Photos and Description of the San Francisco vacation townhome rental
4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. Sleeps 9-10

You are our house guest at Mission Manor in the 2nd floor flat of an enchanting, 3600 square foot San Francisco home, ideally located in the vibrant Mission Dolores area, between the Castro and the Mission District. We are just steps away from beautiful Dolores Park, Mission Dolores Church and many of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Within two or three blocks, you can take a street car, BART, Muni, bus or Zip Car to explore the city and visit other well-known destinations such as the Ferry Building, Union Square, AT&T Park, the Alcatraz tour boats and Fishermen’s Wharf, or intersect with San Francisco’s historic cable car lines.

Built in 1910, Mission Manor retains many original details, including fireplaces, pocket doors, vaulted ceilings, the original claw foot bathtub and dazzling natural light throughout. You'll have the best sleep of your life on any one of the new mattresses in the four bedrooms. Two have two California King size beds and two have Queen size beds, one of them a Tempurpedic brand mattress. The living room can be closed off at night to become a fifth bedroom as needed. There you will find an Italian lounge sofa that folds back to become a very comfortable double with memory foam mattress topper. There are 600 thread count sheets, down or down-alternative pillows, velour blankets and lofty comforters to choose from.

Amenities in each room also include: Wi-Fi Internet access, HD-TV, DVD player and a clock radio/CD player. There is a small DVD Movie library and a classical CD music library for guests to choose from. Also provided: luxurious 100% Turkish cotton towels, hairdryers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and make-up remover pads.

The fully-equipped, eat-in kitchen seats eight comfortably. Kitchen is equipped with stainless steel dishwasher, a high-end GE Profile side- by-side fridge/freezer, Cuisinart toaster, coffee maker and blender, pots & pans, dishes. To begin your stay, we generously stock the fridge with fresh fruits, juice, milk, 7 grain bread, English muffins, butter, and jam. Our cupboards offer a selection of hot and cold cereals; black, green and herbal teas, coffee and hot chocolate. If you plan to cook, a full array of spices, plus oils and vinegar, are supplied to help get you started.

You can easily pick up your favorite treats, local organic produce, wine, cheese and luscious take-out at the Bi-Rite gourmet grocery around the block. The Mission bodegas, Safeway, and Mollie Stones Market are all only a few short blocks away.

Down the back stairs in the basement is the laundry room with large capacity washer dryer for your use. Detergent and fabric softener dryer sheets are provided.

Mission Manor is located in the epicenter of the Mission District's foodie paradise. For lunch or dinner, take a stroll through the neighborhood to discover the famed “Gourmet Ghetto” of 18th Street. Try the perfect croissants or the legendary bread pudding at Tartine Bakery, (rated 28 by Zagat’s). Enjoy a casual breakfast or lunch at the Dolores Park Café or dine at the renowned Delfina Restaurant and it's charming pizzeria next door. En route home, stop by for some of the city’s best ice cream at the Bi-Rite Creamery. Or walk another block to try some of the many fine restaurants along the Valencia Corridor to eat at Range, our Michelin star neighborhood restaurant, or one of the authentic ethnic restaurants that line 16th Street or Mission Street. No neighborhood has more places rated by Zagat's than the Mission...You'll never want to leave the neighborhood to find the best food in San Francisco.

Mission Manor is ideally located to take advantage of all public transportation options. Please note: We don't recommend bringing a car into the city if you can avoid it. Street parking is scarce and usually has a strictly enforced 2 hour parking limit between the hours of 8:00am-9:00pm. Garage parking is expensive, especially in congested areas. You are best off walking & using our very good public transportation system to get around the city. Mission Manor does have space for one car in the on-premise garage, available 1st come/1st serve for $25/n extra. (Size restrictions apply).

