We bought this place as a cottage and renovated it into a beautiful 2 br custom built ranch home. After we retired we lived here full time for a while but decided to move back to our hometown . We did'nt want to sell our little piece of heaven so we kept it and want to share it. This way we can have the best of both worlds. Thanks for checking us out we would love to hear from you. Mike and Linda.
Mike or Linda purchased this house in 2002
We came to the area from S.E. Mich . For years the Shipshe area was our favorite vacation destination with all the things to do and see. We cant get over some of the bargains you come across while shopping. Still today we never grow tired of visiting and cant wait for the next trip to Shipshe.
The Lake and access is just steps right out the front door and the view is amazing. South Twin is not only a beautiful blue lake, it is one of Indiana's cleanest. You can fish and swim from the dock, pontoon boat or off the land. We have 2 Kayaks and a 12 ft rowboat included with your stay so you can explore the beauties that South Twin Lake has to offer or try you luck at fishing. Watch for a Soaring Eagle swooping down to catch a fish. Or a Otter that loves to swim along Kayak as though he wants to play. From the quiet serene back yard patio you can view a abundance of birds that visit our feeders. Pileated Wood Peckers, Baltamore Orioles, blue birds, and a host of unique birds. The Finches are so tame they let you sit right there while they feed. Humming birds are frequent visitors with 4 or 5 at a time fighting over the feeders. Fish Spieces generally caught are Bluegill, Perch, Crappie and Bass. The Indiana State Record Smallmouth Bass was caught...........You guessed it. South Twin Lake is a private lake, it also is one of Indiana's cleanest. South Twin Lake has no public access and is a 10 mph lake where no jet skis or speed boats are allowed, this makes the lake less congested and much safer. . It is extremely clean and spring fed . Its 115 acres around and 55 ft deep in the middle. During the summer months the lake very warm around 85 degrees.
I spent a few days at the cottage and was absolutely delighted. Extremely clean, well-equipped, and easily accessible. The owners have this setup with every single thing you could need. Just bring groceries and coffee and you're all set. Good selection of places to go around Sturgis and Shipshewana and then come back an relax at the cottage. Highly recommended.
This is a very nice, clean, updated cottage/home and the owners were very easy to work with in setting up the arrangements. It has a pretty view of the lake with the water levels being low near the dock so even little ones could walk around in the water. This stay was just for my husband and I and it was in a great location, very close to Amish stores - Shipshewana. Mother Nature had other ideas changing the weather from 90 the week before to 50 and windy during our stay so we didn't get to take advantage of the water as much as we had liked or the swing/porch chairs that overlook the lake. We would definitely come back again as it was a quiet location on a cul de sac. We hope that the next time the weather cooperates. The stars in the sky were plentiful though and so are the many Amish buggies so watch as you are driving the area. Take a buggy ride in town from one of the several vendors offering rides.
My work-aholic husband and I stayed her for 5 days/nights in late August. It was just what I hoped for ... a relaxing spot for him. A couple of afternoons, he lazed around while I took the short drive to Shipshewana to shop. I had never been there before, and was very pleased with the stores! Mike and Linda's home felt like home to me from the moment I walked in the door. They love birds, as I do - and I enjoyed the bird watching and the lake view immensely. If you are a beef-eater - I cannot recommend Old Hoosier Meats in Middlebury (just south of Shipshe) highly enough. The delmonico steak we bought and charcoal grilled almost could be cut with a fork. It melted in your mouth. Foodie-wise, we also purchased a huge amount of tomatoes and zucchini from a wonderful Amish farm at a fantastic price. :-)
This was our second visit to Nestled Inn, and it was delightful. Our first visit had been in late October in 2013. This visit had a totally different character. The flowers were blooming brightly with many different hues. The backyard is a wonderful place to eat and relax. We loved watching the hummingbirds sip from the feeders and sometimes dive bomb their competition away. The woodpecker ate the suet and the finches were their brilliant yellow. We didn’t eat any meals out except for having to have those powdered sugar doughnuts from Rise ‘n Roll.
We spent our days kayaking at least twice a day. It’s a beautifully quiet lake and connects to the other twin lake through a small channel. The turtles were sunning themselves, and there were a few water lilies floating in the water. When we weren’t kayaking or watching the birds, we were biking the Pumpkinvine Trail from Shipshewana to Middlebury. What a lovely trail!
This is a very relaxing, beautiful place to stay. I’d highly recommend it. It is tastefully decorated, very clean, comfortable beds, and has everything you will need. Thanks, Mike and Linda, for sharing your wonderful place!
This is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle. The singing birds, the beautiful flowers, and the calm and refreshing water are great reminders of the beauty in the world. Nestled Inn is clean and decorated tastefully. We look forward to staying again in the future. Our grandson loved the patio with the birds and flowers.
