Amazing view, fantastic week!
My husband and I stayed in this upper two-bedroom unit with our 17 year old daughter from Mar.18-26. We arrived at the airport just after 7, picked up the rental car, stopped for groceries, and were happily seated on the patio before 9 p.m. Hoyochi Nikko was easy to find and everything was ready and welcoming for when we arrived. Parking is very tight, but everyone in the complex makes it work and the assigned spaces means you'll always have a spot.
The next morning was absolutely glorious and the view was astounding, to say the least. I secretly hoped I'd see a whale while I was sipping my orange juice and voilà...one breached just off shore! Of course, I soon found out this was a daily occurrence and we never tired of watching them. We spent mornings and evenings just hanging around the complex because it was already perfect. We would grab some loungers by the ocean, read and relax in the sun, swim and play in the waves, take a refreshing dunk in the pool, and then enjoy some refreshments on the deck. Apparently the beach comes and goes, but it was great for us. We felt safe and were able to still touch bottom 300 feet from shore!
The complex is so cute and other tenants made us feel like part of the family. We were greeted every morning with a wave or a hello and offered advice about the island. People were even quick to lend us snorkels and boogie boards. The pu pu party was also really fun, we talked casually and ate while watching the sunset. Oh yeah...the sunsets are epic here. The location is excellent and we often walked to the cafe or the market down the road.
We made good use of the kitchen and it was well equipped, pretty much everything we needed was there (spices, oil, sugar etc...)The living room isn't super huge and might feel a bit cramped for more than 4 people, but we'd just open the sliding doors and increase the space. My daughter loved having the loft to herself, but it was really spacious and could have easily accommodated a couple of her friends. We took the back bedroom which was fine and only noisy if you left the windows open. With the fans on and the patio doors left open a bit, we'd stay cool and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean. The bathroom was adequate for us, although travelers with teenagers might wish for a second bathroom. It's pretty small, but it's only a bathroom right?
Overall, this condo was heavenly. I only hope it doesn't become too popular so we can return soon.
