Very private coastal home nestled at treetop level yet with dramatic ocean views from every room. House was built and finished October 2010, so every single thing about this house is perfectly new and sparkling!! Light filled house with sky lights, soaring ceilings, floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, Headland Mountains, crashing waves and San Francisco beyond. Huge wrap around deck, private deck off master bedroom with Adirondacks and lounge chair for sunning, relaxing, watching the waves or nighttime stargazing. Hawks and falcons fly overhead as whales and dolphins pass by at various times of the year.
After a day of hiking the endless coastal and mountain trails, watch the moon rise from your living room window seats, enjoy a BBQ on your deck, take a deep jacuzzi tub to relax, and finally get lulled to sleep at night by the sounds of the crashing Pacific waves and the far off fog horn which escorts boats through the Golden Gate Bridge!
I first moved to Muir Beach in 1996, and knew this community was my heart's desire. I delight in taking advantage of all it has to offer...kayak trips up the coast, full moon mountain biking in the hills, and sunrise hikes to taste the salt air, hear the rushing waves, and see coyotes run the hills if I am lucky. Though family reasons have taken me back east for awhile, Muir Beach feels like my true home.
Beverly Biondi purchased this house in 2010
I built this home high on a hillside, hoping for a private setting, and a feeling that I could be 'outside' while indoors. That is just what I have. Sometimes I even need to wear my sunglasses inside on a great sunny day!
I recently named my house 'Aurora', after the Roman Goddess of the Dawn. As my house faces southeast, both gorgeous sunrises and bright full moon rises will greet you over the headlands, and have you awestruck at the beauty that surrounds you. The nicest part about this house is that although you are in a house filled with huge panes of glass that let you see all of the amazing outdoor scenery that surrounds you, you are nestled in the treetops and feel at once very exposed to nature yet tucked away in the most private place around.
The house was the perfect retreat for our family holiday gathering. The sound of the wind in the trees and the ocean waves were just what we needed this Christmas! With a little dance party in the living room, some wine, amazing sunsets and gorgeous hiking, we had it all!
Loved the house and the location. Beautiful sights and sounds as you look through the tree tops at Muir Beach and the pacific ocean. House was clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen has full amenities. Window seats on main floor are large and comfortable enough to sleep on -- our kids slept there and fell asleep looking at the stars. Wifi worked great. Don't forget your own soap and shampoo! Amazingly remote and, but within a short ride of Point Reyes National Seashore, Muir Woods, Sausalito, etc. Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station has the best pastries. Visit Hog Island Oyster Co along Tomales Bay for a fantastic shuck-your-own experience. Owner was great to work with. Would definitely stay there again.
Thank you, Bev, for sharing your beautiful Muir Beach home. The views were amazing and the location made it easy to see the Sausalito houseboats before we arrived. Really loved the attention to decorating detail and color pallette and the welcoming wine and vase of flowers! We played in the warm sand at Stinson Beach and explored the many natural wonders of Muir Beach. Meals in were a joy to prepare. Your kitchen is well-stocked and having the grill was perfect! We do wish that Friday evening/Saturday morning energetic paddle boarder had brought the crabs she and the kids collected to our door, but oh well...watching her was like viewing a marathon! Music (good wifi) and reading material about the area gave us new things to share. The multi-level arrangement enhanced the views, provided privacy AND gave mid-afternoon nappers a chance to retreat. Only wish we had planned another day for hiking one of the many nearby trails. We'll definitely recommend a stay to our friends!
This was my third stay at this fantastic rental in Muir Beach. This time together with my wife only. We have stayed here for longer periods two times before - first time during summer 2011 and second time during Christmas 2012 where we travelled together with the rest of the familly including Grand parents.
The house is perfectly located as an "Eagles nest" in the hill above Muir Beach with a fantastic view over the pacific. The house is equipped with everything you need and a spacious terrace overlooking the ocean and the nature/wildlife around the house full of life! . Birds in all sizes can be observed very close by (humming birds, Blue birds, hawks and vultures) - we have even observed whales playing in the bay outside Muir Beach.
The road over the Malampais Mountain to Muir Beach has been significantly improved over the last couple of years - a perfect trip with a convertible Mustang like the one we rented last year. The Mustand made it without any problems all the way to the house. The house is a also perfect "base - camp" for trips in the Marine area. Our favorites are Mill Valley, Sausalito, Bolinas and Tiburon. San Fran is easily accessible by ferry from Sausalito. However the area in close vicinity to the house should not be forgotten. This is part of the Golden Gate National Park and includes fantastic hiking and biking trails. The Muir Woods National Park is also amazing with it`s giant red wood trees.
Needless to say my wife and I always include a stay at this rental during our frequent visits to Northern California.

This is an amazing home - the ocean view, the wonderfully designed interior, the peaceful location - it really has it all. Despite feeling so remote, it's actually quite easy to get to other locations. So many hiking trails nearby as well as within easy (and scenic) driving distance.
The owner was great to work with and it's clear that she put a great deal of care and effort into making this home welcoming.
We'll be back again!
We loved our stay at Muir Beach and the view was unbelievable. We couldn't take our eyes off of it. Highlights included large windows, lots of light, privacy, plenty of social space and walking distance to beach, Pelican Inn and Pacific Coast Trail. We would definitely go back and stay longer next time. Thanks Bev for allowing us to stay at your lovely place!
My husband and I spent a few days here during our travels up PCH from LA. Never having been to this part of the country, I was amazed and the beauty of the area. This house is perfectly away from it all. It looks like the pictures. It is clean, with windows on 3 sides allowing the beauty of the area inside! High on a cliff, the views are spectacular.
Some things to consider that will make your decision more informed, and therefore easier on the lovely owner! Curvy roads are fun to drive, so, if that is your thing, you will love this house. The beach is a very quick jump down a few hundred feet, or a pretty steep hike down roads and steps. We were not able to drive to the beach because the parking lot was closed. Food really needs to be purchased before getting to the house. Once you plop on the porch, you will not want to get up. Restaurants are not a quick trip, but, we love curvy roads, so it wasn't a big deal. The house itself is very open, even the bedrooms downstairs, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a private, romantic trip. There was work being done on the house next door, and the path to the house went right by the window of the bedroom we used as a dressing room.....no window treatments provided a view none of us will forget!
The area is beautiful! The owner was fabulous to deal with. The house is so enjoyable! It is a beautiful area!
Welcome to Muir Beach, an unusually beautiful beach community on the Northern California coast. When you visit here you will feel a world apart from the bustle of the city as you bath your senses in all that nature has to offer....yet you are only a 25 minute car ride from incredible San Francisco. Step out your door and walk to the beach for beach-combing, tide pooling, and body surfing. Hike endless mountain and coastal trails or rent a bike for some of the best mountain biking to be found. Enjoy authentic English pub food and fare at our local Pelican Inn. Only a fifteen minute ride to Sausalito, 25 minutes to San Francisco, and just a day trip away from Napa and Sonoma Valley's vineyards to the north, or Monterey Bay Aquarium to the south. Muir Beach is perfect for both active, curious families as well as those wishing for the ultimate romantic getaway!!
