Tortola Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 4) Pool, Hot Tub, Total Privacy, Gazebo

High Point Villa is located at the top of a short, private gated road--700 feet up and overlooking the Sir Francis Drake Channel, St. John, and at least a dozen (literally!) other islands!

There are 2 large bedroom suites located at opposite ends of the home, each connected to the main living area by short breezeways. Each bedroom suite has its own full bath along with private outdoor showers so you can enjoy the amazing views while soaping-up! Both bedroom suites have vaulted ceilings and multiple large, screened sliding glass doors that let the ocean breezes flow through, as well as four-post king size beds complete with goose-down mattress covers for unrivaled comfort. Ceiling fans above each bed.

The well appointed kitchen has lots of counter space and is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare gourmet meals. (We're serious--the kitchen has EVERYTHING you would expect to find in a regular family kitchen--other than a dishwasher, sorry.) Those gourmet meals can be enjoyed at either the indoor or outdoor dining tables--both have amazing views. Your designated chef need not despair of cooking duty--he or she can enjoy the company of companions AND views to the south of sailboats in the Channel and St. John because the kitchen is open to and overlooks the main living and dining area.

The main living and dining area is beautifully vaulted and open on three sides: To the east side is the pool, hot tub, large sunny pool deck, and views to Peter, Cooper, and Norman islands; to the south is the large deck with multiple sitting and dining areas and views of the Channel and St. John; to the west is the outdoor bar, a covered sitting area, and views of the West End of Tortola, Soper's Hole Harbor, Jost Van Dyke (home of the Soggy Dollar beach bar) and St. Thomas. The views from 'inside' are so big and so spectacular, and the 'inside' living spaces are so airy, breezy, and open to the outside living spaces that common notions of 'indoor' and 'outdoor' blend together in perfect harmony.

The pool is always refreshing! From in the pool or on the spacious pool deck your foreground view is of beautiful island landscaping flowing seamlessly into huge views of the British and US Virgin islands--spanning from east to west. The pool deck has both sunny and shaded sitting/relaxing areas. The heated hot tub has a stone waterfall that flows into the pool for subtle and soothing sounds while you soak.

Other amenities include: a Bose iPod docking station so you can dance to your favorite tunes; hilltop stone gazebo complete with hammock--yes, you will feel like the king of this island paradise as you swing in the hammock while sipping an icy beverage!; complete linens, beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, etc... (the house is amazing but you really should visit the many beautiful beaches on Tortola); seamless solar power and solar hot water--we are eco-minded; parking area for cars immediately adjacent to front entrance; library of books-many tastes;

You will need to rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle. If you use Jerry's Car rental ( 284-495-4111 ) . Jerry will pick you up and drop you off at the West End ferry or airport.

About Doug Jones

Linda and Doug Jones are retired and live in Minnesota. They love spending time relaxing in the islands. Linda has a passion for landscaping and it shows. We have been married 39 years.

We love traveling and can be pursauded to share the winter season with guests. Call us and we will be glad to try and work out dates for you, especially if you can be flexible.

Doug Jones purchased this villa in 2001

Why Doug Jones chose Tortola

We spent many years on sailing vacations traveling in the islands. Then we started mixing our time half sailing and half in vacation rentals. When our favorite vacation rental was no longer available we started looking for a place where we could enjoy longer winter stays. It took only one sunset at High Point Villa to end our search.

What makes this villa unique

One of the best things about High Point Villa is just that. We are at the top of the hill and enjoy total privacy (except on Thursdays, when the gardener, housekeeper and pool people are here). No cars and trucks driving on nearby roads, just the sounds of the breezes and the birds. We enjoy watching the variety of boats moving up and down the Sir Francis Drake Channel.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Mr. and

Mrs. Jones,

we stayed at your Tortola villa

in April/May and would like to take the opportunity to thank you for

letting us

stay at such a beautiful place and for making our stay a very pleasant

one. We

come to Tortola for 18 years now from Germany and over the last years I always looked

up at

the villa and asked myself if it was for rent. Finally I found it and it fulfills all expectations. The view is

probably

the best on the island and you decorated it lovely. If I had a house

like this

it would look much the same. Also it is very unusual that the owners

contact you

on arrival and welcome you at their place. That was very kind of

you.

We sure

will come back and stay at High Point again, although it seem

difficult as

it is so frequently booked. But we do understand why that is

so.

Thank you

again.

Kind

regards,

Best view on the island!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I rented this beautiful home for our 25th wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed the home. We did explore the island and do some excursions, but our favorite place was the home. Several nights we did not go out to eat, because we wanted to eat out on the deck and enjoy the breeze and the sunset. The are several sitting areas around the deck, including a pub tab and an outdoor bar. The outdoor living spaces and pool area are totally private. We spent a lot of time out on the deck sunning, reading, or swimming. The gazebo at the top of the property with the hammock was another highlight of this house - a great place to take a siesta!

The owners, Doug and Linda, were really are responsive. We peppered them with questions prior to our arrival and they gave us a lot of information about the island, rental cars, weather, etc. It really helped us prepare for the trip. Doug also touched base with us during our stay to make sure everything was OK also and to see if we needed anything. We rented a car from a West End rental car place, Jerry's, who knows the owners and was gracious enough to have us follow him to the house for the first time, which was helpful since we did not know the island at all. When we arrived at the home we were met by a House Greeter (another Doug) who walked us through the house and showed us everything we needed to know during our stay.

