THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY.

  • 5 of 5
Perfect laid back place stay and spend some time! For the two of us + dog the place was much larger than expected. It was clean, modern and I have to disagree with the post before this. The couch was not broken, the kitchen was super spacious and had plenty of room to cook! The kitchen was fully stocked with more than enough plates and glasses. I loved the face that Sid had organic cleaning supplies everywhere. Where do I find cilantro lime dish soap?!

Outside the home itself, the Garden District neighborhood is extremely walkable and charming, and safe! Just a few blocks way you have Magazine St. with the famous La Petite Grocery and the ever needed Super Food Juice Bar (after we went to the French Quarter). St. Charles St feels like you are in Savannah. It was perfect.

Sid was extremely responsive and reachable via email and text. Very highly recommend this flat if visiting NOLA.

FINE LOCATION

  • 2 of 5
This house is advertised as Garden District, but it really is not in the Garden district but more Uptown, although we were fine with the location; it felt safe to walk to Magazine Street with its restaurants and shops. The ad also states that it is a new renovation and set up like a hotel, neither of which are true. The place needs basic maintenance to be comfortable (bathroom sink practically falling off the wall; all hinges so loud they will wake everyone, "comfy" looking chair in living room unusable due to broken seat; other furniture questionable, although the bed was comfortable). The kitchen is barely equipped, with mismatched old pans, little counter space, etc. -- I could not consider cooking there. The yard was anything but inviting. When we were tired of eating at restaurants, we bought a prepared meal at the Whole Foods on Magazine Street and took it to Audubon Park, since that was much more pleasant.

CHARMING BASIC RAILROAD IN GREAT LOCATION

  • 4 of 5
We are a couple who were traveling with our 11-month old over the holiday season and were looking for an apartment both for convenience of location and convenience of use. For the most part, we found that. It's a great neighborhood with the streetcar on St. Charles, and world-class restaurants on Magazine all within walking distance. We rarely went to the French Quarter (we had been before) and instead chose to explore the Garden District and other neighborhoods with our rental car. As for the apartment, it had a pack n' play (which was clutch), big kitchen, comfortable bed, washer/dryer, and cable TV. There were a few downsides though and depending on your needs may be a concern. It was very cold and drafty when we visited, and the newly-installed thermostat took a day or two to truly figure out. The living room has a streetlight shining into it at night, and I don't think would be comfortable if someone had to sleep in that room. Also, I don't think it would be comfortable to sleep on that couch. The door between the living room and bedroom doesn't close entirely. The decoration and appointments were charming (not luxurious) but basic. Clearly this is an apartment merely used for rentals, and not to be lived in. The floor required a once over by us due to the crawling baby. If you can get past any of those issues (and were of course magnified traveling with a baby), it's a good homebase to explore this fantastic city.

GREAT LOCATION IN THE GARDEN DISTRICT (TOURO)

  • 5 of 5
We had a great stay over Thanksgiving. The apartment is very well located, only two blocks to Magazine Street (and the number 11 bus to the French Quarter and downtown) and three+ blocks from the St. Charles Street trolley. The New Orleans RTA has an iPhone app that let's you know when the next bus is scheduled to arrive at your stop (you need the stop number from the sign at the stop) so you don't have to wait more than a few minutes.
We only used our car to drive to Frenchman Street (you can park on Esplanade). By all means, do avoid Bourbon Street (except for Galatoire's) and you'll have a great visit. The house is great for a couple or a family. It's a shotgun so there is not much privacy as one walks through the bedroom to get from the living room to the bathroom or kitchen. It's dog friendly - we had our two Scottish Terriers with us - they loved walking around the area and we found the neighbors especially friendly (as long as we picked up after them).
Sid is a helpful and conscientious owner. We would stay here again.

QUIET, QUAINT AND ALL YOU NEED.

  • 5 of 5
Sid was so wonderful to work with. We really enjoyed the pet friendly duplex with "free"parking!
This is a shotgun home with the neighbor sharing the backyard and W/D. Emily is the most wonderful neighbor who has the cutest and friendliest dog too. She works and you do not get the pleasure of seeing her often. I enjoyed reading in the quiet backyard while my husband watched TV in the living room. We drove and it was such a treat to park right in front of the house. The bed and couch were comfy. The couch is not a sleeper sofa so I do not think it would be comfortable for more than 2 people. Was perfect for us and our dogs. The 4 block walk to St. Charles street was a treat. Great location and lovely homes nearby. We loved the restaurants on nearby Magazine Street. Everything was great, only wish was that the bed was king sized. But it is a good queen size bed!

EXCELLENT LOCATION, COMFORTABLE HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Sid's place for Mardi Gras this year with our 4 and 5 year olds and it was most enjoyable. The house was in a great location -just a few blocks from the restaurants, shops, etc on Magazine street, and a few blocks from all the parades. We walked to the Fresh Market for basic groceries, but the house even had a few necessities stocked for us, which was nice that we didn't need to buy salt and pepper, coffee sweetner, etc! Everything was perfect - from the responsiveness of the owner (which I find to be pretty rare) to the condition of the house, etc. Parking was very easy - even during Mardi Gras! Overall wonderful experience and I'll rent it again if the chance comes up!!
