Great for a family!
Our family of four (me, my wife and two teen age boys) really enjoyed our stay at Eagle's Rest. All of us had a fantastic vacation there.
The pond in front is nice, the living quarters are clean and comfortable. It really feels like a home. The transaction was very smooth, and the place was well appointed for cooking and lounging around.
The property is park-like and very quiet. There are neighbors, but you can't see them from the house. We arrived at night, and my GPS didn't quite get it right, but close enough to figure it out eventually.
This is a great vacation cottage. It's not the Ritz Carleton, but it is a much better value than any comparable hotel room, especially for a family.
I did have a few minor issues, but not enough to take away any stars:
It was pretty warm this summer so the upstairs was a bit uncomfortable without A/C, but the lower floor A/C was fine. Also, internet access is pretty slow, and I had to go into town to use McDonald's wi-fi to do some work. Also, no mobile phone reception on AT&T. My job requires me to check in at least daily, even when on vacation.
The outdoor gas grill was unusable, and we would have liked to grill outside a couple of nights.
The kids ended up sleeping on air mattresses downstairs, because the upstairs beds were too short for them, and it was cooler downstairs. They are both almost 6', and the two non-master bedrooms are really for smaller people. The standard king bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable and cozy, but the other bedrooms are not really suitable to grown-up sized people.