All I can say is if you look at the pictures on the website they are tremendous, and still don't do the home or the view justice! We would go back to High Point Villa in a heartbeat!

Wow, what a view, what a great villa!!! We are strongly recommend it to any one one who is seeking peace and quite and getaway from city madness.
First af all we would like to thanks so much owners Doug and Linda for great communication and flexibility in making this dream come thru vacation reality. My wife and our 13 old son enjoy being there a lot and definitely will come back again and again.
Photos that are posted on website don't do justification of this great place.
Villa it self is very clean, well equipped and orginize. What ever you need it is there. There were days that we have not leave villa, just stay there swim relax and listen to great music with fantastic view and warm breeze.
Road to get to top were villa so located is fun, but definitely you need good, strong 4x4 vehicle with good tires and breaks. Jerry car rental were great as well. They pick us up from airport at 8pm with smile and welcome. Great service and will recommend them to anyone who is looking for good rental company and great prices.
The sunsets were spectacular, while were sipping slowly red wine. Something to remember, and on top of it swim in colourful warm cristal pool at night and Jacuzi.
Fantastic time in fantastic place.
Strongly recommend to anyone and you will not be disapointend.

Amazing views that felt like home

  • 5 of 5
We have been to the USVIs before and rented a home. So this trip we wanted to rent again for our first time in the BVIs. We looked at several online but settled on High Point.

Communication with the owners was easy and frequent. They were very informative and gave us tips on car rentals and groceries. They even had some recommendations in a book at the house for some eats and places.

First thing is you have to be aware of the drive up as many reviews have mentioned. It certainly requires a 4x4. It's not too daunting honestly but make sure you have a good vehicle. Mine was a bit underpowered and had to leave the A/C off just to make it. And the brakes were iffy. So other than that, the drive is not to worry about. It's actually kind of fun.

Once we arrived at the house we were met by Donna who showed us around and had already purchased our requested grocery list. When you step out on the porch that surrounds the house, it is breathtaking. I couldn't believe my eyes as it was like living in a postcard. I never could get enough of the sunset off that deck. We tried to be home for it each night.

The kids loved the pool and were in it everyday. It was fun to hang out in the pool with a nice rum drink and that view.

For the city girls/guys, there will be bugs as the house is open by design. So just know that going in and all is good. You'll see lizards and bugs and things but it adds to the island feel.

The only downside was it was hot sometimes without A/C. Most nights it was comfortable but we did sleep w/o sheets over us. For someone like me who likes cold rooms to sleep, it took some adjustment. I wouldn't trade the view for some other place with A/C though.

We cooked on the grill a couple times, dried some towels in the dryer and cooked every morning breakfast. The kitchen is stocked and you'll find all the items you'll need. If you mix a lot of drinks you might need to buy some ice since the icemaker really didn't keep up for our needs.

The outdoor showers were fun for me and my son but the girls tended to like the indoor one. Go figure. :)

All in all I really liked this place and I would recommend it to anyone and plan to stay there again when we come back. Awesome views, clean and nice, great people to deal with all make it a winner.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon where we stayed at this incredible location. As beautiful as the pictures on the listing are, they do not come close to truly capturing the beauty of this place. The views from everywhere on the property are outstanding. The house is furnished with anything you could possibly want, and is conveniently located to all of the West End attractions as well as a short drive down to Road Town. We could not have been happier with our choice to stay here. Doug and Linda, the owners, are fantastic to work with and even called to check in on to us to make sure our stay was as good as possible. The property manager on the island is also very friendly and came to meet us when we arrived on Tortola to let us in the house and give us a tour of the property. We did have to contend with some mosquito's due to some recent rains on the island, but it wasn't enough to impact the trip significantly. At the end of the week, we truly did not want to leave.

Afordable Luxury!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

  • 5 of 5
I purposefully waited about doing this review and want to apologize to the owner’s Doug and Linda for the wait. We traveled with another couple in September 2013. We had such a wonderful visit that we wanted to see if we were still in love with the place a few months down the road. WE ARE!
When we arrived on Tortola, Jerry’s Car Rental met us at the Ferry dock. He personally led us up to the Villa. I must say, the first time up, with the switchbacks, I had to close my eyes a few times. You will definitely need a 4X4 to get up there. But when we arrived at the house, we quickly realized that we had made the right choice. The view is absolutely incredible!
We were met by Mrs. Donna, who had opened up the house, gave us the tour and made recommendations for restaurants and local activities. We had made arrangements for her to purchase a few grocery items so we would not have to grocery shop on our first day. I had “croissants” and “blueberry muffins” on the list, and when she could not find any, she had made them herself! Now that’s service!
The weather was VERY HOT that day with no breeze so the house was a little warm to say the least. We had only been at the house a little while when Doug called to check on us. He worked us through getting the ceiling fans working, which made the weather bearable. We had a dip in the pool, enjoyed our first “Slushy” fruit drink and settled in. Since there is no air-conditioning, we recommend that you spend your days exploring the island. As small as the island is, we never got around to all of the beaches. There is much to explore, even in September when most of the attractions are closed.

The sunsets were spectacular. We enjoyed our coffee while watching the sunrise. The only problem was deciding from which deck to enjoy the view, so we tried them all. The house and all its amenities are perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked and we wanted for nothing. We spent most all of our evenings at the house just so we could relax and enjoy the view. The bedrooms are very spacious and lovely. The pictures on the website were the reason we chose High Point Villa, and we were definitely not disappointed! Highly recommend Doug and Linda’s home.
