Enjoy all the comforts of home ,air-conditioning ,heat pump ,a real fireplace with gas logs and feel the stress melt away. 2 bedrooms with queen beds ,a loft with 2 twin beds, 2 full baths with showers and a jacuzzi tub. Crisp,comfortable sheets and quilts make you feel warm and cozy, along with plush towels to indulge you. The refrigerator is stocked for breakfast with an assortment of scones,coffee cake, butter and jam along with eggs,bacon,english muffins , coffee ,assorted teas and cream . Come away to the mountains and forget to count the days .

About The Owner

I am a retired dental hygienist and chef (French trained),. Some of my favorite things are,traveling cooking, bike riding,hiking,reading,listening to music and spending time with my husband, 2 grown children,and my dogs.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2005
Why The Owner chose Galax

I have lived in this area for 25 yrs. and this property is 5 miles from my home. The area is bucolic and serene. We are nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains. It is a very beautiful area.

What makes this cabin unique

There is a wonderful babbling creek on the property that you can sit on one of the front porch rockers and clearly listen to. It is so peaceful and relaxing. It is a great location for painting or a retreat for writing. There are several walking paths that meander through the woods. It is truly getting back to nature, you can birdwatch ,we have deer and a bunch of wonderful wild turkeys. It is a wonderful feeling of really 'getting away from it all'.

The cabin is located right by Chestnut Creek and we have inner tubes . We have The Galax Old Time Fiddlers Convention here the second week in August at Felts Park ,which is a public park with a pool. We are located 3 miles from the Blue ridge Pkwy. and approx. 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Music Center . We are about 4 miles from the New River trail. We are located about 3 miles outside of Galax city limits. There is a 9 hole public golf course located in the city.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful get-a-way at the Cabin at Mill Pond. An "Excellent" or "Five Star" rating isn't enough. Sue Ann has done an amazing job with this cabin. The exterior and interior are beautiful. The photographs are accurate, but it's even more beautiful in person. The chocolates, scones, coffee cake, teas, wine, cheese ball, breakfast fixin's--everything was over the top!! With the Jacuzzi tub, comfortable robes, luxurious towels, bath lotions, etc. it was like having your own private spa! Gracie, our golden retriever, even had a special dog bowl/rug! We will be back. I think we have found our new "home" away from home. Perfection!!!

We loved this cabin and found it very hard to leave! Everything from the wonderful welcome goodies, the great customer service and the beautiful surroundings were amazing. As others have said the pictures on the website don't do the cabin justice; The balance of comfort and beauty is important and this cabin nails it. It's gorgeous but so inviting and relaxing; we felt right at home. We really enjoyed the quiet and seclusion - so quiet and relaxing to listen to the creek, the breeze and the occasional wild turkey gobble-ing. We'd love to go back there soon and highly recommend it.

We were two couples traveling together through North Carolina and Virginia and booked The Cabin at Mill Pond for 3 nights at very short notice after a good cabin experience in NC. This one was even better!
Sue Ann could not have been more accommodating. There was wine, fruit and chocolates and a fridge stocked with breakfast ingredients and beautiful homemade cakes and pastries. She arrived to welcome us and gave us some good tips for eating places (Bogeys), shops (Harmon’s) and music venues. The cabin itself was immaculate, spacious, yet cosy and very comfortable inside and out. We spent several happy evenings on the porch rockers enjoying the scenery and the seclusion before retiring to the wonderfully comfortable beds. There are some lovely walks in the grounds, a pretty creek in front and woods at the back where we saw wild deer and turkeys. The pictures don’t really do this property justice, it has to be seen to be believed and we would love to return. We will definitely recommend it to anyone visiting this area.

Wonderful Cabin

The photos of the cabin are nice; but, they do not do it justice. It is beautiful and has everything you could want. Everyone has mentioned the food; you will really enjoy the home made goodies, the wines, teas, snacks, etc. It is so private and peaceful. We enjoyed the sound of the stream while sitting on the porch and patio, also walking around the property to the stream. The owner was very thoughtful, calling to check with us on our arrival. The New River Trail is very nice and we went into historic downtown Mount Airy, NC. It is a fun afternoon if you are a fan of the Andy Griffith show...it is a Mayberry atmosphere and has a nice museum. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone.

Paradise in the Blue Ridge Mountains

We have used the VRBO site numerous times for finding vacation rentals from Maine to Montana. The Cabin at Mill Pond is the best experience we have had. The cabin is beautifully decorated with every attention to detail. It is comfortable and homey. Summer flowers were blooming all around the cabin and the landscaping is gorgeous. In addition, the owner provided homemade treats of scones, crumb cake, a cheeseball, wine, etc. It was such a welcoming touch. Our little Maltipoo, Riley, was able to come with us and he was in absolute ectasy with 10 acres to run and play without a leash and a creek to swim in. Our sons and grandson loved biking on the New River Trail. Our one regret is that we could not stay longer. We hope to return when we have more time to explore and soak in the beauty of the area. The owner should be a consultant for VRBO. She is amazing.
