Boston is a city filled with history and culture and features some of the most world renowed hospitals and institutions of higher learning. Our waterfront is busy and beautiful! Boston is often refered to as a 'walkable city' getting you to sites by either foot, train, trolley or subway. The cape and islands are either a short drive, ferry ride or bus ride away. One of our favorites is Martha's vineyard. Maine is an hour away and the outlets in either NH or MA are 45-60 minutes by car. A lot of our visitors like to tour Salem and check out the witch museum and harbor. For the children and adults the Children's Museum, Aquarium and Science Museums are a must!
You have the opportunity to purchase discount tickets to local area attractions. Just ask Cyndi! We also provide Charlie Cards for your first trip on the bus or train. Just replenish what you use for the next guest to get started.
Thank you for sharing your home with us while Todd worked in Boston briefly. I got to explore the community while he, unfortunately, had to work. The pellet stove and hot tub were perfect during this cold and snowy winter!
Sorry we never got to meet you Cnydi and Jon but Chris was a great host in your absence. He was quick to respond to my blow dryer need, even going to the neighbor's house to find one.
We love the walkability of Roslindale and met many kind people during our short time here. You have some great restaurants in the village with a range of cuisines.
I especially appreciated several store clerks commenting on my accent! I never knew the Midwest had an accent! Loved the Irish Pubs.
This apartment was absolutely perfect for our fall foliage/New England vacation. We loved the location-on a quiet street in a lovely neighborhood, with easy parking in front of house and quick access to public transportation when we wanted to explore Boston. It was also perfectly situated for our New England tour of Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine. The apartment was very comfortable, with everything we needed for our 2 week stay. John and Cyndi were very helpful hosts, even providing us with transportation to and from the airport for a nominal fee. The kitchenette came in handy for a quick breakfast or a simple meal, and we really appreciated having access to the washer and dryer. We hope to return to the Boston area soon and would definitely stay here again! Thanks John and Cyndi!
We had a good time in Boston, the flat was clean, well presented and well equipped. The terrace and garden were lovely. Owners friendly and helpful. The day at the Museum of Fine Arts was a highlight. Pick-up from airport useful. UK travellers would consider it Studio accommodation, as there is no separate bedroom. Unfortunately the local bus to shops and Train services was infrequent and unreliable.
We were in Boston for 4 days and John and Cyndi's lovely get-away was just perfect! The room had everything we could ever need: fully stocked kitchen, sitting area, information about attractions and restaurants in Boston and in Rosindale, comfortable bed, ample "extras" in the bathroom (soaps, lotions, hair dryer). Even has washer and dryer if you need to do your laundry!
We had a car, so we drove to the "T" everyday and went into Boston. Easy to get around Rosindale (although having a GPS is pretty essential!) and we ended up returning to our little apartment at the end of each day and having dinner close by, rather than in Boston. Plenty of good restaurants close to John and Cyndi's.
John and Cyndi could not have been kinder hosts. We would recommend this location without reservation!
We loved our cozy basement sanctuary! It had all the necessary amenities, plus some extras! We used the hot tub every night after a long day out exploring Boston. It was a great location if you have a car as well as parking is free on the street so we left our car and explored by transit. Cynthia and John were great hosts, explaining everything clearly and helping us when we couldn't figure out the pellet stove! (Thanks John)! They went above and beyond, providing tons of tourist information and even leaving us "Charlie cards" for transit with a free ride on them! The bed was super comfy and with the fire going it felt like we were at a little cottage! I would highly recommend staying with Cynthia and John - take extra note of all the beautiful artwork on the walls....John is one heckuva talented fella!
This was a clean and comfortable VRBO. It has a kitchenette with micro and hot plate for cooking and all the amenities of a full kitchen. The apartment is a 3-minute walk to the bus stop; then, a 10-minute ride to Forrest Hills METRO station from where a 15-minute ride puts you in the heart of downtown Boston. The house is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood and there is ample road parking available. The unit is cozy, it has excellent TV coverage, and there is a washer and dryer available if needed. We found this VRBO to be nicely situated for touring Boston via public transportation and for touring other areas by car. There are a number of restaurants available in nearby Roslindale town and adequate markets are also close by. John and Cynthia are excellent and friendly hosts. They assured our comfort and provided us with a wealth of information. We recommend this VRBO to couples or couples with one or two small children. We would return on a future trip to Boston.
We had a great stay here this week. It was the perfect centre for our US university tour, when we visited MIT, Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth in a week.
The apartment was the perfect place to relax in between the admissions tours, with really comfy beds and everything we needed - there were even plastic bags so we could take a packed lunch with us one day!
Sorry we didn't have the chance to visit the museums and art galleries this time but we hope we'll be back soon.
Thank you Cyndi and John for a great stay and for all your help finding our way round US culture - and especially for your patience when our plane was so delayed.
Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Boating, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Miniature golf
Golf: We are about a 10 minute walk to the George Wright Golf Course. It was designed by Donald Ross in 1938 and is well maintained by the City. It was named Best Municipal Course in MA and 14th best in the US according to Golf Digest. In 2009 it was the MGA ameturer qualifying site.
Ski: The Blue Hill Mountains, the highest point in Boston not only offers great hiking trails but also skiing and snow boarding. It is a 15 minute drive to this wonderful area. When we don't have snow in the winter they make it. You can see some of the slopes from our home and see them making the snow.
