This is not your typical rental house. This three-bedroom, two-bath, 3,200 square foot home is on the water in Crystal River and has a one-car garage. It is the personal second home of Douglas & Sherri Brown, executives in the publishing industry. When the home is not rented, it is used by the owners and their two golden retrievers.
Inside you will find the house is loaded with top-notch furniture, artwork, appliances, bedding, towels, dishes, and accessories. The kitchen is stocked with all the amenities needed to enjoy a relaxing waterfront meal. The master bedroom has a king bed and its own bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and in the third bedroom there is a day bed. There is also another full bathroom located in the hallway. The entire floor is professionally tiled in hand-selected Mexican tile. Imported sinks in the bathrooms and specialty hardware from Mexico adorn the rooms, resulting in an exotic, Spanish-style feel. There are two new flat-screen TVs with DVD players. The living room TV has surround sound and is hooked up to outside speakers for music channels to play outside.
For your convenience, we also provide free cable with music, wireless Internet, and long distance calling. We have also installed a reverse osmosis water purification system and there is a high-efficiency washer and dryer available for you to use. Linens, towels and paper products are provided for your use.
This stunning, pet-friendly waterfront home is located on a deep canal with direct Gulf access. There is a 28-foot floating dock with dock whips, electrical outlets and fresh water. The back yard features extensive decks with seating to enjoy the beauty of the river and wildlife. The screened in private patio has a propane BBQ grill, heated swim spa and lap pool, outside shower, and ample seating. We have two kayaks and a gas-fired cooker for frying fish or doing a Low Country boil. The patio is screened with a special fine mesh to help keep even the smallest bug out. The home is approximately 20 minutes from King’s Bay and 30 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico by boat.
Crystal River has activities for the whole family, including world-class flats fishing for red fish, trout, Spanish mackerel, cobia, and tarpon. Crystal River offers one of the few remaining areas to scallop in Florida during the summer. You can catch freshwater bass and trap blue crabs off the dock, or look for manatees and dolphins. Offshore, there is terrific shallow and deepwater grouper fishing.
Within a short drive, there is a mall with a multiplex movie theater, restaurants and shopping in historic downtown Crystal River, kayaking, Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, walking and bike trails, scuba diving, and swimming with the manatees. The house is only a short walk from the Crystal River Archeological Museum and surrounded by the Crystal River State Park Buffer Reserve. Plan a day trip to any of the nine state parks within 50 miles or work on your back swing at one of the 12 nearby golf courses. You will make memories to last a lifetime here!

Sherri and I live in Ocala, a short 45-minute drive to Crystal River. We really enjoy the small-town feeling in Crystal River and the natural setting along the beautiful Gulf Coast. Crystal River has the very unique combination of the fresh water bay and springs and the Gulf of Mexico just a short distance away. Our house is perfectly situated halfway between the two. You won't find any high-rise condos here in one of the last remaining natural areas of Florida. Yet Crystal River offers all the modern conveniences of shopping, restaurants, supermarkets, movie theatres, a mall, unique shops in the historic district, and more. It has it all.
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
We chose Crystal River because we loved coming here for many years before we could get our own place. It is always a thrill to watch the manatees, dolphins, pelicans, and eagles no matter how many times we have seen them. There is nothing to compare to the fishing and boating in the area, and in the summer, it is one of the last places in Florida where you can catch live scallops. We hope you enjoy the 'Nature Coast' area as much as we do.
Sherri and I have stayed in many fine hotels and luxury vacation rentals over the years. At one point, we started to make a list of our likes and dislikes. We designed and remodeled with those ideas in mind. For example, we furnished the house with top-quality beds, mattresses, sheets, comforters, and furniture. And not furniture from a garage sale or thrift store; no, everything is new and in great shape or it is replaced. The kitchen is equipped with all the items you would find in your own kitchen, including quality knives, flatware, appliances, plates, wine glasses, napkins, towels, pots and pans, soap, detergent, and spices — everything you would need. There is a washer and dryer, irons, an ironing board, and bathroom supplies if you forget something. We do not want you running to the store; we want you to enjoy yourselves and come back for many years. You can reach Crystal, our property manager, toll-free at 352-622-1825, and she will assist you in any way possible.
First trip for these neighbors/friends together. Lots of fun. The house was perfect for our needs, decorated with beach/nautical whimsey. Felt like we were visiting a friends house. Thank you! Can't wait to come back!
I have just returned from Casa del Rio. My husband and I spent Thanksgiving here at this beautiful home and it was everything that we could ask for. The home was exactly what we wanted and a lot more. We enjoyed just doing a lot of relaxing and we entertained our friends that live in the area for Thanksgiving day. I just want to thank Doug and Sherri for all the hard work they have done in this home to make it so comfortable and beautiful. We did not have any problems with anything and everything was perfect. Thanks again so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
We enjoyed your home and had a wonderful time. It was nice to be able to bring our dog and my son's dog. This way we were able to relax and not worry about the pets being left behind. After all they are part of the family. The weather was great, caught several fish and had the best time scalloping. It's the first time ever we caught our limit in scallops. Hope to return again next year.
Our family rented Casa Del Rio for an entire month and it was money and time well spent! Upon arrival we were greeted with fresh flowers and a basket of fresh fruit, but the hospitality did not end there. We found that our every need was met whether it was a certain cooking spice or just plenty of paper towels and toilet tissue. The house has a very casual feel, but full of high quality furnishings and linens. The outdoor space was amazing as well and we spent almost as much time outdoors as we did indoors. Our month at Casa Del Rio will go down as one of our best vacations of all time.
