Shelter Island Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description
Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 8)
The house is a beautiful old farmhouse built in the 1890s nestled on a quiet 2 acres. It is a bright and airy (2500 square feet) with all the original woodwork and a screened porch.
The main floor features a living room with fireplace and bay windows. The parlor has a cozy seating area and leads out to the screened front porch. The dining room seats 8 comfortably.
The renovated chef's kitchen has a vast island with counter stools from France. It has a mudroom with a washer and dryer and leads outside to the arbor and original barn. There is a large umbrella and teak dining table with chairs for entertaining and a Weber Grill.
Also on the main floor is a guest room with a queen bed, attached restroom and shower. The original owner was a plumber and created the toilet and sink in one closet and the shower in another closet. Interesting, but it works.
On the second floor there is the large master bedroom with a king-size bed, restroom with toilet and shower. The sink is a wet bar area outside the bathroom, and this is also a former closet. Like the downstairs bathroom, it's creative plumbing but hey, it's clean and it works. There's a TV/media room with a flat screen TV, and DVD player. Two additional bedrooms have two twin beds (perfect for children) and a full-size bed. There's a bathroom with a bathtub and shower on the second floor which is a conventional bathroom.
The back yard is private and filled with oak, maple, cedar, and pine trees. There's a 100 year old blueberry patch and wildflowers in the meadow. There are several outdoor areas furnished with teak adirondack chairs, lounge chairs, and a hammock.
The house is within easy walking distance of Vine Street Cafe, tennis courts, basketball courts, and playgrounds. Wade's Beach is about a mile away so an easy bike ride.

Why Jill Vegas + Michael Zimberg chose Shelter Island
This place feels magical. It's so relaxing and laid back. It's safe, quiet, and the island is small. You can bike anywhere.
What makes this farmhouse unique
Shelter Island is dreamy. Love it's proximity to the Hampton's and North Fork, yet it's tucked away from traffic and crowds. The beaches are gorgeous. Great place to grill, drink coffee, eat on the porch, sunset cocktails, make popcorn and watch movies, read by the fire, go hiking in the Mashomack, it's the idyllic place where children can chase fireflies in the yard.
