Cottage, 5 Bedrooms, 1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 7+2)

A family home, with 3 bedrooms (sleep 5) on second floor, and another 2 beds on third floor.

In addition there is a sofa bed in the lounge.

On the ground floor there is a modern kitchen with large American style fridge, microwave, cooker, dishwasher. There is a dining room, and a lounge with a freeview TV. The house has wireless broadband in all rooms.

20mins on foot from the centre of Oxford, with easy bus transfer (bus stops 70m) and nearby shops.

Close to open countryside along River Cherwell.

The ideal place for a family to visit Oxford and the surrounding area.

Excellent venue for a family gathering

Our families visited us at the White House at various times over the Christmas week. It was ideal as there is everything you need, and more, and there was plenty of room for eleven for Christmas dinner. Children love the upstairs playroom. Bathroom and showeroom are great. It's very convenient for getting into Oxford City Centre and Rail Station on No13 bus. Very frequent and a few minutes ride.
Communication with the owner was very good. When we arrived we were amazed at the amount of space there was in the house. A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Very convenient and comfortable

This house is not right in the center of Oxford, but for us it was very convenient. It is located between the university and the John Radcliffe Hospital, where my husband was working. The walk into town is lovely and not too long, about 20 minutes across fields or through the university parks. The house is very spacious, with five bedrooms, comfortable for up to 7 people. There were five of us staying there for four weeks, with occasional visitors, and we had plenty of space. It was very convenient to have a washer and dryer -- some places we have stayed in Britain have a washer but no dryer. We found the owners to be very responsive to any questions or requests, and we received our deposit back the morning we left. Overall, a perfect base for exploring Oxford and surrounding environs. We did not have a car with us but rented one a couple weekends. If one does have a (small) car, the garage is extremely nice to have, as parking on the street is by permit only on weekdays.

Comfortable house in convenient location

Our family of 5 just rented the White House for 4 weeks. It is not right in the center of the city, but about a 20-minute walk into town through lovely fields or the University Parks. My husband was working at John Radcliffe Hospital, about 20 minutes' walk the other direction, so the location was perfect for us. We are used to large (by European standards) American houses, and this house was great for us. Three of the bedrooms are tiny but cozy. Even with five people in the house, and occasional guests, we felt that we had plenty of room. Our deposit was returned promptly (in cash) the morning we left.

Large property in quiet location

Lovely light and spacious property in a very quiet location, with a most pleasant walk across meadows in to town. Well detailed and accurate website showing rooms, views, etc. My only criticism was the sometimes slow response to queries from the owner via email (would probably phone next time!) and a delay in the return of the breakages deposit cheque. Otherwise, we found The White House to be all we hoped for and more. My friends and I had a super stay here and would definitely return again.