Car: not necessary

Fabulous location in sunny Mission Dolores, between two of San Francisco's most vibrant areas: The Mission and The Castro. This is the heart of San Francisco's Sunbelt. No fog--ever. Food lovers will think they've died and gone to heaven. Foodies come from all over the Bay Area just to eat and food shop here. Choose among countless excellent restaurants -- from an abundance of ethnic eateries to fine dining under the Michelin stars. And while you're having your perfect croissant at Tartine's, that T-shirted guy sitting next to you, bare arms covered in 'ink,' just might be this week's newly minted Internet millionaire, celebrated author or artist who just delivered new work to one of the many galleries tucked among the off-beat boutiques, hip coffee shops and night club venues.

To head downtown or see iconic SF sights, a short walk to BART and all other public transport takes you everywhere.

Other Activities: Bike lanes run all thru the Mission. Rent a bike to see extraordinary murals unique to the Mission, on the Women's Building & in Clarion & Balmy Alleys. At Christmas & Easter, join the candlelight procession from old Dolores Mission just as generations have before you. A block and a half from Mission Manor lies Dolores Park, with its green hill sloping down to the lawn & tennis courts. The lawn attracts the weekend and after-five set bringing picnics or take-out from the 18th Street Bi-Rite Grocery. Year-round events include summer concerts & movie nights. People let down their hair--and sometimes their inhibitions--to relive the spirit of the sixties. Fingers strum guitars. Dogs run after frisbees. And a silent dancer makes bubbles the size of hula hoops. During the day, at the other end of the park, one hears only glee-filled laughter from one of the best children's playgrounds in City.

Golf: The Presidio Golf Course (Public) overlooking the San Francisco Bay is one of the most beautiful courses in the Bay Area. Opened in 1895, the course was formerly reserved only for high ranking militatry officers. It opened to the public in 1996. Municipal courses TCP Harding Park (18 holes) and Fleming Golf Course (9 holes) are located in Lake Merced Park. Harding Park was designed by Willie Watson in 1925, renovated in 2003, and hosted the President's Cup in 2009.

The Best Place in San Francisco

This was an excellent stay. Planned a birthday party for my 25 year old and it could not have turned out better. Mission Manor was exactly as advertised but better! The rooms and home were very clean and there was obvious attention to every detail. With ages from 24 to 62 I was a little unsure if this was the right fit,,,,I was moren than pleased and happy! The owner was not only helpful with our weekend plans, she even had a huge Birthday Cake in the kitchen when we arrived!!!

I would highly recommend this property to any one. it is easy to access public transportation, restaurants abound and there is more to see than you have time for. I look forward to going back to this wonderful residence.

It was also very affordable and so lovely. We could not have asked for more! It was so nice to come home in the afternoon /evening and gather in the kitchen or living room and just be girls! Loved it!

Best Stay Ever.

I would recommend Mission Manor to any San Fransisco visitor! The rooms are gorgeous, the house is lovely, and the property manager is super nice. My co-workers and I stayed here for a recent work trip, and we had a great time. The kitchen is stocked with delicious food for breakfast/snacking and the location is close to a lot of shops and amazing restaurants. If I HAD to list a drawback, it's that the nearest BART stop has a lot of homeless people, but hey, that just comes with the territory of San Fransisco. Overall, we loved Mission Manor!

Had a fantastic experience with Mission Manor- excellent description, Karen and Amy were a complete delight, the house is beautifully furnished and impeccably kept, and the stocked kitchen was incredible. The location is perfect, we all slept like logs, and people that came to visit were floored at how nice the apartment was. Would definitely stay here again- one of the best rental experiences I've had.

Wonderful Mission Property

Had a great time while in San Francisco and much of it was due to having such a great house and wonderful property manager. She greeted us warmly upon our arrival and gave great recommendations about our planned itinerary. Her recommendations were excellent and very helpful. The home was very nice and easily accommodated our party of eight from Michigan. We are all in our late 50's and have discriminating tastes. The house was neat and clean. The well stocked kitchen easily accommodated all of us. The house was very close to local public transportation (BART and streetcar) and never required us to have a car or take a taxi. Overall, the experience was wonderful and I would recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to San Francisco. We would definitely return to this property.
