My family was camping in the redwoods and we fell in love with its natural beauty, the activities it has to offer in the immediate/surrounding areas as well its proximity to the rest of the Bay area. We feel very happy to own a piece of this tranquil setting and we invite our guests to come and enjoy it.
What makes this cottage unique
We come to the cottage to relax, enjoy and re-rejuvenate. My favorite thing to do is just to sit and take in the spectacular view and soothing sounds of the creek. If we felt like hitting the beach we drive into Santa Cruz.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Loved the wood burning stove and the river just below the back deck. A chasing little retreat in the redwoods.
This past weekend (Jan. 23-25, 2015), I stayed here with my mom. The cottage was slightly difficult to find in the dark, but once the sun rose the next day we could take in the full beauty of the redwoods, birds, and creek. Inside you find a humble loft setting. There is a queen bed upstairs with a bathroom sink/mirror and private toilet. Downstairs there is a twin bed and full bathroom with shower. If you were to stay with many guests, it is nice that both toilets and well as the shower are each private. The sofas also look as though they can collapse into beds. There is a full kitchen with appliances and necessary dishware. The back deck has a small trail which goes down to the creek.
We went to Roaring Camp for the train through the redwoods, which is only 3.5 miles away. We spent a little time in the town of Felton and found outstanding coffee at the White Raven.
Even though you are only 10-minutes from the main town, we still felt extremely secluded in the redwoods and made a fire each night. On our last day my mom began to sketch the redwoods in the backyard. We also read one of my father's recent chapters in his new book. If you are an artist in need for a mini-retreat or you have a small family and/or partner and need to get away; this is the cottage for you.
In addition to the lovely property, the owners are fantastic. When we had one question, we simply sent a text to the owner and received a quick response. The owners are very responsive and tend to the property well.
Very inspiring property. We left Felton with the feelings of healing and love. Thank you for sharing this property with others. We hope to stay again in the future.

Families with Young Children,
The owners took a space that was not unique and made it just that. You're surrounded by neighbors yet it feels so private. The deck has a magical feel with its foliage, redwoods, and creek. The inside has a cabin feel to it but the sleeping is comfortable and everything works. We had rain while we were there and it is a great place to be when it rains. The noise, the smell, the visuals, all added to the weather. We need to be up in that neck of the woods often so we will hope to stay here again.
The location of this cottage on the creek is perfect. You feel like you are in the forest when you wake up and the A frame design feels surprisingly spacious. I did not find the property dusty or unclean at all. The kitchen is a bit on the sparse side for cooking full meals, but that didn't count against the rating for me because of the very fair lodging price.

Cottage needs some attention and it was dustier than i like. It is close to many attractions and it was nice being by the creek. Cowboy restaurant in Felton was a fun place to eat(cornbread is yummy).

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. We have had a change in housekeeping personnel. If you had mentioned this during your stay I would have requested them to go back and clean the dust. I have now advised them to pay closer attention to their cleaning routine. Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.
We were very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness in the cottage. It was dusty, there were cobwebs everywhere, there was dust and hair under the beds, and the kitchen was not maintained. The kitchen sponge left for us to use was old and smelled of mildew. The best part about the cottage was the creek in the backyard, although the path to the creek was not maintained and you had to dodge trees and bushes to get to it. The property is essentially one room (no walls) and every sound could be heard throughout the house. The property could be better if it was properly cleaned and the kitchen was better stocked with newer/cleaner things. I hated using the filthy cookie sheet for cooking, and there was no foil to line it.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. We have had a change in housekeeping personnel. If I was made aware of the situation when you had called with a question on how to operate the TV, I would have requested housekeeping to return the same day and address all of the issues. Since your review I have provided them your feedback.
What a unique experience, especially the beautiful view in the redwoods off the deck and through the entire wall of windows with the creek bubbling below. Very private. Cynthia was available and helpful at solving our issue. Kitchen worked and is well stocked with dishes, appliances, utensils, etc. We're planning to visit again. Swimming pool nearby at Trout Farm Inn for $7.
