Cozy Winter Retreat

We rented the cottage for four months in the winter (January - April 2012) as a weekend retreat away from New York City. My husband and I looked forward to coming to Rhinebeck every Friday night to sit by the fire and relax. The cottage is impeccably well maintained and well equipped with everything that you need - washer/dryer, kitchen with dishwasher and microwave and a working fireplace. It even has an enclosed patio for summer lounging and al fresco dining but we didn't make much use of it in the winter. If there were any issues with the cottage, the owners promptly responded and took care of everything.
The cottage is a stone's throw from the main village of Rhinebeck. There are many restaurants we enjoyed with very high quality food. We never felt like we compromised on our lifestyle during the weekends because we were able to dine just as well in Rhinebeck as in the City. The neighboring villages were also fun to explore, especially the antique shops in Red Hook. If you needed to do some regular shopping, we just crossed the river to Kingston and found every big box retailer that we needed (e.g. Home Depot, Bed Bad and Beyond, Walmart etc.).
We had a wonderful time during our stay in the cottage and would highly recommend staying here any time of year. Our winter was much more enjoyable and bearable for us this year because of it. We had such a great experience at the cottage during the winter months that we decided to buy our own house in a nearby village just so we can enjoy the surroundings all year long!
