This is one of our most popular offerings!
This spectacular townhouse located on the Senate side of Capitol Hill is a pleasant ten minute walk to Union Station (Amtrak, Metro, Circulator Bus & shopping), the US Capitol, the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress. Historic Eastern Market, with a multitude of shopping and dining options, is also a 10 minute walk through this charming neighborhood of late 19th century row houses and parks.
The property is beautifully appointed and professionally decorated by one of Washington DC's most talented design stars! It has a decidedly European flair, mixing elegant antiques with modern furniture.
The main floor has a wonderful South facing living room with fireplace and dining area. There is an elegant powder Room with mirrored vanity and marble floors.
The kitchen is located at the rear of the house and has an eating area as well as a breakfast bar. This overlooks a Charming City garden.
The master bedroom on the second floor has a king size bed, floor to ceiling French Doors with a small Juliet Balcony overlooking the garden. Beautiful custom made closets flank the French Doors, and the master bath has an over-sized marble tub.
The second bedroom has a queen bed with a pull out sofa. A beautiful recently installed bathroom with shower and dual shower heads...
This one is a show stopper!
The light and airy south-facing salon features tall ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, wood floors and elegant appointments including a seating area with television and a library/dining table. Hi I'm Cliff Palermo. My family and I love providing great places for travelers to call home, while away from home since 2011.
Cliff Palermo purchased this townhome in 2011
This location is full of History and is at the seat of world power. It allows easy access to the great historical sights of Washington as well as the business center.
This particular property provides a wonderful experience for someone that really wants to experience a Washington neighborhood and a decidedly American way of life. Many people have stayed at this property from around the world and have been charmed by the special jewel that it is.The back yard provides a wonderful setting to unwind after a long day of sightseeing or work!
My husband and two kids (ages 9, 10) stayed here for spring break. Great place to relax after long touring days. Very doable walk to Metro and Eastern Market- many restaurants near. Plenty of room, large kitchen very well appointed- to those who say the stuff is worn- so what? Nothing was in disrepair or unusable; very user friendly. Nice back yard- weather did not permit us to use the grill- otherwise we would have! Parking in front with permit not an issue, plenty of space- just be aware of when to move your vehicle for street cleaning.
Bedrooms were very nice size- shower was wonderful, jacuzzi tub in the master with hand spray also nice for relaxing- no issues. Many towels and linens- all nice. Lots of room to place your belongings/cosmetics etc. Not sure who left the toilet paper comment but it was fine....again, no bathroom issues! Clean and nice.
Few issues: I would get with the cleaning peeps- very dusty but only on the perimeters of the rooms/floor board moldings (and stairs not vacuumed); found socks and other 'trinkets' under dressers and beds from previous guests- no sweeping under beds is evident- not a deal breaker by any means, but the moth balls work-several carcasses around due to not being swept up! Hood over stove had a previous message of "clean me" traced into it from a previous guest? ...I think just review with them how to do a solid "power clean" would suffice.
In other rentals we have used in the past, many times there is a binder or other info left regarding recommendations for restaurants, taxi #, grocery, getting around tips, t.v. channel/cable guide etc...but again, really not an issue if you have a computer- wifi works well!!
Overall this is a great place to stay- very lovely townhouse and great location, definitely would recommend it for families and would stay here again.
I had to travel to Washington DC for business and my family came along. This apartment was perfect for our needs, with two large bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. My toddler son loved the garden and played in the pebbles while we enjoyed drinks and appetizers outside. The apartment was a short walk to the Capitol and Union Station. There were kid-friendly and reasonably priced restaurants nearby, though the apartment kitchen was fully equipped. If you're traveling with small children, I fully recommend this place!
What better review can I give, than "We'll be back!". Seriously, because we found this home we plan to return to DC in the future. The location could not be better. We traveled with our two small children and there was a park with playground within a 5 minute walk. Our 6 year old still talks about the friends he made there. One day we hired a babysitter and my husband and I rented bikes at Capitol Bikeshare (the best way to see DC). There is a station one block over from the house. Also we planned a Capitol Tour and walked to our appointment in less than 10 minutes. You cannot beat the location and quality of the neighborhood. The house was spacious and well-appointed. Parking in front was never a problem. The patio door took some jiggling to lock properly, but once we figured it out it was a piece of cake. Cliff was a joy to work with and immediately answered the phone to answer a question we had. We've rented a lot through VRBO and this was one of our favorite places so far!
We stayed in this property for 3 nights.
1) It's an excellent location on capitol hill and as I learnt in million dollar neighborhood. There is a park right in front. Loved it. 5 star for this.
2) I's bit far if you want to walk to US Capitol, and train station. We ended up calling yellow cab which only charged just under $10.
3) Townhome itself has plenty of space including a small backyard. There are actually 2.5 bath. However as adverstised, one bath has tub and no standing shower but other one has standing shower. Apart from hand soap, there were no other toliteries in the bathroom - may be it's expected in vacation rental. 4 Star for this.
3) It's rated as luxury but linen, towels, utensils in the kitchen, and some furniture were no way close to luxury. Who does chocolate/brown towels? Cooking PANs in kitchen are showing signs of long aging. Compare this with luxury 4 or 5 star hotels and it's linen etc. 3 to 3.5 star for this.
Overall we loved that stay. We loved the location, closeby park, and convenience of kitchen.
Great location for DC sightseeing. Walking distance to main attractions. Great neighborhood restaurants. Townhouse comfortable, clean and quiet.
Excellent unit, great location, handsomely decorated, thoughtfully and thoroughly furnished.
"Paris on Capitol Hill" is everything it represents itself to be, plus some. Access to metros and bus lines make a stay sans car doable, but having wheels was a plus for exploring the city. Once we secured the Zone 6 guest permit, parking was not a problem.
Living spaces are attractive and functional, bedrooms spacious, special touches in bathrooms.
This is one "gourmet kitchen" that lives up to that billing. Walking to Eastern Market for provisions, then grilling or preparing a memorable meal "at home" -- even entertaining friends (lots of "wow's!" about our "little place in the city") -- were highlights.
And yes, there's a grill in the "city garden" - not clear from the listings - a nice, new-ish, working Weber to delight the heart of grillmeisters. Evening meals and lingering conversations in the garden were extra special.
Minor quibbles: the espresso machine looks great but requires pods (unavailable locally). Walks to either Union Station or E Market metros are pleasant in good weather but just far enough (12-15 mins) to be a hassle in bad weather.
Highly recommended, and worth the slightly higher cost over comparably sized but less-well appointed rental alternatives.
