My favorite place is Asheville where I owned Acorn Cottage B&B. I fell in love with the cozy, unique property that has the best of both worlds: the quiet peacful atmosphere of the mountains, but convenient to town.
It's absolutely amazing how close the house is to everything there is to do in the area, but how quiet it is! You actually feel as if you are miles from town - but you aren't!
I love sitting on the porch listing to the tree frogs and crickets at night. During the winter I enjoy curling up in the recliner chair in front of the fire with a good book and glass of wine.
For a marvelous mountain view, a short walk up Breckinridge Pkwy near the house reveals the magic of the area.
I love the diversity of cuisine in the Asheville & Weaverville area less than a 10 minute drive from the house.
This place was like stepping back in time. We couldn't believe how convenient the house was to everything we wanted to do, yet it felt like we we out in the country. It was private, quiet, neat and clean. Just what we wanted.
Cabin Laurel was wonderful. Four of us stayed for Halloween weekend. It was secluded enough, but with plenty of essentials nearby. We didn't experience any noise like the last poster mentioned. It was quite and calm, with only a few cars passing by each day. A quick 10 minutes to downtown Asheville, and cabs were more than willing to come fetch us here. The house itself is rustic and cozy, with plenty of modern amenities including washer and dryer, dishwasher, and electric fire place. Loved it, and will definitely be staying again!
I will say Laurel Cabin is nice and adequate for what we needed it for. It was a bit noisy, but private. The accommodations including a washer and dryer was nice to have. It was a bit dark inside, but cozy. We didn't have to take anything except our own personal items, and whatever we wanted to eat, everything else was there for our use, everything for the kitchen, fully stocked bath, etc. All in all a very nice relaxing weekend.
Cabin Laurel is tucked away on the side of a high hill but close to restaurants and conveniences. Very private, but the yard around the cabin is very steep. Folks with walking restrictions would find steps, walkways and the driveway a challenge. This is truly a cabin and dark inside with lighting a bit limited.
Over-All, the month we stayed there was a great experience. This is the place to stay if you want seclusion but still be close to activities. You are only 10-15 minutes from anywhere in Ashville.
We stayed at the cabin over the leaf season. We hiked all day and it felt really relaxing to stay at the cabin at the end of the day. We were pleasantly surprised how close it was to restaurants and shops yet it felt like we were far away from the city. The cabin was really clean and well maintained and pretty well stocked. Would definitely recommend to anyone else and will use it the next time we are up there!
We needed a place to stay for three weeks in between the sell of our house in Asheville and closing of new house in nearby Weaverville. We are so happy to have found rustic cabin laurel. It was convenient to highway, but very privately situated on wooded big lot. The beds were very comfortable. Cabin was fully equipped with both kitchen and bath supplies. Furnace kept us plenty warm. The owner was very accommodating when we had to change dates a bit and responded quickly to questions. Our only suggestion would be to get a larger tv for den, as it was rather small. Overall a charming cottage in a great location at a very reasonable price.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for Moogfest and we had a fantastic time. The cottage was the perfect size; small enough to be cozy while providing plenty of room if our friends hadn't bailed on us, not that I'm complaining that they did ; ). It was also rural enough to feel like a country cabin but close to downtown Asheville that the taxi driver had no trouble finding us (they showed up in less than 10 minutes). There was also almost no upkeep expected, just take out the trash! Fantastic time overall, and we definitely plan on returning for a longer trip!
Situated in an established neighborhood built in the 1940s-1950s, Cabin Laurel is just 10-15 minutes to Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, and downtown Asheville and Weaverville for wonderful dining and shopping options.
