Sapphire Beach is the most beautiful beach in the Caribbean.
The condo was absolutely beautiful and had so many upgrades. The king bed was so comfortable! The bathroom has double sinks and the tile work was amazing. As a matter of fact, I took pictures of it because I want to renovate my bathroom at home, and do something similiar with the tile! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook in.
Sapphire Beach is the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Snorkeling was wonderful! We saw sea turtles & sting rays along with tons of angle fish! We fed the fish & they ate right out of our hands!
We loved the condo & can't wait to come back!
This condo was fantastic! Great service from the property management company, beautifully decorated (kitchen and bathroom have been renovated), and kept up well. I believe this property welcomes adults only, which is probably why it was in such good shape. We rented three condos for a family event, so my parents (no kids) stayed in this one. Snorkeling gear was in a drawer for us to use, which was great because Sapphire Beach is a prime location for snorkeling on St. Thomas. The big bonus of this condo is that it's a first-floor unit with direct access to the beach. Furthermore, the beach is not crowded and the resort is quite safe. Pool included, a small cabana for breakfast and lunch (good food), and amazing water and views. Loved it! Try renting jetskis in the marina on site--the owner/operator is great! Red Hook is a short drive (or bus ride) away. We had rental cars for shopping and getting around the island, but be forewarned--if you arrive at night and aren't familiar with St. Thomas (they drive on the left and roads are very narrow, steep, and curvy), take a cab to the resort and rent a car the next day. I will totally go back to Sapphire Beach!!
I can't say enough good things about our trip and our experience here. The condo was great and in good condition. It is in such a prime location! This was our first trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and it won't be our last. Our objectives were to relax, have fun in the water and eat good food:) We had originally wanted to explore St John and maybe the B.V.I as well but we had everything we needed here at Sapphire Beach. We love the accessibility of being able to rent snorkel gear, kayaks, paddle boards and other. We are not ones who can spend a whole day laying on the beach so it was great to be able to feel the air conditioner intermittently and in between our fun in the sun. We were able to see turtles, rays and fish here. So glad we found this condo!!
We do have one suggestion: replace the mattress on the bed. It is as hard as a rock and completely uncomfortable.
Suggestion for those who have never been to the Virgin Islands or from what we've heard any Caribbean Island: Bring OFF as well as sunscreen. My husband got eaten alive but I only got one bite. Apparently he was tastier:)
The condo and beach looked just the pictures. We loved the first floor views, having the place for chairs/snorkles/etc out our door was fine. Didn't really block anything. Great trees for shade and several large iguanas around. We really didn't see much snorkeling. Kept getting yelled at to stay off the coral as I wasn't on the coral. Finally understood the guard meant swim around the coral! The condo was great for 2 people, but we had 4. The pull out couch was horrible to sleep on, thin and noisy. We put the cushions on the floor and slept much better. We were only there from late wed to early sat, so we planned on eating out and exploring every day. However I was not as comfortable with driving on the left with the many hills and turns - so we kept close. We drove to red hook and had dinner at a irish bar. Was going to duffy's, but parked in the lot on the opposite side and was told that we'd have to move if we wanted duffy's. No way was I moving that car again. After dinner the guard said we could go to duffy's now. The music sounded fun, but I couldn't drink and drive so we went home! Had dinner at Iggy's, bolongo bay on wed night. It was buffet night and it was horrible and $ 38. That included entertainment that was fun. You need a car as you can't walk around the island and cabs are expensive. There is a local cheap bus that takes you everywhere but you have to walk up a LONG HILL to get to the top of Sapphire Beach.
Definitely look for the pool, especially if cruise ships are in port. One came in on a day it was not expected and there were people everywhere! We were there in low season, so the pool bar was closed and they were remodeling the building by the pool. It was loud, but didn't bother us.
For me, It was great to go once, I might go back to this condo if there was only 2 of us, but then there are so many more places to explore. If St Thomas is a island you want to explore, you need at least a week, a car and then SB is a good place to stay.
This place was nice but have a few hiccups with our stay:
First, the smell - it's moldy/musty. The couches are awful, sitting on them makes your clothes smell like mildew.
The weather was nice, but we still lost power 2 different days and lost water another day.
Our AC stopped working on our 2nd or 3rd day which made sleeping miserable.
Sonja was great and was very attentive. She helped get our AC issued fixed the following morning.
Overall, pretty good. I wish I would have known some of these issues ahead of time.
This place is so awesome! Beautiful ocean views and a relaxing atmosphere. It was exactly what we needed. The condo was just as described and very clean. We loved the fact that it was beach level. We spent most of our time just relaxing on the patio, taking in the view, walking up and down the beach and visiting with our neighbors. We met some really great people and joined them for karaoke at Sugar Bay Resort. It was fun! Red Hook is just minutes away and we really loved Duffy's Love Shack! We took a day trip over to St. John to do a little exploring and saw some breathtaking views! I highly recommend this place to anyone! Can't wait to visit again!
Extremely happy with our first trip to St.Thomas and our stay in this unit!!! Everything in the unit was just as described and pictures were absolutely accurate :) Sonja and Eddie were amazing, helpful, and extremely friendly - they are the gems that come along with the unit :) we had a last minute booking that worked out for us and the owners and Kim was very accommodating to make everything work out well for all parties. The 25-30 steps to the water is better then any view from a 2nd or 3rd floor unit, as the experience is unlike anything else. The dive shop is very close and when the cruise ships come in the tourists flock to sapphire beach and its busy, but don't let that deter you as the other bldgs further away although quieter have worse of a beach, we would still pick bldg A as only tues and wed are huge cruise ship days and the remaining days are quiet and relaxing...taxis do add up but little secret from Sonja and Eddie, go up to the top of the hill and wait for a red safari bus that is the local transportation it's $1pp to get to Kmart and plaza extra (groceries) and $2pp to get downtown versus the $10+pp plus tip for taxis each way...last recommendation for travelers - try not to wear many scented perfumes or lotions as the mosquitos on the island are evil and love tourist blood :) There are 2 places to eat within walking distance of condo, but I would def recommend going up the hill to a food truck called Off the Grid - amazing meat and very reasonable - they are closed tues and wed only. thanks again for wonderful accommodations, we would absolutely book again - Regina & Andrew
Located on the east end of St. Thomas, Sapphire Beach offers a half mile of white sandy beaches with crystal clear water. Red Hook, the small town located 1/2 mile from Sapphire Beach, offers many restaurants, grocery store and shops.
