a really nice and comfortable stay. We felt like it was our home. The house is nice and clean, everything is working. Perfect. We sure will return to this cottage.
Eda's cottage is a wonderfully inviting cozy home away - with everything one could desire, including a most gracious host. Fit for a weekend, a week, or even a semester!
