A serene sanctuary from all the craziness, and just a short drive from the Quarter!

As a person who enjoys a quiet sanctuary sometime between dusk and dawn... This location was perfect for taking a short scenic ride up towards the Quarter and back, without having to deal with the touristy craziness that the Quarter provides, especially if I'm trying to get a good night's sleep. I was looking for a location that was just far enough away from the latenight Quarter craziness, but just close enough to travel back and forth via public transportation. And I found it!
The house was very clean, the kitchen was fully functioning, and the owner was very helpful with providing me with web links of fun weekend activities. The neighborhood was very quiet and welcoming. The house itself is quite serene, tucked away in the middle of Garden District, just minutes from St Charles Ave and Magazine St.
If you don't have a car and plan on spending your time floating between this house and say, The French Quarter, this is somewhat easy to accomplish by getting familiar with the streetcar and bus schedules. The bus was approx 20-30 minute and $1.25 ride to the Canal St (the Quarter's edge), which is great considered all the time I could've wasted driving around the Quarter looking for a spot to park, not to mention feeding an expensive hourly meter.
However, if you don't plan on spending too much time in the Quarter but want to see some sites, you're just minutes from Magazine south, and St Charles north. Lots of site-seeing, shopping, and history around there!
Rest assured, I will be coming back to this place for my next trip to New Orleans!
