We had a great long weekend up at your beautiful cabin! Thank you sooo much for having us, as the time was well enjoyed. Two of my party were fortunate enough to see a momma black bear with her cubs.
.......your cabin was more than we could have imagined and we all thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend!
This property hosted my group wonderfully. We have an annual ski trip and this place made our 2015 trip awesome. The place is better than the photos show. There is plenty of room for 10+ adults, awesome views and a great ski hill. The hot tub company made a service call, they were quick and friendly, he even gave us some mountain tips for the next days riding. The owners are great, Thanks again!
With two active grandparents, six parents, and five delightful grandchildren under the age of 6 years of age, the cabin was a perfect place and met the needs of each individual. The skiers in the family could ski in and out, and the oldest two grandchildren joined in the experience, with everyone thoroughly enjoying great conditions on the hill. The children who were too young to ski enjoyed great walks and sled rides down to the base of the hill and then up on the gondola to a beautiful restaurant at the top of the hill where they joined the rest of the family. The hot tub was beautiful, and many good conversations occurred after the hill closed. As a family who enjoys great food and conversation, the design of the kitchen and living room accommodated this very well. With three families with young children, the separate rooms and living spaces accommodated their needs, so the babies could sleep with all the action taking place in other parts of the house. Additionally, I appreciated the support that Mel gave us from the time we booked until we were comfortably settled in the cabin. We have rented places in many different parts of the world, and this was among the very best for meeting the needs of our family. I would highly recommend this for families wishing for a fun-filled family skiing vacation.
Definitely one of the nicest and comfortable chalets I have stayed at. Everyone has their own space if needed and the hot tub is amazing after a long day on the mountain. The photos are a little old, but it was to our surprise as there have been updates and a huge smart TV in the basement! Chalet was warm, comfortable, close, and equipped with almost anything you could think of. Ski-in was indeed to within 10 meters (need to walk across the street from the neighbors house). Ski-out was just a little walk around the corner about 30-40 meters. Was great for a little warm-up and stretch before popping the bindings on. Make sure to bring towels as Mel will tell you. They have laundry and even laundry soap and dryer sheets for you to use. We didn't know this and brought our own big bottle. I really do mean they have almost everything you need there! Hotel sized soap, shampoo, body lotion, etc. that you will normally see at a hotel is also left in each washroom to be used too.
The IGA is hard to miss as you need to pass it to get up to the resort. Prices weren't bad at all and even some items were cheaper than what we paid the day earlier in Calgary. Could probably skip the stalking up before as it really will just be easier to shop there. The general store is well stalked, but no eggs, but had bacon and milk for about a dollar or two more than in town.
Kicking Horse has amazing terrain and if you want to keep it safe they have some great groomers, but if you have an adventurous side like we did, then they have a series of steep bowls that are amazing if you have the ability. If renting skis, they have top of the line stuff! I would suggest calling ahead if you know the ski and size you are looking for. I highly recommend getting the $5 insurance as this is quite the rocky terrain in the advanced areas and can hide rocks. Every day I had gouges out of my skis and the rental shop is really good about it if you have the insurance. They said even if the ski comes back in two pieces the insurance covers it.
I cannot say anything about the restaurants or pubs in the area as we did all our meals and drinking at the chalet (it is well setup for it). It did look a little pricey and not a lot of selection of where to go. We stayed midweek, so this may attribute to it being a little dead. Never had to wait in a line to get on the gondola or the chair.
Definitely suggest staying here, you won't regret it!
We only had a quick one night stay, but we were extremely pleased with the house and it's more beautiful in person. We cooked a dinner for our group and we were very pleased that the kitchen had everything we needed for our meal preparation. Mel was lovely to deal with and the booking process was painless.
We can't wait to return!
Our group of 3 families stayed at this home from Dec 27-30th, 2013. It is a beautiful home that is very well decorated. We had an awesome time skiing Kicking Horse. This ski in/ski out location is very convenient. We looked forward to the hot tub after a long day on the slopes and it was well used by everyone. Melanie is very helpful, positive and great to deal with. We had a fantastic time!
We had a blast at the ski hill, great conditions and a lot of great terrain on the mountain.
The chalet was fantastic, great kitchen with anything you could need. Very comfortable stay with more than enough space and sleeping space for a large group of people. Relaxing in the hot tub after a day skiing was wonderful, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to go to kicking horse.
