Photos and Description of the Berlin-Mitte vacation apartment rental

This is a newly reconstructed loft apartment in the roof of a historical company building located in Tiergarten in the district Mitte in the city centre of Berlin, not far away from the Parliament building and Ministry of State. The building is situated in a quiet green court yard. In the late 60's this building got a lot of publicity because the people of the so called “Kommune 1” who revolted against the establishment stayed in this building. The “Kommune 1” stands for the liberation of sex much like the Hippy movement in the United States. Some of the famous tenants were Fritz Teufel, Dieter Kunzelmann, Rainer Langhans, Uschi Obermeier und Ulrich Enzensberger. We have gathered some literature related to this historical period. The apartment is equipped with a free high-speed internet network, cordless phones, satellite TV, DVD, video, a high class hi-fi system and many other useful electrical appliances.

The apartment is located in the North of the Tiergarten Park in the city centre, close to the inner city airport Tegel and the political city centre around the Reichstag building. There are very good public traffic connections and short distances to the historical and cultural city centre.

Guests Comments: Berlin apartment. We just came back from Berlin and rented an amazing apartment in the heart of the city (walking distance to an S-bahn stop). It's a renovated, New York style 'loft' with 2 separate bedrooms, a very large bathroom with washing machine (very handy, and no extra charge), and a large living room/ dining area/ kitchen open space. The place was lovingly renovated by the English-speaking German couple who live downstairs. It had a gourmet kitchen complete with dishwasher, m-wave, expresso maker, top of the line appliances, fully stocked dishes, etc (better than my home kitchen!). They even gave us a bottle of wine when we arrived! The apt also features a computer with free internet/email access, satellite TV, and stereo.

Guests Comments continued: We had our 2 teens with us, and it gave us plenty of room to spread out and relax in a very busy city. The rate was a bargain (about $125 a night all-inclusive, min. of 3 night stay). We wished we were there longer. Would definitely return. Tell the owner Carolyn M from the USA recommended them. The only downside is that it's a 4th floor walk-up, no elevator, so not appropriate for everyone. Pack light- you'll be carrying your bags (and groceries) upstairs. This is a lovely loft a partment with a kitchen I wish I had at home. there is every thing you would need in it and the Spar is a very short walk away. The upside to a fourth floor apartment is that it is great exercise and there is also recyling bins which I like to see, The apartment is verybright and clean and very comfortable. It is close to bus stop and about a short walk to the subway. There are some nice restaurants near by and we found Berlin a great place to visit and would definitely recomend this city and this apartment.

THE BEST

We stayed here 22/01/08 - 26/01/08 and cannot not recommend this apartment enough, the quality of the accommodation is exceptional !!
LOCATION
If you are concerned about staying in a residential area....don't be!
The apartment is in Stephanstrasse which is only a few mins walk from Birkenstrasse UBhan which is just three stops from Zoo Station which is a major interchange. The Berlin underground is fast and efficient & we were surprised how quickly & easily we could get to places of interest.
LOCAL FACILITIES
Bakers, Supermarkets, restaurants, playground and a couple of bars all within 3 - 4 mins walk. We recommend Dicker Engel right next to Birkenstrasse UBahn for traditional German food (ask for the English menu).
THE APARTMENT
Located on the top floor of a 4 storey building ( 4 flights of stairs so not good for anyone with mobility problems) the apartment (apmnt) is BIG. A large living area with sofa and chairs, TV (only the news channels are in English) DVd and Internet, a dinig area with a wonderfully rustic dining table seating 8 and the kitchen area running along the back wall. The Kitchen area is VERY well equipped & I can't think of anything that you would need that wasn't provided.
The bathroom is large and the bath and shower are excellent with plenty of hot water.
There are two bedrooms with very comfortable double beds
The apmnt was spotlessly clean, very warm and comfortable, exceptionally well equiped and, not being directly on a street, nice and quiet and if this isn't enough it also has a lot of history from the "commune" period of Berlin.
The owner, Stephan, was freindly & approachable, speaks good English & was even kind enough to book us a taxi for the airport on our return.
Berlin is a great place to visit, don't miss the Zoo, the Olympic stadium (take the audio tour) & the food hall of the KaDeWa department store & if you want a really great place to stay then choose Stephans attic loft apartment as I don't you'll find better accomodation for the price anywhere in Berlin.

Wir waren mit 4 Erw. und 3 Kindern hier und haben uns rundherum wohlgefühlt. Sehr ruhige Lage. (kein Verkehr hörbar). Es ist alles vorhanden, was man benötigt. Zur U-Bahn 10 Gehminuten, dann 3 Stationen bis Zoologischer Garten, also sehr zentral. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Super tolle Wohnung

Man kann diese Wohnung nur empfehlen.
Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt.
Es war alles, was man sich in einer Ferienwohnung wünschen kann, vorhanden. Sie war mindestens so schön wie in der Beschreibung.
Mit der U-Bahn bzw. dem Bus waren wir schnell am zoologischen Garten bzw. am Hauptbahnhof. Sie liegt sehr zentral.
Und trotz der vielen Anwohnern war es sehr ruhig und erholsam für uns. So konnten wir uns richtig gut erholen für unsere neuen Entdeckungstouren in Berlin.

Wir waren zu fünf Personen (3 Erw., 2 Kinder (9 + 12). Die Unterkunft ist perfekt ausgestattet, liegt zentral, so dass man auch ohne Auto ohne Probleme überall hinkommt.

Alles, was man auf den Fotos sieht, entspricht der Realität. Die Wohnung war in einem einwandfreien Zustand. Man merkt sofort, dass sich hier viel Mühe gegeben wird, den Gästen den Aufenthalt so schön wie möglich zu machen!

Der Vermieter hat uns empfangen, uns alles gezeigt und noch Tipps zum Einkaufen und Essen gegeben. Supi!
Auch vorher war der Kontakt bei Fragen, die wir vor der Buchung bzw. bei der Vorbereitung der Reise hatten, sofort da und alle Fragen wurden geklärt.

Das Restaurant Arema können wir sehr empfehlen. Rustikal, aber gemütlich und mitten im Leben.

Ich würde die Wohnung jederzeit jedem empfehlen!

(Ich sollte die Wohnung und das Umfeld eigentlich nicht so loben, da ich so unsere Chancen schmälere, die Wohnung wieder mieten zu können, aber es wäre eine Unverschämtheit, unehrlich zu sein!!)
