Come and see how it feels to live for a while ''la Dolce Vita''...!!!
We were a family of 6 adults who stayed here for 2 weeks. We are not overly fussy but I feel it necessary to let the owner Gary know our experience. The overall appearance of the villa is that it definitely needs work. We had a major issue with the fridge as it stopped working completely and a repair man had to be called in. The property manager Natasha was very quick in getting someone in. He temporarily fixed it and then came back the next day to put in a new part but unfortunately the fridge stopped working again a couple days before we left. We left Natasha a message but didn't hear back from her before we left. We also had major issues with the cleanliness of the pool. We called Natasha and she had the pool cleaned for us right away but a couple days later it went really dark green again and definitely not useable. Also we had trouble with the AC in the main bedroom but didn't report it. The villa definitely had plenty of linens and towels and we did have a cleaning lady come in twice. The view is SPECTACULAR which helped with the issues we had with the house. The issues with the house did not in any way hinder us from having an amazing vacation but felt the owner Gary should know about them.
I stayed with a group of 10 (including one baby) at La Dolce Vita (now called Wit's End) around Christmas and New Years 2014/15. The house is lovely, with a fabulous deck, pool and view over a small bay. However, the furniture and kitchen (pots and pans) could use a good cleaning (or be replaced),the cleaner only came once and didn't do much -- a good idea to take the garbage yourself to the dumpster at the entrance of the neighborhood, which we only discovered as we were leaving. We arrived on Christmas day and were not met by the property manager and had to call her a number of times to get information-- such as using the washing machine, amenities in the area, using taxis etc. She never showed up to introduce to the house or area. We also weren't prepared for the fact that you do need a car to get just about anywhere as even to the beach nearby there is no sidewalk so if you want to walk it will be on the side of a busy road. Taxi's are available, but you need to call them in advance (sometimes the day before) and they are not cheap -- at least $4 per person per trip, which for our group of 10 got expensive quickly. In all, we had a good time but could have used a bit more information!
Excellent value. Except for the steep flight of steps leading from the bedroom level to the living area level, this villa was a great choice
of accommodation for us. Five adults needed a place where we could relax, prepare and enjoy our meals, and be close to Philipsburg. We got that here, with a spectacular view included. The configuration of the bedrooms is not as stated on this site, however the owner Gary will provide the correct breakdown. We didn't use the 4th bedroom, which is attached to the villa, but has a separate entrance that opened to the front visible from the street, as opposed to rear opening accessing the kitchen if total property was being utilized by one family.
Villa was more than large enough for the 5 of us.
Pros: More than enough towels, both bath and beach. Spacious stocked kitchen including dishwasher. Washer and dryer. Comfortable beds. Air conditioning worked well. The sun was hot enough so the pool wasn't cold.
Cons: Tiles in bathrooms are really really slippery. Don't know if that was caused by moisture or whatever was used to clean. Despite a mat being on the floor, one of the ladies took a nasty tumble.
The DVD player hooked up to the surround sound system worked well for music, however DVDs show in black&white. New cables/hookup needed.
Since the furniture is dark colored, it attracts mosquitoes. Don't forget your bug repellant. The price of rental includes 1 visit from a cleaning lady and a pool attendant. Neither showed up to clean anything. I spoke to the property manager twice who promised that a cleaning lady would come by. On Friday I gave up on seeing her. We were leaving the next day anyway. We kept the place clean, however the garbage was overflowing the outside can and reeking because of the shrimp shells in the bags. Villa needs to have a phone available just for local calls so folks don't have to pay roaming charges on their foreign accounts.
All in all, this is a good place to hang out for a week or so. A car is necessary though because exploring the French side is a must. The directions from the airport to the villa that the owner gave me were easy and precise. Supermarkets close by for all your needs.
Casinos and beach close by on Front Street in Philipsburg.
Just got back from a fabulous week at La Dolce Vita. The view you see in the promo for this villa is exactly what you see. It is well equipped and my favorite thing was having breakfast on the terrace while I watched the humming birds come to the railing. Awesome.
You do need a car to get around, but the location is great for seeing the island. There were 10 of us and I loved the upstairs area to hang out in. It was open and spacious. The owner Gary could not be more accommodating and kind. We were met at the airport and were given lots of info about the home and things to do. Wifi was not a problem and having a washer and dryer was a plus. But I must admit, a sarong and bathing suit was our dress code. Thank you Gary for making my husband's birthday one we will not forget.
The villa was beautiful - very clean and very well equipped. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the veranda where the views of the ocean were just spectacular. The pool is a nice plus - especially for dips in the evening and after ocean swimming.
The villa is nicely situated - the neighborhood is very quiet but you are close to Philipsburg and not far from the airport where there is abundant night life and hustle and bustle if you like that sort of thing.
All in all, this is a great place to stay while you are in St. Maarten. This was my family's first trip to the island and we had a wonderful time! Gary was also very easy to work with and very accommodating.
This is a wonderful villa overlooking Bel-Air beach. Close enough to Philipsburgh for convenience but you don't see any of the hustle-bustle from the villa. The private pool is a great way to spend the final part of the afternoon after a day at the beach. Great kitchen and indoor-outdoor livivng area and it's an easy drive to Orient Beach. Owner is a very nice guy.
Very private in a luxurious residential area, minutes from the Little Bay beach and the famous Divi Resort beach.
Drive 5 min to shopping and casinos in Phillipsburg, 15 min to excellent French restaurants and marina of Marigot.
