If peace & quiet is what you're looking for, then look no further. Situated on 50 acres adjacent to the Appomattox River, Rivers Bend is about 0.3 mi down a gravel path from the blacktop. More of a small home with a rustic exterior than a true "cabin" the Rivers Bend has all the amenities you need for your visit. The kitchen is well equipped to cook whatever you feel like and even has granite counters! There is a beautiful forest and river view from the deck and the only sounds you will here are birds and the gurgling of the Appomattox River. If you're into music, bring your own hardware, as that is about the only thing the cabin is lacking. Carlton and Kathy are gracious hosts and will meet you there and give you a tour pointing out things like which switch works what, etc. A perfect base camp for your visit to Appomattox.

My friend and I came for night away while my boys were at 4H camp. So close. I fell in love before we even opened the doors. Every detail, just right. Great view, great walking. QUIET! so very sweet and cozy. We also drove into Appomattox for a little shopping. Lovely people and neat shops! Thank you for sharing your great spot!

Hidden Treasure on the Appomattox

My husband and I really enjoyed our getaway to this lovely little cabin,- the charming lane to the house, the wonderful historical character and feel of the restored building, the antique furnishings, the view of the horseshoe bend of the river from the kitchen and deck, and, best of all, the quiet and peaceful feeling of being "away from it all" while being only 10 minutes from Rt. 460, which is central to all the highlights on this are of Virginia. We have family in the area, and have finally found a place to serve as a cozy homebase for our visits. Thank you to the owners for their kindness and hospitality.

Peaceful and Beautiful

We just finished our stay at this cabin and it is so beautiful, peaceful, and historical there. We happened to arrive on the night of an unexpected snow storm that dumped about a foot of snow on the area and it was already dark, but the owner was extremely helpful with directions and getting us to the cabin. It is highly secluded, but we were within an hour of at least 10 different wineries and/or breweries which made for an amazing Sunday trip. While at the cabin, I watched the sunrise out of the back windows, and the kitchen was full of the dishes we needed in order to make delicious meals. Cell phone service was spotty out there, but it is an asset to the location because it makes you really get away from everything. We hope to visit again in the future.

Beautiful and Quiet

The River's Bend cabin was a perfect place to reconnect with a friend from years past. The cabin had everything that we needed with the exception of wine glasses (so bring your own). If peace, privacy, and solitude are what you are looking for, then this is it! Many thanks to Kathy and Carlton for sharing this gem!
